You should look up King's Octopus Stretch from Tekken 2, it was a grab that could 1 shot anyone in the game in one grab no matter how full the health was

@@Leadblast comin from Tekken 3 I hated this game in the beginning but looking back I appreciate and respect the courage the developers had to try take the game in a new direction, there was always going to be back lash, so I understand this game was quite divisive, some people really hate it I kind of understand why and some people loved it because it had elements that made it a beautiful game not perfect, but beautiful. This move by Yoshimitsu and the stage at the time were really something.

Tekken 4 is always gonna be my favorite. The soundtrack is a masterpiece and the stories were great. Also it was my first Tekken game so I'm a bit biased.
The soundtrack to this game was sooooo good. My only gripe about Tekken 7 is the music, it's so trash compared to T4

In current gen Namco would add ridiculous filters and bloom effect everywhere. I miss when graphics were not insanely distracting and shiny.

I find that soul stealer so cool. I wonder if they would ever bring that back feature in future tekken games. Like imagining yoshimitsu using death fist in his combos is interesting lol.

I never understood why this move never came back. Me and my brother used to do crazy combos with this in like 2005. Then we saved those combos on the PS2 memory card. Man good old days.

Probably if a move he stole had the same input needed as a move that he originally has. Unless they change it to 1+4 like soul stealer too, which would be unfair if he stole an EWGF/EWHF

Yoshimitsu has been my main since Tekken 1. I’ve followed him through all the games till now and to see his progression to this day is cool, he’s still an awesome character.

I honestly didn't think there was something that could make me love this game even more than I already do.
I remember Yoshi had something similar in Soul Calibur. But instead of stealing his opponents moves, he would use random Tekken characters’ moves (at least they seemed random to me).

Yeah Tekken 4 was the first Tekken game I owned as a kid! The costumes were great and stages way ahead of their time
If Yoshi has this version of Soul Stealer back it would make me want to play Yoshi players more and maybe even play him myself.
This game had the best stages of any tekken.
Thanks for showing this off! I discovered it accidentally myself, but never knew that Yoshi could do unique things with it like stealing Xiaoyu's Phoenix stance and being able to spit poison.
On one of the older tekken games I once did a move with yoshi where he created a clone of himself and slammed the opponent into the ground.
To this day I still don’t know the input.

In tekken 3 the soul stealer would actually hit the apponent. That is really cool that he can steal moves. They should keep that in the game.
!!!! I discovered this when i was like 10 yrs old. I used to sit in the lab and just look at characters moves and do goofy stuff like this for hours on end. However i never went that in depth lol. No clue about the AOP or tackle steal 😯😯 It seems more interesting in my adulthood than it did in childhood cause i look at Tekken somewhat 'analytically'

I just sort of rediscovered this the other day. I remember playing as a kid and somehow copying my opponent's moves with Yoshi and I didn't know how I did it. Just hooked up the old PS2 to play old Tekken games and noticed that I stole Kazuya's EWGF and I had to look it up. Such a cool feature.

I got a ps2 early last year, the first game I bought was T4 for nostalgic reasons and my love for Tekken 4. I saw Maina Highway do a TAS on Yoshi and spent my next few months practicing move steal combos. And I'm not even a big Yoshi fan

I stopped playing Yos when that was changed. It was the best thing in T4. Its been 18 years, so i could be wrong but i think its available from his soul stealer throw too. Because i dont remember using Flash very often and regulary stole moves.

Ah, T4. Despite its broken gameplay, it introduce a lot of great ideas, from story, to stages and even music. And this is also the game that gave us a Boxer and a Vale Tudo fighter.
Not to mention this was back when the whole idea of a world wide fighting tournament with martial
Artists was actually still the premise and soul of Tekken. Now it’s quickly turning into a pseudo DBZ, with more and more projectiles and wacky antics. If they didn’t screwup Leroys gameplay mechanics, he would’ve been(hopefully still) the first step towards returning to that simple yet charming and wholesome era of martial arts.

@Shinku Quickman if you actually paid attention, even back in T1 and T2 all the human characters were martial artists. And their stages were in real life inspired locations around the world. The only crazy fantasy stuff revolves around the mishimas and even then only in their character lore, gameplay wise they were dudes with karate inspired styles. Other characters like Jack or the animals were few and far in between, sprinkled through out.

The fact people got super hype for Leroy is proof that his type of design was seriously lacking in recent iterations. If they didn’t screw up his gameplay it would’ve been perfect, and it still can be with time. Nobody wants more Claudio or Eliza type of characters, that type of stuff is everywhere now and it’s oversatueation.

Yeah, because a bunch of glaciers or generic jungle or a baseball field or a curch are so inspired. Tekken 7 does take place all over the world, it just doesn't use the location as the stage name like Tekken 1 did. Unless you think Jungle Outpost is a stone's throw away from the fuckin Mishima skyscraper stage.

From T1 to T4, the series was a grounded fighter with fantastical/anime elements. From T5 onwards on the other hand, the balance was lost and it just goes balls to the walls with the anime elements.
Flash isn’t a counter hit launcher, it’s a regular hit launcher (at least in T7 anyway)
For me, the Art style and the music in tekken 4 is the best in the series

Yoshi sort of has a move like this in Soulcalibur where he does a random move from Tekken depending on the digits of the timer.
For those that'll ask, he had this in SC4.
