I have the 40 oz. KK bottle and absolutely love it. Took it on an alpine backpacking trip, water froze solid in a few hours (was -10F during the day). The bottle saved the day since I could put it on my stove to thaw.
You've kind of sold me on the Kean Kanteen. I'd definitely get one of those instead of a Sigg bottle. But I still can't get over the fact that it's not see-through. It also needs an embedded strip of clear, BPA-free plastic along the length of bottle, preferably with some accurate measurements imprinted on it, or on the bottle beside it, so it's less likely to be toxic.
Don't they have life time warranty? I think at least hydroflask replaces it with a new one if it's dented etc. Might want to check if it's possible with Kleen Kanteen as well. I just bought the 1L Kleen Kanteen with insulation myself (not delivered yet). I wonder if that one also can be used to boil water tho.
@gaozhi2007 Actually you can put hot liquids in it, you'll just get burned if you touch it, what they mean is that it is not designed to be used with hot liquids since it's single walled (so not insulated). There is, however, a double walled, insulated version specifically designed to keep hot liquids hot (even your lunch) and cold liquids cold for several hours, you wouldn't be able to boil water in it, though...
I switched to these about 2 years ago form Nalgene's. I am sold on these. They can take a beating for sure. Only thing I do not like is that they are made in CHINA. Other than that I really like these canteens.
so its ok to boil them? I was afraid that I may have damaged it when I first bought it and someone recommend me that I fill the bottle with boiled water first to get rid of the metallic taste. Though I have been using it for a day now without any problems.
wish i would have seen this before i bought my sigg. used it for only 2 months and the sigg's inner lining of the mouthpiece started wearing away. sucks!
I have one but the water tastes like metal. Maybe it's a bad weld? I just couldn't use it. I know for a fact my stainless steel Thermos bottle is perfectly fine though.
Klean kanteen does also have insulated bottles but they are not as large as some of the hydroflask ones (40 ounces (1.2 L) or 64 ounces (1.9L). Go with Hydroflask, trust me. Also check amazon reviews you'll see its the best bottle out there and far better than klean kanteen.
Just read this: "Can I put hot liquids in my Klean Kanteen? No. Klean Kanteen bottles are single walled and not for use with hot liquids. Warm beverages can be used at personal comfort level. The single-walled construction allows for more volume and the option to put your Kanteen on a flame. " So...you can put your canteen on an open flame but you can't put hot liquids in it.....that makes no sense.

I have an ocean blue Kanteen, but I wish my local REI carried the stainless bottles. They look so good.
jstnhnh you still have it lol
I almost bought a klean kantine but that goddamned squeek when you open the cap drove me nuts
seems like you could still boil water in the colored ones since its single layered and stainless steel?
Been using these for years....just got a new one as my old was scratched and dented. Got the red one.

The newer version of these are insulated
Get the plain stainless steel version and you can boil water in it no problem.
Nice Bloodsport Profile Pic!
Are you still using it today?

You make my bottle very special. God bless
@babyash707
You might want to go with the insulated bottles instead since hot liquids in the regular bottle (colored or not) will burn your hands.
