CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Jack Salmon (Mark Wahlberg) follows Mr. Harvey (Stanley Tucci) to the cornfields, but when he goes to attack, he realizes that he's been chasing Clarissa (Amanda Michalka) and her boyfriend Brian (Jake Abel).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Fourteen-year-old Susie Salmon (Saoirse Ronan) is just experiencing the pangs of first love when she's viciously murdered by her neighbor Mr. Harvey (Stanley Tucci), a predatory wolf in J.C. Penney clothing. As her family slowly begins drifting apart while struggling to make sense of their loss, Susie bravely attempts to find her footing in the hereafter. Meanwhile, down on earth, Mr. Harvey is feeling confident that he's covered his tracks well enough to get away with the crime, and begins honing in on his next victim -- Susie's younger sister, Lindsey (Rose McIver), who's beginning to suspect that he's not the harmless suburbanite he portrays himself to be. Director Peter Jackson reteams with King Kong and Lord of the Rings trilogy co-screenwriters Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh to adapt Alice Sebold's bestselling novel for the big screen.

I love Peter Jackson as a director, but who read this part in the book and said "You know what this scene needs? A guitar solo
It adds to the more dramatic effect.
I liked it. But I also like the song it's from, so I'm biased.
Well that would be the difference between movies and books I suppose!
😂
@@doctalove9301 I would have liked a more sad emotional impact not a upbeat guitar solo
Still to this day pisses me off that this guy knocked him out when he was THIS close to getting revenge on his daughter's killer.
Revenge is a fool’s game
@@Redhawk099 except when it comes to your daughter’s killer tho. That was a cool reference tho, I also love RDR2
@@camm3217 👌👌👍
@@Redhawk099 how would you feel if your parents murder or cousin or friends murder was still out there HUH?? walking free on the streets
I know I just wanna punch the screen every time
scaryiest thing when u saw the flash of mr harvey in the bush
What minute??
@@shany094 1:26
@@shany094 you never noticed that?
No way some punk with a haircut like that could take down wahlberg
wahlberg's haircut wasn't any better
crazzi-j north not a chance
I like Wahlberg as an actor. Especially in The Departed. He's not a very big guy though. Shorter than average and was already close to 40 in this movie. Idk about a 16 year old but an 18 to maybe 25 year old imo would beat up most 40 year olds. They are much more active on average. Plus the dude is wearing an athletic jacket (letter) and if he's a varsity star especially say in football. Much tougher than your average 40 year old. I get it. He's always played tough guy roles but so has Joe Pesci
The Wahlberg we know and love would've wiped the floor with that kid.
@@FHSBlackSwarm did you really just have to give an entire hypothesis 😂
The sad part is...that was Susie’s friend Clarissa. Not once did Clarissa stop to think “Wait stop! That’s Susie’s dad!”
In the book she even attacks Susies father as well and breaks his knee
Why did Brian beat Jack up
?
@@victorianguyenkean270, Because Brian does not know him
@@alisvideosfromwevideo6733 Brian doesn’t know him
How embarrassing, imagine being a vengeful father almost getting murdered by a 16 year old kid over a mistake
music?! He was hit by a bat several times
and the actual predator was right there watching the whole time 😫🤢
Jade Ava He knew he was there and couldn’t do anything, he got away again that’s what’s so sad about this scene
He didn't got murdered. He just got knocked unconscious and got cured in the Hospital.
In the book it says he saw Harvey planning to kill another girl in the cornfield
And the investigator told him not to call anymore
Ironically if the police had came Harvey would've been arrested
The part that gets to me is Stanley Tucci with his Creepy Eyes was noticeably hiding.
When at what minute?
At 1:28
Why did that dude beat him up?! The girl told him to stop several times. Pisses me off to watch it.
He though whalbergs character was attacking his girlfriend
Mighta been on drugs...
Via_Arts • he was drunk
He was probably thinking the same way the Dad was, that a creep wanted to harm a girl he loved. Though in this case, it was his girlfriend, not his daughter.
Via_Arts • IKR THE GIRL WAS TRYING TO HELP HIM AND SHE WAS SAYING STOP AND HE DIDN’T LISTEN.
I've always hated this scene so much.
i think the music in this scene was pretty perfect, it represents the dad’s anger and anticipation to get revenge and his overall confidence in having power over mr harvey w that bat clutched so hard in his hands, as someone who loves rock and guitars, i can say with confidence that this music gave this scene justice
I honestly don't get the dislike towards it. I think it fits the adrenaline of the scene.
