  • In this video I install EBR forks on a Puch Magnum moped.
    There were purchased from Treatland.tv.
    They are EBR Hydro Maxi length forks.

    Took me bout 10 years to get the old Puch (Pinto 2) running again since I bought it & tore it apart.
    Honestly don’t think I would’ve been able to do so without the help of you & Travis here on TH-cam.
    Thanks a ton been having a blast with it🤘

      Heck yea!
      Hey, so I actually just had an issue trying to install my EBR forks- the top fork nut will tighten up to a point but then come loose before it reaches its torque spec (found a figure of 30 foot pounds online from someone one mopedarmy). I removed the nut, inspected the threads on the EBR forks which looked fine and on the nut which also looked ok. Then even went & tried threading the nut back on the old forks, which went on totally fine & tight as well. I notice when I go to thread that nut onto the new forks that it doesn’t go on as tight as it did on the original forks. Like there’s even a bit of slop when I begin threading it on. Doesn’t really feel like a proper fit. Did you have to replace that nut when you upgraded forks, or did your original one off the puch work fine for you?
      Also, is there supposed to be a washer before that nut?
      Id appreciate the help!

      @@logandumais7442 that's really strange. I have never had issues. Are you sure it's the same size thread?

    • @logandumais7442
      @logandumais7442 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Threads appear to be the same! I think I’ll just try a new nut from treats
      Thanks again!

      Let me know if that fixes it. I have always reused the stock one

    I like it that you make the effort to make these short clips for beginners!
    Some constructive criticism: I would take all the stuff off the handle bar before taking it off the crown plate. There is less chance of damaging the paint on the tank. Also: when using the big orange attitude modifier to get the bearing race back on, put some wood or aluminium blocks on the vice. This prevents damage of the hard but brittle bearing race.

      @@Corn-ped I once got a splinter of a bearing race in my eye when I was trying to whack it of an axle... :-S

    Have you ever disassembled or shortened these forks?

    • @Corn-ped

      I have disassembled them to replace fork seals but never to shorten them. I will make a video soon on seal replacement

    would love a video on how to change points on an e50 and what you need to do when you do. my gap shrunk every few hundred miles as the nub wore down to almost nothing over time and i had to replace the points and it took me some time to figure out whether to take the magneto off and if i needed to reset timing and such. finally got it but took me a few hours of what should've been a half hour job. still not sure i did it right, but running good

      I do not know if they fit the Monza. You could measure the head tube.

    Is it harmful to pound on the lower bearing race like that?

    • @Corn-ped
      @Corn-ped  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are brittle, I should have put an aluminum block down. I did that quick because I had torched the race to expand it and had limited time to get it down. I thought it was going to slide all the way down without needing tk tap it. Next time I'll have everything ready in case I need to tap it down.

      One could use bike tools - crown race remover (instead of screwdriver) to remove crown. And a crown race setter to set the crown to minimize wear and destruction 😅 !
