This song gives me shivers, not because of any of the final dungeon bosses, but because of that one instance in Solution Nine, i've FELT this song in my chest in there
Trust me, there isn't a more perfect song playing, in the very last dungeon before the final boss of all DT, when you're the last survivor of your team (probably playing a tank), and fighting alone against a 50% HP left boss... Dodging all the mechanics while putting your soul into your rotation... It's far more than exquisite, it's almost orgasmic 😊
Immediately hear FFX at the beginning of it. I KNEW I RECOGNIZED IT. Was hard to really tell with friends talking and freaking out during fight, so had to listen here xD
I KNEW I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE! Enemy Attack was the first thing I heard with this boss theme. All that's missing is a tambourine going nuts during the chorus.

I KNEW SOMETHING SOUNDED FAMILIAR XD I’ve not played much on the other FF games, but I heard the music and yeah. As soon as I heard the boss theme, I said “You know. This sounds almost like FF10” XD
When the bass drops at 1:23 and I'm just vibing, I swear I can feel the whole song roll across my living room like a wave. It's unreal! I LOVE THIS SONG!
For me since the bosses are tough its real nail-biting. Healers working at full capacity, DPS trying to dish out damage to make the fight end soon, Tanks trying their best to mitigate.
During Media Tour reveal: “This theme is so boring compared to Midboss, it will never surpass Endwalker.” After Solution Nine Instance and Final Dungeon: “God…..”
Didn’t really like this track at first, but after playing through the MSQ it really grew on me. It hits very hard during the lvl 97, 99, and 100 dungeons as well as the Solution Nine solo duty.
At first I thought this wasn’t all that if a theme compared to SHB and EW but it fits the vibe so perfectly to how the pace of these bosses felt I ended up just loving it so much
This is 100% Daiki Ishikawa again. The intro just sounds like something he would do. Loud and pronounced percussion accompanied by strings to grab your attention and to create a tense atmosphere in a dungeon final boss. Though he seems to have taken some inspiration from Masashi Hamauzu and Junya Nakano from FFX for the intro. Love the intro and the bit at 1:08.
Well... when I said "100%", I did not expect it to turn out this way. This can't be Takafumi Imamura, right? Did Imamura mimic Ishikawa's music style perfectly?
So glad to see I'm not the only one who got FFX-vibes when I first heard this track! I'm also reminded of a bit of Yoko Shimomura as well (KH/KH:CoM/KH2 vibes)
I swear this is from FF16! A bunch of the music in the game does this and there’s even points during the story where this same/similar sound tells you something REAL BAD is happening. I can’t begin to tell you how much I loooove this thrum. It makes me feel so bad ass.
Yeah it was ripped straight out of Shb, EW. Let's build something together as a team to progress the story... what a fresh and never used trope... The actual scene was alright, could have been an instance
I havent seen anyone else mention it in here, so I'll share my thoughts on the boss theme. Where previous expansion themes work wonderfully alone, DT's seems almost tailor made for bosses with voicelines. Without them, this theme is still good, but the music backing what i consider excellent voice actors (at least on the JP side) really is what makes this song one of the most memorable to date.
It really gives the feeling that this theme was specifically made for urgency and stressful situations. Hence why some people were upset hearing it for the first time and onward as something we faced on dungeon final boss aren’t really that urgent. But when you hear it during certain duty instance and final dungeon, it ultimately delivers well.
Yeah I thought the same thing. You really feel that Soken worked on both 16 and DT either simultaneously or shortly after one another. Epic orchestral with a more heavy use of a choir (and this isn't the only DT track either).
I should have known the Fun Happy Summertime Adventure in Fantasy American Continents story was going to get real serious the moment I first heard this. I wasn't prepared for where things would end up. T.T
I feel like you can hear that Soken was also working on FF16 shortly before Dawntrail or simultaneously. A few of DTs tracks are more "epic orchestral" with choir in scope which is a nice change of pace as I feel 14 was really lacking those soundtracks.
Yea its very nice that both Endwalker and Dawntrail went back to the usual Final Fantasy epic orchestral stuff for most of the MSQ trial themes and less so of the cheesy vocal themes (which can be nice but it was getting out of hand). It's fine for them to leave that stuff for the raids and have the main story feel more FF-like.
From the first moment I heard the theme I was telling myself: Ok, but when will the chorus come?... Its like it was made for it to fit there. And then in the first dungeon I heard it and was not disappointed. Banger
My favorite part is that you can tell this is from FF16 sessions and it wasn’t used there. Which is great because that means we get it for 14 and the music from 16 was beyond epic. This and Endwalker’s are my favorite two Dungeon Boss themes ever created. This lives rent free in my head. During the breakdown of this, I love that it instantly makes me think of the times in 16 when something really bad is happening and you’re about to go handle it. Gah.
