What jealous silly fools gave this a thumbs down. He was a great pianist a great showman. Wonderful personality. He had the ability to laugh at himself. A humble talented person
What a brilliant performance by Liberace. To play when the clown is dancing in front of him. Wonderful and so sad. I’ll always miss you Liberace You brought happiness to so many people. You deserve a Statue.
I am 84 and he is still alive for me, still rare and daring in his humanity. This glory of sweetness, I never saw this piano puppet pairing of two artists before Sheer genius. Among the top creations that feed the human spirit.
Bravo!!!! Younger people just don't have the memories that we who were around do. It was so different. Many of us almost never went out for a regular daily meal or even for the evening. Instead, we might fix some popcorn or other simple treats, turn on the television, and the entire family would sit around and be entertained by absolutely legendary musicians, singers, actors, comedians, etc., through the various programs available. It's actually almost overwhelming to look back and realize in many cases we were watching and hearing some of the very best in their fields...maybe ever!!!!!
Oh my goodness!! My Mom referred this to me. WHAT A PERFORMANCE!! I so wish that our younger generation would learn to appreciate this kind of art!!! Such an entertainer. There is a HUGE difference between an entertainer and a performer. My name is Jill Lyons "and I stand behind this message"
Hi Jill, I completely agree. Normally I don't like clowns, but this togetherness with Liberace is entertainment at its best. I sure hope that also the younger generation is watching and appreciating this particular clip. 🎵 Regards from Germany. 🤗
This is a very rare and classic video of Liberace doing one of my all time favorite songs .Truly , Liberace was "Mr. Showmanship " .And his Talent for playing the piano ,always showed through his music .RIP Liberace ,I miss you .
This is amazing! For those of you educated and childish people poking fun, saying the puppeteer should be fired, or saying intellectually thrilling things like “this is stupid”, then, clearly, this form of art and entertainment wasn’t designed for you. As for the comment that adults shouldn’t be laughing at the marionette, let me inform you that the use of marionettes for entertainment (of all groups) goes back to around 2,000 years BC. Go get yourself an education. This is talent at its finest.
I totally agree and that puppeteer is really, really talented! That's what made Liberace so great, always sharing the stage with others with the only goal to amaze the audience....
I can STILL remember the feeling that I experienced, as I sat in the showroom at the Hilton, watching Liberace and Barclay and Toto perform this ... it was touching and beautiful.
@@2see2hear2be Hey Adam ... I'm an Entertainer today because of Liberace ... I could write paragraphs about his importance in my life. If you have a few minutes, you might enjoy my Liberace Episode in my TH-cam series - th-cam.com/video/GLix9WRjO64/w-d-xo.html
I have shared this with everyone I know and watched anytime I need a glow. Sheer genius. A treasure for anyone with a human heart who has had their joy shattered by life yet finds a simple sweet dance still possible. Lovely
Wow. I was really depressed for the past week.....just in the dumps. I saw this and laughed so hard and cried and for the first time in a long time I feel like things are gonna be ok
Everything eventuality will be OK. Depression is hard, but finding joy in things like this, is what helps get us through. Better days come from joy are ahead.💥💥💥😎😎😎
There used to be a performer at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville. He performed on a balcony 2 times a night. He was brilliant, and entertaining, but no LIBERACE!! REALLY, WHO COULD BE??
What I like best is that it’s Liberace on solo piano. There’s so much video available on this great musician/entertainer but even in his early b&w days he almost always plays with accompaniment. Nothing wrong with that but nice to hear him alone also.
I watched this special on TV with my family in 1978...and adopted the name "Toto" as my clown name as I had taken a clown class not long before I saw this. Clowning turned into my career...and as of now in 2018 I am celebrating my 33rd year as a full time clown. There are folks in this world who have never called me anything but "Toto"...
Amazing and just so beautiful and creative. Simple and yet inspiring. You were the greatest Lee. Rest in Peace. I can't imagine the piano you are playing in heaven ( I bet it is all made of Gold ).
OH MY GOSH....this was fantastic. That clown was so darn cute. What a great piece of entertainment. Thank you, thank you for putting this on your site.
IMO this was amazing! I almost didn't watch it but am certainly very glad I did. I think Lee is due a lot of credit for sharing the number with Toto and letting him have the spotlight and basically stealing the show.
I have taken a rageddy ann doll, put it in my hand and brought it to life for my 4 yr old daughter. The Chachi, pure artist, entertainer and fashion way before it became chic. Sometimes people cant understand real talent or a good show, this was both.
Wow! I've never seen this before.....truly amazing. That is truly a show that will not be matched...simply incredible. I'd like to know the genius that came up with this wonderful idea. I have not seen anything like this in a very long time
Este vídeo me recordó mi infancia!! Gracias !! Porque hoy los niños ven cosas taaan diferentes.,pero sobretodo tan agresivas los padres lo permiten . Aquí volví al tiempo donde teníamos imaginación ,sana y fantástica GRACIAS !!!!; G. L. M.
This is my favorite Liberace piece, so perfect, so emotional....a wonderful supremely talented man, who gave so much beauty and love to this troubled world. When he picked notes they somehow sounded unlike any other.
The clown is so human like with the movement and facial expressions - top marks to the Puppeteer and to Liberace himself for the interactions between the Medley played and the clown's response.
3:30 -- I wonder how many people back then got the significance of the music there, and how many would get it today. Hint: It's "Vesti la giubba" from the opera 'Pagliacci.'
I think the people knew the music..or at least heard it before..but today??you are right.. The opera scene is where Pagliaci is putting on his make up and probably considering the fate of himself knowing his wife is betraying him

People who are afraid of clowns?
Well said
How easy it is for humans to JUDGE one another!! Superiority complex on their part, who gave thumbs down!! This is TERRIFIC!!!!!! 👍👍👍

i was lucky enough to see Liberace in England and bring in the clowns was part of the show. absolutely brilliant. greatly missed
Oh my heart…. Liberace was incredible. Played with his heart and soul. Magical. May he Rest In Peace. ❤️
Just lost for words fab
splendid.
Just amazing. So simple yet so powerful. Sadly todays entertainers have lost touch with this style of entertainment.
e b there are none left...not real ones.
Josh White all musicians/ entertainers are valid. The crowed changes and wants new things. Your Preferences shouldn’t invalidate other people’s art.
leokimvideo Amassing indeed. Those were wonderful times back then.
No one today comes close to a performance like this. This is one of a kind. The way the clown looks up at its handler is amazing.
I am 84 and he is still alive for me, still rare and daring in his humanity. This glory of sweetness, I never saw this piano puppet pairing of two artists before Sheer genius. Among the top creations that feed the human spirit.
I don't remember the last time I genuinely enjoyed a video as much as this

Amazing puppeteering. I've never seen anything on this level of talent from both a puppeteer and pianist.

Great puppeteer! Excellent number.
I wonder what happened to the clown since Shaw's passing. Not much information about Shaw overall. I hope the little guy has a good home.

Hope so,
Another magician (David) bought him and the clown sits i a warehouse. So Sad.
