I just had someone run a red and almost hit me while I was turning left at a light. I dropped the bike and messed up that cover like yours was. I thought it was gonna cost me a fortune to have fixed but after seeing this video I should be able to fix myself. Thanks dude... 👍
@@loader66 oh no man hope you weren’t injured to badly, honestly mate it’s very simple fix really easy & if you get stuck give me a massage I answer normally within 30 minutes or so Thanks for the kind words appreciate your message
Thanks for this it’s going to help when I change my Stator this week! I’ll be doing an oil change anyway as it’s due one so I won’t have to tip the bike but I’ll Keep that In mind!
Great video! Good call leaning the bike up against something so you don't have to mess with oil. The service manual for the ER-6F says to replace the OEM gasket and to use a silicone gasket maker. Seems like overkill to me, but I'd rather not deal with oil leaking later on.
Hey, when you crashed it, did it start leaking? I crashed mine too and it's leaking, looks like a mix of oil and cooling liquid and smells like gasoline too
Hey mate, great video!!Thanks!! I just crashed my er6, and the generator cover is damaged and leaking, looks like oil mixed with cooling liquid and also gasoline. Is that something to be worried about? Now (A day later) it looks like just oil is leaking but it still smells like gasoline, makes me worried. I bought the replacement parts. And i'm waiting to get delivered in order install them.
Hey mate I would not worry to much about the gasoline smell however the coolant in the oil is a issue I would look more into, Is it getting hot before your crash ?
Kind sir, please tell me did you use gasket sealer on the cover and on the engine or you used only the oem gasket? Or have you used gasket sealer where the engine case splits, near where the two dowels are? I need to replace both gen cover and clutch cover and before i do i need to know if i need to use gasket sealer with the oem gasket or not. Thank you and best regards.
Funnyuk888 Wow! Thank you very much for the quick and kind help! I wonder on the clutch side do you think i need sealent? What torque did you use 10 nm? Thanks again!
Funnyuk888 Rob, you are the man! I will be having new gaskets. And i will be having the new covers so no need for diagrams. Thanks a bunch for the help. Will keep you posted!
Thanks for the vid, my bike fall over and the case was damaged. Is that simply motor oil which is inside? So if I refill a little bit, does it arrive in this section again?
Hey mate that sucks buddy, so if your oil has come out from the damaged case, YES it’s just normal engine oil it will fill up by itself from main engine. Follow my video your be fine it’s very easy just take your time & enjoy the beautiful weather. Thanks
Yes mate there was a gasket stuck i reused it as it come away without damage, if it had of broken I would have used abit of red sealant wiped off the excess
Hey buddy when I took mine off it came off in one peace, I reuse the gasket & still to this day it hasn’t lost a single drop of oil, the one you see me cleaning off was off the replacement cover. But if your not successful to get your gasket off in one & making kit would be fine buddy.

Hello Juan just make sure you tighten in a cross pattern & your be fine, so basically if you tighten the top bolt first it would be bottom next & so on. Only hand tighten them all first then tighten fully.
6 years on still not a drop of oil ! Use your common sense if you sand it like a moron it would leak 🤣 if your using your common sense like Im sure 99% of people that are doing the job do your good to use sandpaper LIGHTLY to remove any old gasket! But thank you for your comment there all welcome
Sure that was a option however for education purposes more would appreciate seeing how to change the cover & I had a replacement anyway, painting the cover would have taken a lot more time effort & unless powder coated probably would have flaked off after a few months,
