I am a Taiwanese, and I have lived in Cambodia for nearly 10 years. From the beginning, I was very sensitive to everything, and now I have no feeling for everything. Cambodia must have made great progress in the past 10 years, but I think there is still great potential for future development. I am a foreigner, I am a nobody, and I have no way to decide anything, but it depends on how Cambodians decide their future. I met many bad people in Cambodia, but I also met many good people. Cambodia needs time to educate the people and develop them to be the resource of the nation as the world. Even if we have money to hire the world's best leader to serve Cambodia, for example, it is still slow progress because it is just like having the head of a horse but having the legs of a turtle.

I have different views, I think we need our people to know how the democracy system works, especially including the vote system. People that we trust as good leaders could change his political behavior, his political views after he gained the power, and a good person could become a bad person. A bad person could become a good person. We couldn't depend on someone to lead us anymore. We have to lead ourselves. We need a system that could guarantee the political power keeps check and balance that's we need.

Where democracy is "practiced" the most in Asian cultures, the Government tends to flop or resign its cabinet very often. Realistically speaking, countries that have a more authoritarian measure of government control tends to be more politically and economically stable without the involved of the Military to instigate coups, which are Cambodia and Singapore for now.

To expand further on your point, just like Singapore, Cambodia is a multi-party democracy (officially a Constitutional Monarchy just like the United Kingdom). However, just like Singapore's PAP, there are no parties strong enough to show confidence that other than the Cambodia's People Party, said party(s) are able to lead the Country into success.
Said party(s) have no track record, no experience, and their ideas are more founded in theory than practicality and reality... There's no viable proof of concept or even a prototype to refer to. At this day and age, the Kingdom doesn't need theory. It needs realities, which can be implemented now as part of a bigger picture (vision).

The impact on the lives of the Cambodian people was significant. With the dissolution of the main opposition party, the voice of dissent and alternative viewpoints in the political landscape was effectively silenced. The banning of the CNRP was not an isolated incident, as the opposition movement had faced obstacles leading up to the 2018 election. In May of that year, the CNRP was officially barred from standing in the election on a technicality4. This further restricted the choices available to the Cambodian people and limited their ability to express their political preferences.
The ruling party's actions were seen as a threat to democracy and human rights. It raised concerns among international organizations and human rights groups about the state.....

The heart of the leaders what make the place transcendent for their citizens. There are many places that have these same qualities beside Singapore. Cambodia can be one of these places if the leaders decided to lead with open heart and justice according to the civil laws and right of the people without corruption or dictatorship involved. Cambodia had been one of the transcendent country in Southeast Asia at one particular time for over 30 plus years where the people lived humbly and prosperously.

@@Khmer-cu1ow Any other places specifically come to mind? Our leaders are leading with an open heart, but the attitudes from certain Western countries and parties with a specific interest to dominate the Kingdom for their own interest is what beguiles me. I bring up Singapore because Singapore is Cambodia's closest cousin in SEA (ASEAN), whether some Singaporeans may like it or not.
Corruption can never be eliminated. The most successful Asian countries that are stable have some form or element of autocracy, which is the reality. It's not about creating a place that is a Utopia. It would be nice if this existed, but other than Scandinavian countries... this doesn't truly exist anywhere else. Again, it's about the reality. Work with what we have in the reality and continue to make tomorrow better. But we also are looking forward to focus on how to ensure overall self-sustainability for the long-term.
So far, all other parties have 0 concept of this. Only the existing party and the current form of Government does, and while they are not perfect (no government is perfect. Even said Scandinavian countries are moving in a regression in certain areas), at least our Government is doing a better job day-by-day.

If the cycle of ruthlessness is required, this will continue to be a perpetual cycle forever lasting. If Cambodia is to truly transform and evolve with the next generation, changes in approach are required. Charisma and cutting to the chase is H.E.'s approach.

Hahahah - you have a lot to learn. Look at Singapore. They've shut down and/or limited most of the political opposition. Do you know why? Because it is to ensure political stability.
This is why under our wise Samdech PM HUN Sen, he has ensured political and economic stability for Cambodia. H.E. Dr. HUN Manet will continue to build the Kingdom for the better - he has already done achieved and contributed to the Kingdom in his previous roles. Ask yourself why the opposition are either jailed or in exile overseas with the diaspora - they have even been rejected or arrested in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia AND Singapore. Why have even these countries rejected them? Because the opposition has no bottom line and incites hate and political chaos, especially against Thailand and Vietnam previously.
Look at the behaviors of said opposition. They have fanned the flames of war through the promotion of hate against ethnic groups and neighboring countries, intending to promote instability and political chaos. Do you think they are doing this for your benefit or for theirs? We all have something to gain, but who has the MOST to gain and who has the MOST to lose. In this case, it's your everyday Cambodian. They'd suffer the most under the words and actions of the blind few.
