It's amazing how popular these trucks are. My favorite body style, and the square body K5 Blazer's too. Just the right size, big enough to get the job done, but not so big that you can't see over the hood and need a ladder to get in it.
What a beautiful truck. I had an 87 V10, same color, but with a black interior and a stepside body. And I agree that this is the best looking year of the 80's Chevy pickups. Thanks for the video
I own a 1987 Chevy R-10 Custom Deluxe long bed, which is what I prefer, with a 305. It was abused by the previous owners but now it is getting lots of love. So far it has been a good truck. i also own a 1995 Chevy Silverado with a 350 which was well maintained and also gets lots of love. The '95 is a great truck. It has NEVER left me stranded. That is a beautiful truck. I'm sure you will get a pretty penny for that gem. Thanks for the video and take care.
It’s a Viper V10 Truck Made only for one week in 1987 . V10= 350. 5.7 4X4 C-10 . K10 was a Blazer. V10 came out in 1992 Viper .. Dennis made a mistake, he does have hundreds of cars and trucks.. Look it up, I made a mistake, V10 is a 4x4, In mid 1987 the new Body style came out 1988. 1999 and 2000 Chevy Silverado had two Body styles, same as 87 & 88.

The name change came because the new body style coming out in 88 was planned for an early release. They released some early model 88s mid yr in 87 and they didn't want confusion with the new generation. All 4x4 87s were V series. All of the RWD trucks were R series. The C and K series returned with the "new" body trucks now called OBS Chevys.
Yes & when the OBSs came out in 1988, they only came in 2-door cab pickup models at the time because the SUVs & 4-door cab pickups with the square body design were still in production up through 1991.

V10 simply means 4wd in 87’. Chevrolet switched their normal naming in 1987 from the K series (K10, K20, K30) for four-wheel drive trucks and C Series (C10, C20, C30) for two-wheel drive trucks to the V series (V10, V20, V30) for 4WD and R series for 2WD (R10, R20, R30) This same change was made to the Suburban and Blazer and the GMC Sierra and Jimmy. GM only kept the V and R naming for five years, so any truck made between 1987 and 1991 will use these names (GM changed the naming in 1989 to the more modern 1500/ 2500/ 3500 naming scheme, so any 1989, 1990 or 1991 truck will be a V1500/ V2500/ V3500 or R1500/ R2500/ R3500.
87 was the last year for plain cab pickups "1/2 ton & 3/4 ton models only", but the 1 ton plain cab pickups on the other hand were still in production up through 89. After that, the crew cab pickups & SUVs were the last models left in production up through 91.
If rust gets started, it won’t last five years. The engine will feel gutless in comparison, and the ride will throw you all over the place compared to a modern truck. If you like driving a buggy that will need thicker floor mats to keep your feet above the pavement instead of a modern smooth and powerful truck that won’t rust for at least ten years, then have at it.
I had a 1987 Suburban 4x4 in the same color and think it was Henna Red. Didn't come clear coated back then and the paint did not last BUT it could go alot of places. Nice pick-up.

Roll out and wing windows rule, have a plastic bed liner on a 1990 250 4x4 and they are huge for saving dents and wear. Long beds are more useful for real use too. 👍
That’s One sexy truck, I’ve always preferred a lwb truck. Just so I can haul most things in them, and I prefer the look of them. I could never afford a swb truck especially in these years models. Even if I wasn’t going to use this one as a daily, I’d still prefer the lwb. Thanks for sharing sir
Very Nice Truck. Im not sure why people are compelled to buy a vehicle and not drive it. At that point you may as well have a picture. I guess it's an investment but you have to spend money to keep them.
I had one of the first 1988 C1500 Silverados in Dallas, and it had that engine. It was a good engine. Cold starts were no problem with that throttle body fuel injection. I was a GM employee at the time, so I got it for a killer price, too.

I know a guy that bought virtually the same truck but it was a 86 with the 6.2, Silverado package with PWR everything and it was red/white paint IIRC. Too bad Midwest winters kill vehicles.

The square body trucks ran from 1973 to 1986 as C and K Series (two and four wheel drive respectively), and then from 1987 to 1991, the square body was the R and V Series (two and four wheel drive respectively) as this V Series truck is. In the spring of 1987, GM released the GMT400 truck as a 1988 model year, and that was a C and K Series again. Since the RV and CK were sold in the same dealerships together for a few years, GM changed the nomenclature to avoid (not always successfully) confusion between the two in the showroom, service department and parts department.
I had an 87 R10 in the same colors that we received as a wedding gift from my father in law who purchased it new. He only buys new red Chevy 2wd reg cab long beds and is currently pushing 200k on the cat eye he bought to replace that one.

Had a 85' C10 long bed 2wd, I was 2nd owner, had a Jasper 350 with less than 30k on it, frame broke in 99' after 1 jump over some railroad tracks?! Sold the motor and transmission for more than I paid for the Truck!!

I used to be an end-of-lease car inspector. I had one of those paint meters. Made it easy to detect unreported repairs.

Yup GM has NEVER produced a production 10 cylinder. Always been a 8 cylinder or 6 cylinder
