I really don't understand how you can play a unit and not immediately look at the damage numbers on the floor, out of habit, and notice the big red "X" and go "uhhh??" What is he looking at?
The high speed really keeps hurting nl. He kept saying how much he loves his spiker with life steal, without successfully giving it lifesteal even once since the morsels all killed themselves on enemy thorns
On the one hand, it's 45 episodes in and NL still hasn't realized that morsels can die to spikes. On the other hand he made way fewer obvious mistakes than usual.
@@colinmiller9941 I think they do? I would have thought that a morsel would be considered "hp gain" and not "healing", but it looked like the +3 health morsel trigged the heal trigger and gave his one unit spikes. Not entirely sure on that though.
Hey NL, for your consideration: the trampling Umbra champion deals 180 damage at the highest level and takes up 6 capacity, meaning you have to take a capacity upgrade or some artifacts to even play him, while the highest level architect champion deals 100 damage and actually takes up negative space, so you can build an entire floor around it
It's because he always builds up all 3 floors, rather than stacking one floor. I can imagine him thinking architect isn't as good because he wouldn't normally have enough units to cover all three floors with it.
This video is fun because while most misplays are hilariously awful decisions at clutch moments, this one was just a slow trickle of minor mishaps that subtly ruined the run, including neglecting Fel's mechanics, feeding morsels to units that don't need them instead of going all in on the top floor gorger, mixing lifesteal with damage shield, and not getting any ember to go with his draw. My fav though is spending the money for a reroll at the first merchant of steel to get more stuff but without realizing he only had Train Stuarts left.

Putting aside the poking fun at you, it's ok, you judge your deck by how it feels, and after enough games the "feel" can become pretty accurate to the actual qualities. I do think NL is improving loads with each episode and am thoroughly enjoying this series! I have a few small comments that might move the needle a bit. * Try to feed morsels to units with feed, the extra effect is often better than the morsel bonus, especially energy morsels * Make sure you upgrade low damage spells before the floors where backline units start having 5 health, or they become dead cards, with thin decks this is even more relevant * Removing a train steward is good, but if you just play it at the front of the bottom floor it purges for that fight regardless, a 2 damage spell bloats your deck much longer
I think NLs starting relic counters the enemies on all floors challenge I usually always turn that one on since u barely lose much pyre hp from it anyways
I find it funny that he still has not realized that spikes kill all morsels with attack unless u daze em on the top floor. He keeps thinking he's stacking that lifesteal lol.
It's a really good card. It falls off a bit for the last few floors, but removing a backline enemy and generating high-quality morsels are very good effects. I think he tunnel visioned a bit this episode on using Antumbra Assault on his own units, but IMX it really is a very good, flexible card.
@@ysqure3 Yeah, Antumbra Assault is a really good card, the problem is that NL didn't upgrade it for extra power this episode, so they didn't scale well and couldn't kill back line enemies in the later battles.

Honestly I think it came down to something as simple as too few units. 1 champ and 2 tanks, all on their own floor. The tanks could hold out for a while but there were no damage-heavy units to back them up.
NL really needs to start taking more cards. Literally about a third of the cards in the game he's never used, passes in ideal situations, many of whom are extremely good(including the best in the game), being like "I just think it'll be bad." They added the system of making your cards gold to encourage trying new things, but you keep doing the same thing over and over(and wondering why it fails).
Oh, I was upset that he didn't take Engine Upgrade right around before the Fel fight. He had relics giving him draw, and he had the capacity on the Thorned Hollow floor (since it doesn't need to morsels much anyway), but no energy to play all the cards he was drawing. Especially again the cards Fel was putting into his deck, an extra energy would have made a world of difference I think. I think it takes a lot of time in the game to get, but NL knows which cards are good and how to put good cards in his deck, but the next step is understanding your deck's weaknesses and shoring them up.
Some cards are just bad dude. I believe that he doesn't know the value of certain cards yet, but if something isn't broken, don't fix it. There are a lot of cards that I will take just about every time, and many that I will never take; I don't like your point of "taking the same thing over and over." Most of times that he loses is due of misplays, misplays that he can learn from.
This video showcases why I think the trample champion is trash. Too little HP to survive on its own? Check. Not enough attack to even break frontliners and trample over the backline? Check.

