One thing that also gives people wrong motives is wanting to get something without willing to understand the process and derive joy from the process. Such people are so focused on the output that they can do anything outside what they stand for just to get what they want.
You mentioned pressure but to me,you don't allow pressure control your motives once you know who you are and what you are to do or doing.no amount of pressure should control your motives
I think the reason behind a wrong motive is lack of self acceptance, low self esteem ,and lack of trust in God
The reason a wrong motive,is also the desire to be loved by people or to seek man's glory
