Thank you so much for this. I never imagined one day I would actually be playing on those maps from blurry screenshots I saw many years ago. This is like opening a portal to an alternate reality. Thanks again for your work and the beta/hacking research community in general!
Even if empty, to one day walk around all those miniature screenshots I saw in magazines that hyped me up so much as a kid, is a dream come true. Holy shit thank you so much for all the hard work! Here's to hoping we'll one day have a full Spaceworld prototype or some creative fellows make their own version based off these assets
The one beta that still to this day has utterly fascinated me has been this one. It’s so wild all of this information has been made available, the blurry screenshots from the magazines I had as a dumb little idiot have come to life :)
this is nearly the Holy Grail for beta content. Only thing that could possibly be better IMO is if somehow a playable version of even older OoT builds appeared. Such as the ones where link had one button for his sword(in some screenshots tied to the blue A button) and one button tied for his equipped item(usually on the green b button) such as bombs, arrows, etc. But the chance of that(and especially the one running on a modified SM64 engine, not even sure if that was actually "playable" or just an animation demo, the one with a brown haired more "cartoon" version of link facing a darknut that had the metal texture from SM64) happening is incredibly slim i'd think, since I feel those were developer only builds that were never intended for the public to actually play, only see pictures and videos of.
Looking at stuff like the Watertemple that seemed to have originally been 2-3 times larger than the retail version, I would be absolutely thrilled to sit through a playable version of these. Hell....I mean who knows how different the bossfight with Morpha alone might've been. From the talks on other TH-cam channels about this discovery, it appears there are hints on the dev. cartridge that point to a different set of animations for Link that were ultimately scrapped? This would lead me to believe, giving these things the benefit of a doubt, that maybe incase of said boss fight Link was once intended to fight it in and underwater perhaps? *explodes with excitement*
Please note that the maps in the overdump aren't actually empty! This is a very preliminary, incomplete import of the maps without any of their actors. The actor ID numbers changed between then and release, so it will take some work to manually try to match them up.
Indeed! So far there’s been a lot of goodies even though it’s only half of the rom! Here’s hoping someone finds the full rom or an early build one day.
Man, this really takes me back and reminds me of the "odyssey of hyrule" days. All the wild rumors and over analyzing of old screenshots from magazines. Excited and glad we finally have some way to look at this old content. Thank you z64me for your work and preservation.
Thank you and all of the leakers for this, sincerely form the bottom of my heart, thank you. I have wanted to have this exact thing, a beta of Ocarina of Time for pretty much all of my life. The work you've poured into this is greatly commendable and appreciated. To just be able to see these levels was one thing but to play them is an honor. Thank you, this feels like I'm in a dream and about to wake up to a reality where this isn't real but I'm almost certain I'm awake, and I couldn't be happier. It blows my mind that this is even happening and I can't thank you enough for making it happen.

Dude, appreciate all your work here but you are faster than I can blink with my eyes : D Especially from the levels you haven't shown so far you move away faster than I can say Pizza or ZethN64.
I think they're unlikely to come up, as the maps were extracted from a proto cart that was partially overwritten with F Zero X, so there will be incomplete stuff.
actually there's 127 individual map files but many of these map files are individual rooms in dungeons, parts of a few larger "scenes" so to speak that this patch has compiled together so you can view the maps in their entirety. If you use a program like DLViewer you can confirm this yourself
To everyone who use a keyboard and Project64, here's how you can fly: Press L (which is A on the keyboard) and Right on the DPad (which is either L or 6 on the NumPad, depends on what version you're using) at the same time, which activates this flying mode. You can move around horizontally with the Dpad. To go upwards, press A (X), to go downwards press B (C). To go faster press R (S) while moving. Press L and DPad Right again to get out of flying mode. If it doesn't work, check the controller settings to find out which buttons activate the other, it may be different for some people.
The text on the tents in Gerudo Valley says "MUBYOUSOKSI" which is surely a slight misspelling of "mubyousokushi" which means "sound health" or " to live a healthy and vigorous life without illness". The bottom text says "SUNA NO MINZOKU" which means "people of the sand". OoT Hylian translates to Japanese however Gerudo translates to English though it still spells out Japanese just in Romaji (Japanese written with English letters).

Thank you everyone involved in the sharing of the leaks.

Thank you z64me. . . Thank you. I feel like most of us had this idea about beta zelda 64. I had always imagined playing a beta build of the game expecting a complete experience. After playing this though, the thing I think most of us forgot is that the game was not completed yet. Naturally that means theres not much to do. The thing is, I have closure now. I can't play the patch on my project64 emulator :( I get that I need to install the nintendo 64 expansion and I don't know what that refers to, is the game already patched in the link or do we have to patch it?
Opening the first file on File Select should bring you to Map Select. The D-Pad up/down navigates the menu. Press Start to enter the highlighted map. While in a map, you can hold L + R + Z on controller 1 if controller 2 is plugged in to go back to Map Select.
The OoT Build is a prototype. Cyberpunk 2077 is the "full unfinished" Version. But a Prototype of Cyberpunk 2077 would also be fantastic. To play all the stuff we saw in Gameplay Footage and Trailers and see all the unfinished Areas in action. Dam.
Does anyone know how much of the original beta was overwritten by F-Zero data? Or is there some way to estimate that? Like, how much of the beta game will we see here? Is there some percentage value known?
No Lon Lon? *Sad Malon waifu noises* In all seriousness this a dream that I'd have given the world to even see since I was 8, let alone finally be able to play!

@@z64me Is necessary have 2 controller?
@@Mangeneitor64 Yes. Alternatively, use a savestate on map select so you don't have to keep resetting the rom.
how do you charge to adult link in the menu? none of the buttons seem to do it

Unfinished Ocarina Of Time build: exists. Everybody is excited.
Unfinished Cyberpunk 2077: exists.
...

The first 16 megabytes is overwritten by FZERO X. The other 16 megabytes is the OOT Spaceworld 97 ROM.
@@ongakuwotabeta is there anyway to recover that overwritten data? some programs can do that now days
@@ThePikkutyyppi No. that’s not how that works.
@@ongakuwotabeta well too bad. maybe someday
The other half is probably part of the Giga leak.

@@Leoram. huh?

No Lon Lon? *Sad Malon waifu noises*
In all seriousness this a dream that I'd have given the world to even see since I was 8, let alone finally be able to play!
@spoon again *Adult Malon*
She grows up after you get the master sword
Is it possible to restore actors on the maps?
i think so, @Zen64_ on twitter is working on it!
How do we levitate in the rom?

donde se descarga? --download link?
Were no songs implemented in the beta at the time?
dont think so, after all this patch only ported the map data into a normal zelda debug rom
Of what I heard, the music got overwritten by the F-Zero portion of the cartridge
Ah ok. Thank you both for your input.
So amazing! It's a shame fucking f-zero has overwritten some of this pure gold
