    What’s the “The Professional” movie about?
    Mathilda (Natalie Portman from Black Swan and Annihilation), a twelve-year old New York girl, is living an undesirable life among her half-family. Her father stores drugs for two-faced cop Norman Stansfield (Gary Oldman from Harry Potter and The Dark Knight). Only her little brother keeps Mathilda from breaking apart. One day, Stansfield and his team take cruel revenge on her father for stretching the drugs a little, thus killing the whole family. Only Mathilda, who was out shopping, survives by finding shelter in Léon's (Jean Reno from Godzilla and The Big Blue) apartment in the moment of highest need. Soon, she finds out about the strange neighbour's unusual profession - killing - and desperately seeks his help in taking revenge for her little brother. Léon, who is completely inexperienced in fatherly tasks, and in friendships, does his best to keep Mathilda out of trouble - unsuccessfully. Now, the conflict between a killer, who slowly discovers his abilities to live, to feel, to love and a corrupt police officer, who does anything in his might to get rid of an eye witness, arises to unmeasurable proportions - all for the sake of a little twelve-year old girl, who has nearly nothing to lose.

    Such a masterpiece, like literally, a masterpiece. The scene that literally starts it all & the build-up. That shows who Leon really is, and how iconic as well as legendary he is. Like you don't see him, he sees you, and just like Tony said bullets slide off of him. Its a work of art. With her being his protegee. Like literally its as if you're there to feel what hes saying, to breathe in, to focus, or if its as if you're her and he's telling you this, that's how much of a masterpiece this movie is because you're just so focused on it, with the amount of emotion and heartfelt moments this film has that just connects onto you as well as attaches onto you. A film with so much build-up, filled with raw emotions and feelings with a film that is truly memorable, unforgettable, legendary, and filled with emotions that you honestly can't help but feel alongside the characters & the emotional story behind it, especially what happens at the end which just makes this film turn to a sudden turn of just pure sadness especially with the build-up & how emotionally intense it was. A film & song where its just pure black and white, a film & song that has such strong emotions & feelings from/to your heart. Its a film where you just feel pure raw emotion as if you're the character or if you're seeing it first hand in person. A film with such a perfect selection of a cast with such an underrated actor Jean Reno. Like Jean Reno truly nailed the performance like hes so underrated, and it really shows. By far one of the greatest films of all time like all the roles were nailed perfectly. Its just a masterpiece. Not only that but this movie didn't have much of a budget either, and it turned out to be so successful and one of the greatest films of all time, which you can't deny, its something that everyone agrees on, like it or not, it is. Luc Besson the director literally nailed it & also proved how even at the time you didn't need that need such a huge budget to accomplish these things, and what an era it was, and what a big name for European Films if not the greatest European film, in comparison with American films that need such a big budget to accomplish the effects, it really shows the difference between the two as all thats needed is raw emotion. Such a masterpiece, a film like I said filled with such an emotional bond that you honestly can't explain it fully, its something that you honestly have to feel it to experience it. Truly unforgettable, memorable and much more. I honestly wish it got more credit that it was unfortuantely given, it honestly deserved so much credit, especially an award for Jean Leno and his performance. Such a perfect selection, such a perfect story, film, and of course music selection. One of the few films where you experience raw emotion, and feelings. Like even the trailer itself is just amazing. A film that you honestly feel through your heart, its just heartfelt like the emotions of the film just go through your heart and makes you feel it as if you're one of the characters especailly as Leon and Maltithda, and not only that but heartbroken as well, especially at the end of the film where you see a flash of light slowly entering and then fading away knowing that hes passed & finally achieved the peace he wanted, while also having something to loose for, and love with actual roots being placed - a meaning for him which was Maltithda. Like even now, when I watched this movie, I still feel the emotions thats how strong it is, its attached, especially every time when you look back to it and it always hits you over and over again. Like it's just unexplainable, you can try your best to explain it, but its something you just gotta feel for yourself like I said and its so emotionally intense. 5 stars. A film that literally hit me hard so many times in my feelings, and made me realize the true meanings of love & life, purpose. regret, change and gave me a perspective, a will, a reason, change - everything. It literally has so many messages, and feelings, of dreams, hopes, and roots. Like man this film just changes you, pure chills, pure tears, pure emotion, pure sadness and much more as well. So much to say, its honestly endless, with so many emotions & feelings.

    It wasn't that creepy. At first, I used to think that. Looking back, she did have a crush on him and coming from a broken home to a new father figure who can't speak English let alone think for himself except kill as an assassin. He questions his mortality for once and starts to feel good about living. Probably was a very confusing set of moments for both but in the end, he wanted her to have a life and gave up his own for that when he hardly broke even his own code. The dress up scene can be seen as bad but they were both playing dress up to keep entertained because that is what she thought was a fun time since he is always serious. Especially with guns. Taking her in was not the plan but after a "cop" literally shotguns everyone and her growing state of mind, she waa growing up way to fast.
    In fact, he never made a move on her at all. Just kept giving her milk and trying to figure out what to do with his money. He portrayed a heavy amount of sadness about his way of living and she brought him back to himself. The hotel scene i feel was Matilda getting back at him for denying him something. Forgot what it was and she said what she said. I think both parts to mess with him and was believing she was falling in love with him but he even questions what does that mean. He himself was built to kill. Not to think. He is a Cleaner after all. I feel if they made a movie of her being a Cleaner and talking about it, it could be for plot lines sake, painted that way or not. It would be interesting since times would have changed for her too, growing up without anyone, not even your assassin father. She was also adopted if i remember as well. The movie does paint a lolly like theme but in the over arching part of the movie, it's actually one of the saddest movies to ever watch but in a good way. Oldman is scary as fuck!

      You know I don't know that the movie felt particularly creepy to me. It felt more like it wanted to flirt with being creepy. In particular, the movie made the girl the sexually aggressive figure that wanted a romantic relationship, while having Leon an asexual figure that preferred to be seen as a father figure.
      Now that's only mildly "sus" as they'd say this day, and there is something for having a man in a morally compromising position demonstrate "doing the right thing" by a woman. But the problem is that this sort of situation where the young girl is the sexually aggressive one trying to force the man to give up his principles is a very pedophile kind of fantasy, and I'd not necessarily think it was intended as such except that there is a lot of evidence that Besson is a creep himself.

    • @RowanBuchananroabie
      @RowanBuchananroabie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      @@celebrim1 It was likely intended that way since the director was inspired by parts of his own marriage with a 15 year old when he was over 30, sadly. It does kind of twist some of this movie knowing that. I watch it from the angle that Matilda is just doing what she thinks she's supposed to given her shitty life, and confusing her admiration and attachment to Leon for what she thinks romantic love is supposed to be. I mean, her character is only 12 years old so it makes perfect sense that she doesn't understand what she's talking about or feeling and Leon being somewhat understanding of it and being a father figure with no sexual desire to be shown turns it more wholesome.
      But I do hate the people that imply Matilda is a sexual predator and that there was a carnal love between these two that Leon had to fight so hard not to give into. Mostly because I've only ever seen grown men have this take and adults feeling that way deeply concerns me. Leon never displays anything except platonic care and love towards her and thank god for that.

      Note that in real life, simunition is used only for CQB training, as paint rounds can't reach the velocity to hit a target at great distance; simunition has a maximum range of only 200 yards. (In the case of the film, even though the politician was made to look very far the reticle image shows the politician was closer than 150 yards, within range - though making such a shot with simunition would still be rather unlikely.)
