    Absolutely Beautiful!! from a Native New Yorker.
    I rode the Port Washington branch back in the early 70's, as a kid, from Main Street Flushing to Port Washington to look at minibikes at the the long gone "Ghost Motorcycle" dealer in Port Washington. When traveling the line I was glued to the front window out and back and loved every minute. In watching this video of the train pulling into the Main Street Flushing Station it brought a tear to my eye. Your video brought back tremendous memories of growing up in Queens over 50 years ago. Thank you so much for memories and keep up the great work!!

    Nice smooth ride, the cutest part was the little girl at 1308-09 weaving as the train went by!! Reminded me of my childhood and waving to the trains!

    The three ridge runner lines on the Long Island,are Port Washington,Oyster Bay,and Port Jefferson! Since all are on the North Shore,and cover the terminal moraine! That's the reason that they end in single tracks! Anyway,it provides spice to life! From a transplanted Oyster Bay railfan! Miss that line,very photogenic! Thank you 😇 😊!

    Judging by the sound of the train, from which you can clearly hear that there is a flat spot (or 'wheel flat', if you don't know what is it, read it on Wikipedia) on the wheel of the car, I am not surprised by the recent train accidents in the United States. This is not the norm in European countries.

    Nice video! I've seen a few going out to Port Washington. This is the first I've seen in the other direction. That clickety clack was probably a flat wheel and not a steam engine chug!!

    31:30 - 32:40 my favorite part of the vid because of the fact I used to live around that particular area of Elmhurst. My elementary school (PS7) is on the left.
    Later during my middle school years I’d walk the sidewalk that was parallel to the tracks to and from school. Good times.

    I travel from zone 1 to zone 3 for years so when I recently found out about the single rail line near the end, that just blew my mind.

    This is the day it was headed by 9830-9829 going eastbound (supposedly)..... I was at Babylon last week when the 3:03pm train from Penn due Babylon at 4:15 was a 12 car M3 supposedly headed by 9818-9817 but it was really headed by 9940- 9939 with cars 9818-9817 being cars 9 and 10 of the 12 car M3

    Two random thoughts -
    - Now to see how much "country" there is, that close to NYC
    - And even a "lesser" branch like this has continuous welded rail, concrete ties. Wish Boston could do that well

    Great video. If you are ever in MD, and have time to spare, it’d great to see a cab view of the Brunswick MARC line. I am not sure the Bi Levels let you get this close to the window though, and its a long trip back and forth. But if it ever happened, I’d be very appreciative.

    Why would the original builders of Penn Station add that curvy part on track 18? 44:11 just doesn’t make sense

    Thank you for your well made films. Being a retired UK Railwayman, I noticed the US signalling to be very different from our native system, speed based perhaps, and I wonder if you know of any on-line sources to assist my further understanding. To the best of my knowledge, there was only one comparable instalation here, at Mirfield, Yorkshire, brought into use during 1932 by the London Midland & Scottish Railway but simplified in 1959 and finally replaced in 1970 by standard equipment conforming to established Britsh practice. Kind regards from Barnetby, UK.

    Shame the whole line can't be double tracked.

    • @MrMaster767
      @MrMaster767  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'd have to replace the Viaduct. Too much work. Extending the pocket track in Great Neck is more then enough. They want to expand Port Wash Yard, but the neighbors refuse lol

    • @nyrmetros
      @nyrmetros 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrMaster767 I understand not double tracking the viaduct, I'm happy that it's still in good shape being how old it is. But could they double track after the viaduct out to Port Washington?
