My father was staff manager of Selfridge's before WW2 under Gordon Selfridge, my cousin Walter was a doorman, and both my sister and I worked there as sales assistants. Both on the ground floor: she in cosmetics, while I sold gloves and hats. Meanwhile, mum was a senior sales assistant at Harrod's! A real department-store family. 😀
The history of Selfridges - incredible. They were first in many things, including selling make up, and having items on display for customers to actually touch! Loved the tv series. The store owes your family a lot, for your hard work through the generations.
I got recommended your channel a few weeks ago, and been addicted to binge watching them to relax and unwind. It's rare to find a likeable youtuber 😂 you're a joy to watch. Thank you for producing entertaining content. You deserve 1 million subs! ❤
My mum used to work in Selfridges in the 1960s. Every time we visits she likes to point out all the changes to the store and how it all looked in the 60s! 😆
Love my Friday mooch with Hannah, hyping me up to go shopping on the weekend, then remembering I don’t want to be an anchovy packed into a shopping hall with all the other shoppers. Hannah out here doing the hard work for us, thank you got your service 😂❤
"Any surplus food from the Foodhall will be distributed to three charities: City Harvest, a charity that donates leftover food from the industry to those in need; Shoreditch-based charity The Little Things, who create food packages for vulnerable households; and HEROES, a new charity supporting the welfare and wellbeing of NHS staff."
@hannah tip for detoxing. Get yourself chard, or chicory, dandelion, or rocket. Wash, bring to the boil. When cooled down drink a small glass of liquid. Store in fridge for 3 days. As for the greens, a little bit of olive oil, salt to taste and lemon. Healthy detoxing meal. A recipe from ancient greek times. Do this every week. Cheers kiddo!!!!
Hello from Canada! Your videos are just lovely to watch and it is great to see the changes over the decades. Thanks for taking us along back to the homeland, shopping in London!
I got to visit London 5 years ago and only had time for Selfridge or Harrods and I picked Selfridges. I loved it sooooo much! Those little fruits that look like yellow tomatoes are persimmons, yum!
Hi Hannah, am so glad this video confirmed that I didn't "miss" anything when I was in London last month (mid-Sept), and didn't make a special trip to Selfridges. I agree with your thoughts at the end: Harrods food halls are far superior -- I couldn't stop taking pictures of things as I walked through, plunking myself down at their coffee bar for a cappuccino when I needed a break. The BEST part, tho', was later in the day, finding Harrods Champagne Bar where I grabbed a seat and had a glass of 2016 Moet and Chandon (= "lunch"!). Perfect ending to a day's worth of shopping. Can't wait to see your upcoming holiday videos -- they're always great fun. Cheers!
Good to go round Selfridges today. They have been in business in Oxford Street for nearly 170 years. I used to shop there in the 1950’s. Not the cheapest, but always realistic prices. Like your new coat Hannah.
Manchester Tart. When I was school it was a pastry case with a layer of jam, then filled with a set custard finished with hundreds and thousands. Delicious. But I was in receipt of free school meals, so all food was delicious.
Can’t believe you’ve been doing this for about 5 years Hannah. You only popped up on my suggestions a couple of weeks ago and I’m slowly working my way through your ‘back catalogue’. You seem the pleasant sort, not pretentious and all round good egg. Keep up the good work, interesting stuff. I lived in London in the late eighties working in casinos and had a great time, it’s good to see some of the places I remember.😊
I love Selfridges as a store, but the food hall isn’t a patch on Harrods, sorry. In terms of sheer spectacle Harrods wins hands down. Great vlog as always 😊
Wow Onion Baji scotch egg what a fabulous idea. I don’t blame you for buying lots of stuff sometimes it’s about what you want and not what you need. Thanks so much 💜🐻
Hey Hannah, your vlogs are absolutely the best I love to watch them the way you present them is the best , very British and I love it, you make me laugh it's a little pretentious a little bit snobbish and it's ok I personally love it....I'm watching from the USA you're the best, please don't stop. Thank you so much for sharing.
I love going shopping with you Hannah. My dream was always to go to England and see where my grandparents came from, but I'm too old to make the trip now and that's why enjoy your vlogs as you roam around showing us foods and gorgeous buildings.
Biltong and Droëwors are the most delicious savoury treats in South-Africa. We enjoy it anywhere everywhere and is ESPECIALLY served when our World Cup champions, THE SPRINGBOKS, are playing. It is a tradition that started 200years ago when people did not have a freezer to keep their meat in. So they used spices and dried the meat in the open air.
And it was South African Maritime Salvage Master, Capt. Nick Sloane who headed operations to raise the Costa Concordia and remove the giant behemoth from polluting the environment! He's a world champion, too! Give this man a lifetime supply of these savory treats!💜🛳💜
I do love a mooch through a posh food hall. The cakes at the start - amazing. And the gorgeous tins. So much fab food way out of my budget but fun to see.
We found your channel a while ago and have been hooked since. Always hilarious when youve had a coffee and it kicks in then you start going off on tangents and forgetting what you first were talking about 😂