@@jamlym4974 yess me too !
I cant imagine how the girl must’ve felt knowing that she’s dead and no one can hear or touch her ever again:(
this role was supposed to be given to Ryan Gosling, but he was fired because he gained weight, thinking it would make him look older.
I thought Ryan Gosling pulled out of the role because he did not want to play a role that makes him look old. I didn't know he was fired.
da96103 HOW SHALLOW lmao!
Playful Fruit
That was his initial statement. I guess he would rather be seen as shallow than be seen as unwanted. Sophie's choice.
+da96103 I doubt that, haven't you seen 'Lars and the Real Girl'?
not true actually. The director said he was fired because he was too fit to play a convincing dad
I wish they added the part from the book, where Jack ran into her & she screamed, he thought for a split second that she was Susie & called her name.
When I first watched this film I found it the scariest and most emotional scene of the entire film - 4 years later and I still do
Mr Harvey has been spying on a couple in the field, for awile.
Mr Harvey made the dad chase him into the field, So the boyfriend of the girl would beat him up. Mr Harvey was afraid too. It went as planed because the dad accendently ran into the girl, and the boyfriend thought the dad was after them. That's why he was beating him.
I hate the music in this scene
klutz395 I love it! I’ve been trying to find it for so long
Brian Eno "Baby's On Fire" is what it turns into when they start fighting. Idk what the build up part was. About to do some research
Donkey it’s incredibly fitting
knkutz It’s so intense
Me too. What were they thinking?
This was a beautiful movie, so unique and just awesome overall. What makes me kinda laugh about this scene is the random epic guitar solo playing in the background as Suzie's dad is getting beat the hell up. Idk, it just changed the atmosphere of the scene for me, making it more comic than negative/sad.
Why did Brian beats Jack up
?
this part made me tear up i couldn't stop crying 😭
1:25 Dude that monmenr was well shot. The way the way the light moves on Harvey. Its taunts the audience. Like, "Too bad, so sad. You almost caught me. But almost is never enough."
This pissed me off. He gets beatin up, and Harvey stands and watches.
Wait, after that beat down, who contacted the ambulance to get Mr salmon to the hospital?
More than likely was those kids
Maybe Harvey
Well that guy had no consideration from Mr.Salmon so I’m assuming it was Mr Harvey
@@klaud7311 HA!
I'm sure the girlfriend did.
he didn't die he was breathing
Giselle Garza i love your pro pic
@Giselle Garza, I bet you’re telling that to Clarisse because we all know he’s breathing.
The feels oh geez the feels in this movie
could you please stop talking like an infant,......WTF?
Susies dad tries to beat up Mr. Harvey but gets beat up instead and Mr. Harvey is looking on and all happy about it.
Harvey told him his traps always work! It pissed me off he didn’t pick on this clue, but I understand rage.
Wrong place at the wrong time!
That's why u know movies or fake Mark Wahlberg would've bashed that kid
That kid wouldn't have got a lick in.
This scene is different from the book because both teens beat up Jack, the girl specifically breaks his knee
I'm surprised Mr Harvey didn't finish him off.
Would've much harder to dispose a grown man's body, and would be more suspicious that father was killed after daugher was.
This would never happen to Mark Wahlberg in real life.
I hate this seen, getting beat up by a teen in front of ur daughter. (All though she is dead still watched it happen).
I would have broke up with that boy immediately after this
“Baby’s On Fire” - Brian Eno
It's time for you to go home, Mr Salmon.
imagine if u actually had the balls to punch mark walberg
when i first saw this scene when i was little i cried
This film always makes me cry.
sweet jesus that was messed up
The background music sounds like it was partly from a song called “Baby’s on Fire” by Brian Eno.
This movie makes me so sad.
Stanley is awesome in this, what an actor !!
after this scene, the structore that Susie is usually on in the "inbetween", it started to collapse then I started to see the ground to start collapsing too. I was like holy shit! I am so glad she got off. or it would dragged her down. anyways, it made a big hole in the ground. but why did the entrance to hell open? which I don't understand.
Vengance or seeking revenge is a sin. Also unforgiveness.
It’s not Hell they just have to make it dramatic but basically everything is falling apart because she’s making the decision to move on and accept that she is dead, her father will never stop until she does:( I recommend the book it’s very good!
It was a call to the sinkhole, which is important to the story.
He attacked the wrong guy ❤
That's why we don't mess with Jake Abel's girlfriends...