Antumbra assault becomes useless compared to other cards as soon as it can’t kill enemies(like the third fight). Spikes kill morsels. Play your morsels on your gorger first to stack it. Haven't played the game much, but is it that good? It seems like a pretty minor effect, but maybe the point is to abuse the gorge by giving it tons of morsels. Certainly, the trample version of the champion didn't look super strong in the video. He definitely needs to be on an upper floor for the trample to actually do anything worth mentioning.
@@FlakManBegins the gorge champ can get ridiculous. Becomes a +12/+6 at stage 3. Relic which doubles gorge, 24/12 Pair with Morselmaker and Morselmaster on same floor. Even without those extras, he can get up there and do some amazing work
@@Bird4002 Funny enough I find with the gorge champion(whom I agree is the best, I love him) I often feel the need to give him trample with the consumable card because sometimes this huge ammount of damage gets wasted on a single unit...and I don't want any straggler go to the pyre... So in a way the trample champion is the best...it's just that he's in the body of the gorge champion because you can't otherwise give him gorge :D

I slept on Thorned Hollow for a long time, thinking Awoken Hollow was better, but once I tried him I never went back. I sincerely believe he's one of the best, if not the best, tanks in the game.
Thanks for the pogged content NL! No one plays perfectly early morning and late in the recording session so I'm sure the mistakes (as entertaining as they are) will get ironed out over time. For spike boy I throw restore on it more because each adds 2 spikes from both the first heal and the regen at the end of the turn. Always waiting for the next episode!
This one was already lost on the challenge floor with unit full heal. Multiple incants on the beefy guys, taking them out of single hit range was really bad for your pyre health.
Lots of morsel misplays, but the more subtle thing that could have saved you was stacking spikes on that thorned hollow. If you had been diligent on that the boss you died to would have melted.

If I play the same game, I hate to watch people play games like this because I like the surge of discovering my own unique tricks and methods. If I see someone else do it, then I don't get as much joy from figuring out all the genius synergies and such.
So we're getting to that point where you're growing complacent with certain card picks like Glimmer and Antumbra Assault. I foresee a stallout on this Covenant Level.
I need to know what the thinking was for putting trample champ on the bottom to die on the first turn on the first fight. Trample should go on top in most fights anyway since trample works best when enemies are weakened. But especially when 5/1s come out that'll only be 1/1 by the time they reach the top, you should probably not be yeeting your champ on the bottom
It all went wrong the moment you didn't prioritise giving Morsels to the Crucible Warden, stacking up on damage shields for the boss would have been ideal. Also as much as Antumbra Assault is great early, it doesn't scale well into mid to late game. Picking more of them when you already had 2 was not the best idea. As a rule of thumb, you dont wanna stack both Damage Shields and Lifesteal on the same unit; you lose a Lifesteal stack after an attack even when you're at full hp, while the Damage Shield prevents you from taking damage, nullifying 1 of the keywords. Ideally you wanna stack Lifesteals on 1 unit, and Damage Shields on another unit! Just constructive criticism 😄
some stuff you would notice if you wouldnt go super fast: if you have damage shield 2 if will do nothing if you give him lifesteal 1 and your poor spike lord™ you give your champion useless heals and he could use them against relentless guys sooo well
NL I'm gonna let you in on a little secret: Trample sucks ass, it's a worse than sweep or multistrike. Also the fact that the trample umbra champion causes it take up so much capacity makes it hot garbo
Only problem with your gameplay is that you have a habit of not fully understanding the effect that cards have until after you've played them. This isn't 100% your fault since sometimes there are so many synergies that its hard to keep track of them all, its more so something that you (and I myself) could definitely improve on. Regardless theses are always fun to watch :) Just remember to slow down and consider the possibilities :)

With rejuv triggers don't undervalue restore! Its a insta heal (+2 spike) and then a rejuv (+2 spike)
