Great job with the sponsor video by using the different voices. Plus, it was great hearing honest feedback on the positive and negative aspects of the Burano. The K&F giveaway is a bonus to this informative video.
This was a great zoomed out comparison of the systems. I’m interested in the butano but that IR issue does give me hesitations until the fx6II is announced. I’ve heard good things about k&f filters and would love to try them on upcoming corporate shoots 🤞🏾🙌🏾 looking forward to follow your burano journey!
Thank you a lot! For me, it is the same thing with the FX6 II, but I think they will not implement the IS, and the Burano is better for my purpose. The filter is quite nice. Yes, maybe you will get one. I am rooting for you!
Thank you for giving great reviews and your personal likes and dislikes. It's good to hear lots of opinions before jumping into one of these purchases.
Had a chance to play with the Burano. Unfortunately it was cloudy all day, but the resolution and the handling was amazing, but I missed open gate from my lumix s5ii, would love to see that in sony cameras.
@@GidonLasch they really don’t seem to want to respect the need for open-gate in this market price point, but they gave the same excuse with the FX9 when it first launched and I sat down with Sony reps for their introduction to the camera. They didn’t get that 4:3/3:2 capture was super useful to the modern social media market for multi-aspect capture and seeming now nor the proliferation of great single focus low-budget anamorphics.
It’s very unfortunate yes I just hope for a update in the next years to supercharge the burano a bit. If enough people beg for it maybe at some point the will listen.
I feel like the Burano is a weird choice to compare to the other two where it would be Venice II that is the competition. The Burano really completes with the Komodo X and a used ARRI Mini or ARRI Amira.
I absolutely see your point but since these three cameras are the newest cameras from these manufacturers i was interested in how they stack up. And when you look at the price of the Komodo vs the burano the burano really needs to be the competition of the v raptor. I would love to see it besides the new canon c400 because from a usability standpoint and from the recording formats that is the closest competition at a fraction of the cost. I think Sony really needs to deliver on the fx6 mark II
@@GidonLasch I agree, the FX6 II needs to be a hit out of the park, the Burano came out swinging but with too many gotchas that just sadly really hurt it, even if some were also overblown or to be expected from a Sony camera. Also just to note I do see your point of price point, but I guess that’s where also the Alexa35 (while my favourite here) also takes whole order of magnitude step up in price point from the others.
yes absolutely I am really exited to see what sony will bring us for the FX6 MK II, of course the Alexia is in its own category when it comes to price but like I say in the video when you have the budget and crew its always the safe bet!
I always loved the haze look Adds a softness to the skin and unsharpenes a digital sensor giving a more pleasing organic look with a touch of warmness. Them combining a VND with a blackmist filter is genius. Im running a janky stacked filter workflow, some get stuck which drives me crazy. Should have looked further into combined filters. How's the color cast, beside the touch of orange warm yellowish tint?! Any greens or violet cast when using the combined VND?
Yes it's a very nice combination, the colour cast isn't that bad, you do see a little bit of shift when stopped down but its just minor. and yes you have a warm tint overall.
Absolutely after a bit more testing with the burano I need to clearly say that it hast a big advantage over the fx3 especially in skintones and the ease you can get the pictures to a good look but still the fx3 is so amazing for what it is!
I can't ever imagine picking a red instead of an arri. I am hoping my next camera will be a Nikon Cinema line boxy body sony fx3 with compressed raw. Hopefully they make that, they can become number 1 in the video market so quickly if they did that.
I think there is always the right tool for the job and sometimes it will be a red but yeah as soon as you have enough budget, go Arri or go home! the camera you are describing sounds great ;)
I guess you don't know about the RED V-Raptor X Extended Highlights mode? It blows away the Dynamic Range of the Alexa 35 - just saying on that one point.
i am aware of it and did some test with the EH turned on the big problem here is only the beta of RED Cine X Pro is able to open the files, of course that will change but for now its not the best for your post workflow. I think even with it turned on the Alexa has the edge and it's hard to compare because it is not as usable as on the Alexa but I absolute get your point.
@@GidonLasch if you do a TH-cam search for the comparison, there was a new video that was just released where you can see for your own eyes the difference in both cameras! This guy’s channel: Thai 8K HDR Variety
I just want to make sure I heard you correctly. You bought the burano for the version 2.0 update which is in 2025? That's why alot of your issues will be addressed. Specifically March of 2025.
I bought the Burano because I needed a high-end camera for various shoots, and nothing comes close to the Burano for my personal needs. I like the camera very much, but I wouldn’t recommend it to someone who is not doing high-end documentary work or a combination of documentary and image work. There are some things that annoy me a little bit right now, but they should be resolved with the upcoming update. What I can say after some shoots is that it’s a fantastic camera. As for IR pollution, it’s not a problem for me; I didn’t notice any issues with the ND filter while using it.
Alexa35 über allem anderen. Ich bin selber RED User aber seit meinem letzten Projekt auf der alexa35 will ich sie haben. Kein Sony oder RED kommt da ran
Dude ... if you have the money.. go with the Alexa 35. Future proofing is just marketing nonsense. Future Humans aren't suddenly going to develop super vision. If anything ...what future proofs a camera is it's Dynamic range. TVs just keep getting brighter and brighter.. able to show much more contrast and hold highlights.
I think that's kind of what I said, but I don't know many people who have the money for an Alexa. High resolution isn’t about getting an 8K delivery; it’s about being able to work with the resolution in post. And of course, you are right about the dynamic range; I love it about the Alexa 35. But at least for me, if I could afford it, I would wait until the new LF sensor is available and then pull the trigger to get an Arri. The problem with Arri is that in many ways I prefer the Sony. When it comes to handling, the speed I can achieve with a Burano is much higher than with a 35.
It’s not as complicated as it sounds. I only need one shooting mode per project and will stick to it. The only time I change the shooting mode is when I want to do slow motion. By now, I know the camera well enough that I can make adjustments very quickly. Still, I’m really looking forward to some updates on the camera that will make things a lot easier. The Burano will be a miss for many people just because of the price-pint but for me its just the perfect do it all tool.
@@GidonLasch That’s cool. As long as it makes you happy and it inspires you! Rolling shutter notwithstanding (cough) :-) just kidding, I’m glad you’re happy! I would have easily chosen a V-Raptor X - and get better dynamic range than the Alexa 35, a crap ton of frame rates and resolution, better color science, and the best post production flow in the business?
Absolutely on paper the red offers much more but since I am shooting a lot of documentary films I have very different needs in a camera and then a vario nd an image stabilizing and quick booting time as well as low battery consumption is worth much more
RED V Raptor is the best cinema camera right now. None of them can compete with the VV Sensor, frame rates, R3D all while having the same or better dynamic range for $25K. The Burano has had so many challenges and the internal ND is horrible with IR pollution that makes it unusable.
@ Anyone who says that don’t own RED cameras. I have three of them and that’s pure nonsense. Zach Snyder and others have been shooting on RED for decades. Though this camera may be solid. Sony really handicapped it with so many quirks. It’s not even close to a V Raptor for the same price. The V Raptor is a better camera tho a both of them. Especially for the price as well.
i do and i am working with it, so in the next time I will do an other video about how it is to work with. but I can tell you I like the burano a lot after shooting for a week with it.

The red certainly has some characteristics that stand out I also was very impressed with the image

I think they won't give us this option in the Burano, they need to separate the Venice a little it but yes that would be well appreciated!