I think its poetic that the universe made suzie watch. Think about it suzie decided to stqy in the in between instead if moving on she created and inbalance in both life and death that manifested in her family not being able to move on becuase her energy was still basically there willing them to find out what happened to her. So the universe showed her the cost of her choice.
Nice analysis.
Yo that’s AJ Michalka!!! From Aly & AJ!
Stevonnie was in this movie?!
This part made me hyperventilate and cry as a kid
Cade Yeager having revenge on Joshua Merlin Joyce LOL
didnt realize the guy beating the father up was Jake Abel .
So his character is Brian Nelson.
Such a good movie. Pissed me off though. HER BODY IS RIGHT THERE RIGHT THERE.
Cried myself to sleep tht night
& I will forever be scared of cornfields because of this right here
That kid would have got messed up by real life mark walhberg
You're welcome. I watch this movie repeatedly when im at my moms lol. I love it.
ever consider talking to a professional,.....?
That was indirect karma after he beaten up a Vietnamese kid.
After watching this scene, I’ve stopped watching the lovely bones.
That Chic He Grabbed Is Aj From Aly And Aj
She’s also Stevonnie from SU
Harvey is like slender
why did the teenager hit him so hard
crazygirl84 because he didn't get lucky
He thought he was attacking his girlfriend..and probably roid rage lol
crazygirl84 cause he thought he tried to abuse her. but the girl was telling him to stop and he didn’t listen she even felt bad.
Why did Susie stop her father? I would have loved it if he got revenge on her killer.
@Personal Jesus OK thank you. I’m still mad at the fact that the killer was allowed to live.
@@user-nl6jb6qj7v No, he wasn’t. He dies at the end. But I know what you mean. Even though he dies in the end, it still feels like he wins.
Brian was so close to getting arrested for murder
I meant he almost killed him.
If only Peter Jackson had touched base with his roots by having the scene end with the dad explicitly beating Mr. Harvey with the baseball bat onscreen in a fashion like that of the baseball bat scene of QT's Inglorious Basterds.
Eno- Baby's On Fire....
Scary scene, great song
I know this is a really random thing to notice in this scene, but for once I was thinking, "wow. The Dad doesn't actually have a gun. This is what it's like in Australia!" which is where I live.
No I do NOT care about gun laws and have no interest in discussing that issue at all. I guess I'm just not used to seeing movies where the average person doesn't have a gun in their house - so that surprised me!
Although as for Mr Harvey (I haven't watched the movie so apologies if I'm wrong), but he seems to me like the type of guy who would want to torture and slowly and brutally kill someone 😕 whereas in this scene I'm GUESSING the Dad is only being violent because he thinks someone has his daughter?
That dude has serious anger issues
Is that AJ Michalka from Aly and AJ and SheRa as the girlfriend?
Is is what I get for spoiling the movie. I regret it.
But the crazy thing is that the teen was only protecting his girl after she got grabbed by a random man
If you look at the picture at his forehead, it looks like the word 'dad' at a glance..
.
1:26 The Devil watches
its like susie was on the crib when she was lying down
GREAT MOVIE !!!
A twist that needed not to be shown
wow, i never knew it was him. he looks so different!
where is the full movie
If you live in America it should be on Netflix
Alice Sebold had a man falsely imprisoned for 16 years
“I willed him to stop” like what does that even mean?
I’m so confused why did he beat the dad up someone pls explain 😭😭😭
That was cray i feel bad for that girl 😣. That man shouldn't even get penalty he should rot in jail!
have you even watched the movie? it was a misunderstanding . dont comment if you dont know what youre talking about
I agree put him behind bars
Just realised after rewatching that this was mark walhberg and not matt damon. I really thought it was matt damon when i was 13
Why was he overlooked?
Does anyone know the name of the song in this? I cant find it anywhere :/
Baby's on Fire by Brian Eno
What’s with the music!
Watch the movie to find out if he is.
THAT IS JASON VOORTHERS AS A KID I PROMISE!!!!!
the choice of music was extremely stupid for this scene
Oh that was AJ Michalka , I didn't realize her because her role was so small...
Did she and Jake Abel even actually appear in any other scenes?
he didnt die
love this movie
i watched the movie last year
What is that music playing in the scene?
Can simeone telk me what happened
Oh my gosh if that happened to my dad I would CRY SO MUCH I would do ANYTHING FOR THAT TO me instead of him
Why did Brian beats up Jack, why did he beat him up?
Did you watch the movie yet? If so, I will tell you.
Did Mr.Salmon survive?????
What is this rated???
Pg:13
He is acting like a noob
that's why I never want to buy this movie it just too painfule to see
