- We are back with even more incredible UNO MAS levels including another glitchy level focusing on the Link powerup and tons of other zany showcases.
For those that don't know what an UNO MAS level is, essentially it's a short level made to showcase something neat, unique, silly or glitchy in Mario Maker 2. Typically, once figured out, these levels will take under 30 seconds to beat...but those 30 seconds are usually filled with eye opening moments. Let's dive into these levels!

Do my eyes have a different "refresh rate" than everyone else's? To me, they're just half-red, half-green mushrooms that rapidly swap which color is on which side...
@@JD-128 the game's trying to clarify the mushrooms' layer: example; 1 up: layer 1, normal mushy: layer 2, and they look strange so the game tries to swap layers, and it does it at 60 fps

And if you stop it they will act like they are 480p or lower *thats an optical illusion*
5:10 that's most likely intended! There's a practice in the programming of platformer games to give the player a tiny margin of error for every time they're about to die from something stupid, e.g. falling off a pit. A timer of a couple frames goes off as soon as the character's hitbox falls off an edge, and in that time the player still has full control of the character -- allowing them to jump back, change position etc. That way, the game doesn't get infuriating with demanding perfectly timed inputs.
I feel like Mario games have a lot of I-frames 😅...

Commonly called Coyote Time, after Wile E Coyote, famous for running off cliffs but only falling after he notices. In this case though I don't think it's Coyote Time, I think it's just order of operations. The game is registering input during the transformation sequence, and seeing that Mario is in a valid position to enter the pipe. Since he's already pressed up against the pipe, holding in the right direction *and* valid to enter, he enters on the next frame and just doesn't get the time to enter a falling state, which is not a valid pipe entering position.

What i like about DGR is that he laughs at his mistakes. Some people will get really upset even though it's just a game. But when you laugh at your mistakes, the game is so much more fun.

The nostalgia just kicked in
I'm pretty sure the p-balloon/fire flower set-up works because Mario will only go through a pipe if you hold the direction for a certain amount of time. Usually there needs to be a floor underneath the pipe so you have enough time to hold the button, but because the fire flower temporarily slows things down, the game still registers that you're holding right long enough and lets you through. Really interesting!

awesome vid man. just my two cents but i love seeing you work through the uno mas and your trial and error process until beating it. this vid had a lot of edits cut right to the end when you beat it but im totally down for longer vids/not as many levels crammed in! once again just my thoughts. thanks for the content man.

Is it weird that it felt nostalgic seeing the word possible pop up on screen while hearing that wonderful Odyssey jingle? I mean....the, "Is it possible" series is what started my journey of following Dave....so it was pretty darn nostalgic for me.

OK here you go: Nintendo
Chance Bates I am pretty sure that the Clear Pipe one is because of how Mario spawns when exiting a clear pipe, his head will always be at the same height compared to the clear pipe but collecting the mushroom makes him taller so when he spawns out of the clear pipe he spawns with his feet on the ground.
For the pipe one where you cant touch the ground... I think that's how the mechanics of the pipe work.
When you travel through it, your hitbox travels in a space equal to small Mario, when you exit the pipe, you temporarily occupy the small Mario spot at the bottom. Since you are big Mario, you register as not having left the ground because your lower half is still egistered as touching the ground.
Regarding the Golden Mushroom, and why it IS gold and not brown:
In RGB color theory (additive color wheel, color theory of light rather than pigment), red and green are primary colors that combine to make yellow. Since screens use light, red and green are primaries and yellow is a secondary.

Eh, DGR deserves the likes.
With the Golden Mushroom, if you look at it frame-by-frame, you see that it's actually the sides being red and green switching, but on a normal playback, it's so fast it tricks your eyes into seeing golden-brown. In other words, it's an optical illusion.
6:00 seems like a fun tease to put at the end of a tough section right before the pipe/door to the goal

When you played the odyssey moon collecting tune. I made me think back, I remember the is it possible Mario odyssey series, that was actually when I first started watching Dave. I think his first video i watched was the odyssey early clip vid. That was back in the old college days 😜
at 6:40 you can actually see the cannon moving ever so slightly to the point where the hitbox goes inside the checkpoint, thus making it "unreachable"

Edit: a guess at that glass pipe/clear con one, maybe leaving the pipe treats you as ducked, but also standing, so the head of Mario is always in front of the bottom of the pipe? That allows for Super Mario to not take the fall, because he's technically already standing there?

The reason the red green mushrooms create yellow is because screens use red, green and blue (RGB) light to create color. Red and green light put together makes yellow light. If you go into a photo editor or art app you’ll usually find a color selection tool based on RGB values.
Since Dave keeps completing uno mass levels with his eyes closed he should also do that on troll levels, he might do better

Clown cars get pushed by note block bouncing down and hitting a block underneath. Then the clown cars crush mario. This happens fairly quickly, so i don't think people who don't know much about how games work and animations and hit boxes would understand this.
Edit: That was uncrushed.
Half-launcher clip: The block mario jumps into pushes mario because of the "bobbing" animation shown when it "jumps" and then mario goes through the half-space.
Floaty fire mario: Mario's p-balloon hitbox enters the pipe and shortly after the fire flower is collected.
Unobtainable CP: Cannon's hitbox is wonky because it got pushed down by a block.
Spring's day off: Ducking increases "friction".

The second one, I think its because when you load in through the door, the clown cars aren't following you yet until you get into range of them, and they take a second or so to do so. When you jump in from the bottom, they are already following you so insta-move
