I like how back when expansion's teaser was revealed everyone assumed this guy would be a trial boss or at least a dungeon boss but nope. Just a wholesome and badass two-headed dad.
Yeah I really thought this dude would be the big boss evil tyrant behind everything, and that we'd have to kill him.
He's actually just a cool dad who wanted a friendly spar.
Tbh personally when I heard he's the dad in the end of Endwalker I'd assumed he'd be a trial, but a sparring trial situation. Wasn't too far off!
If it weren't for the rigid expac formula, there was no reason why the Gulool Ja Ja shade couldn't be a trial.

I like that the power the WoL has accrued is now so far beyond even the strongest fighters in the entire realm, and all those fighters now have heard the tales.

@@Sylfposts Because of the Echo, the WoL is pretty much able to fight on the level of the ancients... And because of the sundered nature, the WoL is also able to interact with Dynamis much better than the ancients for even more power.
Just about the only thing that can actually threaten the WoL is something that's taken in enough souls to strengthen themselves that they're effectively well past an unsundered person... For such cases, we have the power to summon backup at will.

He also comments if you've unlocked viper but not doing the duty as the job! Believe he says "so you're familiar w/ the techniques of a viper" or smth like that
did this as sam and was thinking "he knows what I plan to do when I hit 100" dropped sam then lvled viper.
@@jaendunn Yep! I unlocked VPR and PCT on launch day and spent the first few hours power leveling, then switched to MSQ the next day and went through it on DNC and noticed he made a comment about my VPR levels.

Agreed. I like dungeons, trials, and raids.
But solo duties really do have their own appeal altogether, and I hope we get more of them. I was so fun for Gulool Ja Ja to acknowledge us, and, being fond of battle as he is, inviting us over for a duel.
Something I personally want is stuff like solo savages or ultimates. I know that will be hard to make but hey the duels in bozja were already challenging so I think they can do it.
This expansion really needed more solo duties, but the few that we got were very good.
I'm happy they did ones for ARR as well, versus the one Legatus, and Lahabraea after that. I agree with the general idea of having them stuck somewhere on the duty finder as well so you don't got to go through New Games+ again for em.
I feel so bad for thinking he was gonna be an antagonist just from seeing the fight in the cinematic

2:22 It cracks me up that he got so caught up in the moment he was going to do his and his brother's special move, but oh wait. And then thinking about it, it's sad really. He wants to cling onto the past days. He wants to relive those days. Share those moments, but he can't. He's old, alone, and likely felt he had so little time left.
He made note of my having Viper but not playing it, though what he says after the fight if you main Healer like I do is nice.

I never played ff11 but I love hearing people talk about it! It has some really sick creature designs, I'm glad a lot of them came over to 14. Unbelivably hyped for the new alliance raids \o/
I know some people like to think their WoL is untouchable but I got the impression this guy would have flattened us if we'd 1v1'd him when he was a young man.

I always wondered why in a lot of trailers the player/warrior of light fights guloot ja ja now I know why he enjoys a good fight and I enjoy a very good fight as well and I'm very glad that we get to fight him Twice both in his old form and in his prime though I do wish He was a trial fight and not a solo instance fight then I can find him whenever I want and I wish for the second fight we actually fought him solo but I do get why we fought him in a group
im betting we get something akin to Memoria Misera, a trial version of one of those fights. its feels like a natural fit

If I had a nickel for every time I had a 1-on-1 friendly duel in this game with a good father figure who was known for dual-wielding and who by the time of the fight was missing an important appendage I would have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird it happened twice.

i love how his post battle cutscene dialog will comment on what role you're playing as. for healers he comments on a "healing touch", tanks are an "adamant defense" and any dps can "readily dispatch". easily viewable in the inn's cutscene viewer for those curious! it's such a fun tough, i love it when the game acknowledges actual player choice like that.
Man, I love this song...especially when Amanda's vocals kick in; don't get me wrong, Koji and Soken's vocals is really good too - but I seriously love hearing Amanda's voice; it makes me want to stand up and dance/sing along to the song...I don't know why, but there's just something about her voice that makes me love it! What about you, my friend @Uvi? What are your favorite part of this song?

When they blend together, it just elevated the song to perfection for me “Tonight the stars are crystal clear, they are Now turn the page to tales untold (All tomorrow's twists and turns-tales to see unfold with each step we take” into the guitar bit. It’s absolutely perfection

When I first saw him in the trailer I thought he was going to be another mob trial boss that we were going to fight down the line but turns out after meeting him he became one of the best characters in the game
The trailers are a wonderful bunch of "lies" that are hilarious after you play the expansion. Everyone in the trailer is saying the wrong lines in the best way.
It's nice to hear Amanda/Hydaelyn's voice in this song. She's still with us.
I love how he forgets about the Head of Reason. While… y’know, I found it heartwarming that my battle with him was so exciting, it seems he forgot himself. Like letting an old man relive the glory days. That duty battle was just amazing. Wholesome and fun!~

I think Gulool Ja Ja says different things based on your role. I fought him as a scholar and he says he hope "your healing touch" will guide Wuk Lamat. But wait.....I'm a healer. What if I'm a job that can't heal?
each role has a different dialog! Tanks are an "adamant shield" and dps can "readily dispatch the threats" you can pull up the cutscene in any inn room if you wanna hear them in full.

Those are just the regular hotbars (hotbars 7 and 8 in HUD list). I can't click them with the controller; They're visual-only for seeing cooldowns on my 2nd cross-hotbar

I was slightly worried that Wuk Lamat will just introduce herself half way or near the end of solo duty, glad that she didn't, and preserve this high point of Dawntrail.
If anything she was probably watching the whole fight through the windows or something
Man, around the time of this solo instance I thought this'll be a really fun expansion, instead of an exhausting slog. Oh well, at least I'll have those early memories.

I feel like this track is fairly decent until Amanda's part. I love her other features but this one just sounds like it belonged to a different track tbh.
That's how every expansion's main theme works, those are several tracks stitched together. Endwalker was the biggest highlight of this.
Literally the only thing I can say I actually enjoyed in the expansion was the Gulool Ja Ja boss fight. It was actually the only boss fight that was actually kinda fun. Maybe other than the Zoraal Ja one. Also Gulool Ja Ja is probably my favorite character In the new story arc so far.
I've despised this song ever since the full trailer came out. I prefer the original teaser and extended trailer version. The vocals sound terrible, and the weird added guitar sounds. The original was much cleaner and clearer, and then for some reason they decide to do this. It reminds me of the endwalker trailer where they changed it from the voice modulation sound to clearer, cleaner vocals. It's like they did the opposite. I thought for sure they wouldn't do that again after having two trailers sound basically the same, but then they mess it up and now its permanent. Such a shame.

The original was probably just a concept draft that is done early in the development. They do this until they can arrange a proper recording session and do the whole track.
As for Endwalker (and Shadowbringers at that), the voice modulation was used to conceal lyrics as to avoid spoiling too much. Both songs have some heavy interconnections and allusion to main story though one probably wouldn't realise them until they have played the story themselves. Not that I think it was needed seeing how wrong the lyrics were interpreted back when those songs were released.
This song is so ASS bro. I still have no clue what Soken was thinking by letting his bandmates do the lyrics and adding the random screeching guitar noises. The first song featured in the teaser trailer of Drawntrail was much better.
