Pif taking over the DPWT would only make global golf stronger. R&A would then have to recognize Liv since DPWT and The Open are hand in hand. Thats Golf's original history. Then I'd make the Australian Open a new major. Go to France, Italy and South African Open's as well. Global Majors.. I'd look at the Asian Tours as well. Korea and Japan. China. Something to think about.
But that's not how capitalism has ever worked in practice. You are right, though; that group has the power. Just as the majority of Americans have the power in the USA. But in execution, those at the top have convinced everyone the upper crust eats first. And the masses go along with the program.
Too many conflicting interests, and that’s all by design for pga tour execs to act in their own self interest while claiming it’s “for the good of the tour” … the tour is far too large making players powerless to management
The best thing about pga tour so far are all the players OUTSIDE the top 50, 100 and greater winning. I hope none of the "top guys" win this yr (scheffler, Thomas, spieth) etc
PGA is hanging on by a thread. If PIF does'nt get DPWT out of this mess, LIV will grow like crazy. With DPWT the all world tour will be intact, and if not, PIF will just build the LIV product to achieve the same thing. PGA monopoly is looking ill and they have their lack of leadership to blame. Jay was bad enough, then he added Tiger to the mix to completely wipe out anything that could have worked for everyone. Yet one thing is certain, we will continue to hear how the best players in the world are playing for PGA, ugh.
Great show guys, i have a question: how can the pga tour members be an equity partner of this new entity? I know the business details arent out yet but this is more of a theory/thought question. If the tour operates on a meritocracy and theres an ever revolving door of players, how can they keep touting that the tour players are going to own a piece of this new entity if there not guarenteed anything? Do they give the ownership stakes to the pga tour card holders of that season? Likewise, if you lose your membership card the next season you lose the stake in the tour? What are the pros/cons of this or am i out to lunch on this, cause i can see why the attraction of a guarenteed contract to a top player would look like. Alot of these tour players lack the NIL, the top tour talent have that NIL but you can argue some youtubers have a larger influence via social media, like the rick shiels of the world, not saying theres alot of them but i know alot of friends that know rick shiels over viktor hovland and alot of these top tour guys just via social media presence. The pga has done a shit job of marketing there guys, its always been the same ole shit, no innovation, only now your starting to see it, via a competitor on the market in the form of LIV. Sorry this comment dragged on, ill understand if you stopped reading. Cheers
The phone was ringing. They had a chance to get a cut and make it realtively doable. It aint never going to happen now. LIV is doing exactly what PGAT did to the european tour.
Good show guys. LIv guys could put pressure on pif to get them into majors. But we all know the majors without many of the LIv guys are increasingly not majors (except the masters because it’s the masters and they truly can do whatever they want). LIv needs to keep their focus on investing in the players, getting more of the top players (no longer based on the owgr but data golf and others). As Far as the groups: The one I want to focus on is the players group. Tiger and the golden boys -Jordan, jt, sheff, Rory and a few other guys - have their issues with the rank and file but ironically are on the same side as the rank and file. Why? Because no one at LIv really wants the rank and file …and the golden boys especially Tiger know they will have many special perks with the pga tour as their careers progress; ie their own tournaments, now possibly major stakes and more. The rank and file should consider themselves very lucky to be in the jet stream of this whole thing because it’s never been a better time to be a mediocre Tour pro. But tiger and the pga tour golden boys do have a choice still. And that’s why they are still the key to this whole thing. Those golden Tour guys are still in a great position assuming Rory doesn’t decide it’s a good idea to take a good hand, show everyone their cards and fold; which he is trying to do but still. The golden boys have that hand for now. That’s why LIv needs to focus on that second tier of stars remaining on the pga tour. For whatever reason yesterday was the day the pga tour and pga tour channel side started admitting the owgr is basically irrelevant. They defended what they did but acknowledged it’s not doing the job of properly ranking golfers. And I want to stress it’s not just with LIv they are poor at ranking golfers. The owgr as rahm mentioned again today has been flawed and biased for a long time. He also thought LIv had already stopped pursuing owgr points; that’s how irrelevant the owgr is gotten. This is what happens when a ranking system has conflicts of interest. Again, liv need to get as many top LIV (54) players and let the rest sort itself out. The majors can only sacrifice their events for the pga tour for so long. Something will have to give. The LIv boys just need to be patient.

Looks pretty obvious the PGAT are offering their players...... sign this one off loyalty payment (which will be big for the top 20 and crap for the rest from the good people of SSG).... but you must sign a lifetime deal to stay with us when you take the payment...... Then all they need to do is wait out the 5-10 years before LIV runs out of players, as everyone else is signed to PGAT/SSG. A model destined to fail, as LIV will be willing to write to the cheques for court cases anyone who wants out of the PGAT/SSG lifetime deal. The second part of the PGAT/SSG deal is, this is the only path to ranking points and majors........ meanwhile the majors and PGA of America and R&A, go sorry don't make deals on our behalf trying to restrain trade and damage our products justb so you can keep what is left..... this mnight be the final step for the majors to make their own call on who is in and out of majors based on form on all tours not on OWGR.