Your 7 pound Croissant would cost me $12.57 CAD. OUCH! Can't see anyone in Toronto or Vancouver willing to pay that much. I could be wrong. Someone please correct me if I am. I am always surprised at how they display really expensive items out in the open. Not a chance here. Love your choice of music to go along with your videos. This is another awesome Friday here in sunny Oklahoma watching my favorite Friday afternoon show with Awesome Hannah and as always watching and listening to your great knowledge and shopping in the various stores in London Selfridge looks like a great grocery store to shop at. you always brighten up my Friday's and I always enjoy seeing the city of London thank you Lady Hannah. 👻🎃👻🎃🇬🇧
Hey Hannah, Thank you for the lovely vlog! I really enjoyed it, especially the shopping tour. If you don’t mind, I’d love to see more of those, especially in the winter - it’s much better to stay cozy inside the shopping centers when it’s cold! 🤗Anyway, happy Friday, and I hope you have an amazing weekend!💐🇬🇧❤🇺🇸💐
The glass cabinets can't be helped. When I worked at Warren James the glass would be cleaned every half an hour as people left finger prints on the glass and as soon as you were done... the prints would be building up again. I can only imagine a shop as busy as Selfridges is going to be a lot worse for window pokers.
But even the inside of the glass cabinets, looked a bit shabby in places, a big disappointment. Harrods must be constantly cleaning, as their display glass is gleaming.

