  • In this video you can not only learn of the rarity of the 1967 Mustang K-code Hipo fastback, but ALSO hear the ‘unique’ sound of the mechanical lifter engine and experience the car under hard acceleration. This Wimbledon White icon is truly an American treasure with a documented history.

I have the six cylinder version of this car, mine is the same color exterior and interior, mine is an original six cylinder three speed manual transmission version, 1967 fastback, I’ve had mine for 37 years and it’s my first car I’ve had since high school

So nice! Fun fact about the k code. It's cam was more rowdy than the one found in the Boss 302. Ss some in the know swapped an off the shelf k code cam into their 69/70 Boss 302s.

I graduated from high school in 1975. At that time in Northeast Connecticut you could still find k codes in the junkyards. One kid put one in a clean 63 Ford Fairlane with a Thunderbolt type bubble hood, Another kid put one in red Mustang coupe. Both burnt rubber! ❤️‍🔥

What a rarity and unbelievable that Michael and Tyler again have found such an unique icon.
Most impressing, the car comes with documentation and a history. Priceless. Thanks for all the information about these HiPo GT-Fastbacks.

I enjoyed having friends in the 70's that had both 67 k code fastbacks and 67 k code gt yellow convertible 4 speed with all the HD stuff you cold get as options and a paxton super charger that was instalked day one by the owner or dealer. We had many miles and 1/4 miles of fun beating big blocks with that sweet car!

Wow, this Mustang is a great car. And like all these vintage cars, the driver's "touch" is fundamental. I had already commented some time ago on barefoot driving, and even in this case I can tell you that personally, to be in total feeling with the car, barefoot you have a real pleasure in driving. Don't worry about those who probably criticize the habit of driving barefoot: you get on with it this way.

The K code 289 was first released on the 1963 Fairlanes and Comets. 1964? K code 289 was available on 1965 Fairlanes and Mustangs. 1966 and 1967 K code Mustangs were also available with automatic transmissions.

My uneducated (as far as car history/decoding goes) theory is that buyers simply wanted the horsepower offered by the FE once those became available. Interesting that Shelby could move around 5x the amount of hipo cars than Ford itself. Interesting that Ford did not produce any '67 Cougars with the K code.

I would like to research a 67 fastback my Uncle bought new in 67, it shared all the same things on the outside except minus the fog lamps and gt stripes. Same color. The interior is where at the age of 64 have never seen another. The color was a baby blue, sported a factory 8 track stereo, red and white door marker lights, and an overhead console which continues from the bottom of the dash across the hump to just behind the front seats to where 2 round lights mounted on each side of the console lit the rear floor. It had a 289 2bbl and an automatic trans with a floor shift that had different colored square jewel lites for each gear. I absolutely Loved that car growing up. Also had the turbine style hub caps that were shown in your video. If this sounds familiar post to this channel. as a motorcity car nut, I love to learn. 👌

What a beautiful example that one is , I normally like dark green on them the most, but Wimbledon white looks great , it's more a cream colour really , I wish modern white cars , (of which many of them are, and I have one ) were that shade instead of stark bright white. By the way , why do Americans say "Wimbleton " , instead of "Wimbledon " ????🙂

yep they are super rare...I owned a real '65 K code fastback and I have been around a lot of 'stangs but have never seen one. I always felt the reason they didn't sell many was the '67 was bigger and heavier than the '65/'66 and the big block was available in the '67 so the 289 K code wasn't a terribly good performer.

Come on Guys, get real. 289's are a dime a dozen regardless if it's a 'A', 'D' or 'K'-Code. There were minor differences between the standard 289 head's & the HP heads but that was all. Find a 'Stang Fastback w/ the 'R'-Code 427FE, then I'll be impressed. I think you guys will too. Guess you just had to put out some content eh? OK, fair enough. It's a very pretty car. The Father of a guy I went to HS w/ got a new '67 'K'-Code. My neighbor across the street bought new a '67 Camaro. The 'Stang was better looking. Something about the fastback that Chevy finally gave the 2nd gen Camaro.