Amazing .I really love your videos hannah.seeing all the great shops .and different bits of London.this was a really amazing video thank you so much hannah.from Dan.m
Just had mega flash back to my first and only try of truffles and it was not pleasant at all. Ended up with food poisoning (it was a risotto). So no truffle for me been turned off for life!!!. Definitely love a cured meat. Favourite is prossuito and pancetta. Love wrapping it around beans and asparagus. Definitely agree that Harrods seems to be the best one to go to. They say you shop with your eyes and nothing in Selfridges really jumped out at all. We went down to the Gold Coast for our anniversary this week and found that the staff in David Jones (our Harrods) were really rude and stuck up. But in Myer (our Selfridges) the staff were amazing. Love the look of all the hot chocolate and definitely at tea bag girl also. Remember my grandmother was a tea leaf drinker always remember having bits stuck in my mouth. Sent you a small gift on me. Have a fantastic weekend and week. Catch you next Saturday morning ❤❤❤❤
I want the hedgehog, without the bag! Hahahahaha - beige food? I love that saying! Let's go to Harrod's again! I loved it when I was there years ago. I bought one of their Harrod's name fanny packs in their lovely dark green color. I wore that thing for years when I was out in jeans, etc. I think I may even still have it! lol I thoroughly enjoyed the video again, and I always love looking at the beige food! lol xoxoxoxo
Hannah, I love your videos and look forward to each of your new adventures around London. You visit lovely places and do the things I would do if I could. Please continue as you have and count on me to accompany you in spirit!
Great vlog Hannah to compare to Harrods. Some interesting fruit we’re not familiar with. We’re with you on the tea leaves…too much time spent when drinking multiple cups a day. That Sac Bag purse was different and always love your off the cuff comments 😊
Wow this shopping spree gives me the vibes you have been more entertaining and you explain so nicely with good advice ok love to watch you listen to you you are a majesty beautiful angel of my heart ❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗
Best day of the week, and the best way to spend a Saturday morning, having a mooch about London with Hannah❤ Your videos have given me so much joy. And from previous videos, Harrods food hall looks better, it looks more high end and tidy.
I really agree with you, it certainly looked unloved and a bit grubby. It doesn’t take long to straighten packages etc especially at those prices. I will keep to good old Tesco lol🤗
A friend of mine and hubby's bought Biltong at a festival, ate it all and then went for a few 'trots' along the way! Then in the evening, his constitution restored, we all tucked into a curry at one of Tewkesbury's finest. What a star! I love your foodie vlogs.
I used to work in that food hall in the 90s. Interesting that people would come in for their weekly shop including truffle and osso bucco. It was very buzzy atmosphere with frequent celeb spotting. Having said that, at one point I worked in the bakery section and they made us try and sell off some of yesterday’s leftovers as fresh bread. Always awkward when customers question the freshness. I can tell a lot of supermarket bakeries try this now. Very annoying. Goes to show even high end places are not always above board.
My father was staff manager of Selfridge's before WW2 under Gordon Selfridge, my cousin Walter was a doorman, and both my sister and I worked there as sales assistants. Have visited a few times when in the UK from Australia but as we say over here maybe it's all a bit of a "wank" 😅
Her London walks during Covid saved me.
My mum used to work in Selfridges in the 1960s. Every time we visits she likes to point out all the changes to the store and how it all looked in the 60s! 😆
I live in Canada now but I also look at these videos and remember what it was like in the 60s
Love my Friday mooch with Hannah, hyping me up to go shopping on the weekend, then remembering I don’t want to be an anchovy packed into a shopping hall with all the other shoppers. Hannah out here doing the hard work for us, thank you got your service 😂❤
I worked at selfridges 1973 age of 15. Top of the shop restaurant. Fun times 😊
Bought a multicoloured mini dress in Selfridges in 1969 when I was a young teen visiting from Canada. I was so proud of that dress. 😄
I love the little bits of text at the end of your videos.
Hi Hannah. My family all love your content. Keep producing the lovely London vlogs. 💜👍🏻

So glad you post these fun, informative and entertaining videos about London . You are truly one of the great producers here on TH-cam.
Opinions and commentary are so funny. It’s like I’m walking around with my daughter chatting in my ear.
It’s always been my dream to visit England. Since it’ll probably never happen, I live for these vlogs!
DOnt bother. It's full with immigrants
You’d be very welcome here 🏴 hope you make it one day ❤
Really hope you can visit us one day ❤❤
Don't worry. Nothing in this video is made in England, except moaning.
These are great vlogs, I know this isn't a comedy channel but I smile and chuckle watching these...

I feel like we need a breakdown of your outfits at the start of every video. Amazing clothes & bags in every video 👌🏼
i want that trench coat.
I totally agree! ♥️
I find it hard to digest that you are just 21!!
You come across with much more experience and wisdom,
Wisdom beyond your years.
Just praising.
Love coming home to watch Hannah shop 😊. Lovely start to my weekend!

Is it not time that we demand a Hannah Rickett's TH-cam channel purely devoted to cake? Who's with me?!
I love your videos Hannah. The only way I'll see the inside of Harrod's, Fortnum & Mason, Selfridges. Your comments are priceless.
Thank you again Hannah. It was worth the wait. You made my otherwise boring Friday. 🎉
Manchester Tart. When I was school it was a pastry case with a layer of jam, then filled with a set custard finished with hundreds and thousands. Delicious. But I was in receipt of free school meals, so all food was delicious.

Manchester Tart at school was yummy.
The phrase Manchester tart makes me giggle like a schoolboy.
Loving this food video!! I am a fan of Turkish delight, the Fry’s brand in the purple wrapper especially 😂

Great tour Hannah, Harrods just has the edge over Selfridges imo, cant wait for the Christmas food and gift vlogs👍
Thanks again Hannah for your delicious video. ❤
Great vlog! The food vlogs are always my favorite!😊
Beautiful and wonderful as always 🙂🇮🇪☘️💚
Great video Hannah, the answer to your question Blur or Oasis is always Suede, the band of a Generation still making great music now.
Hi from Athens Greece !!! Really love your blogs!!! So to the point.
