That last enemy shadow-stepping his way across the battlefield with 1 HP like Aria Stark was absolutely heartbreaking. Don't get too discouraged, Brother. It happens. Thanks for the content, NL. I appreciate it.
NL, it is often a good idea to build your deck to have 2 floors that can stop normal enemies, and 1 floor that can trash the boss. Lifesteal Gorger is almost always better at fighting bosses than Damage Shield Gorger, and Lifesteal is better than Damage Shield against normal enemies if placed on the bottom floor. Damage shield gorger wants attack, multi-strike, and quick buffs (most of which tend to be rare and expensive), while Lifesteal Gorger want Largestone, battlestone, hp buffs, and attack buffs (most of which tend to be more likely and cheaper).
@@chand3123k Agreed. It is not an interaction I would have noticed cause usually if you're doing a gorge floor you're not thinking of your morsels factoring into the damage output. Its just that the margins were so fine that it cost him here.
Usually, with the guard, the central idea is to build up one thing, then release a huge burst of damage on the last floor. Spell weakness is meant to be built up, as you can't cast spells on things in the pyre room. If you're able to heal or protect your pyre enough, frostbite will excel because it still takes effect in your pyre room. However, spell damage is often better due to the fact that it can be released in a massive burst on the third floor, while frostbite is just a few taps against enemies other than bosses

At 19:25, would taking the stone not have been a good idea since it would give ALL his minions, even morsels, +5 attack? Morsels do attack before being eaten. But maybe I am missing something.
Most of the times, it's great, as long as you can deal with the loss of morsels when you get spiked enemies. But if you combined this relic he passed with the other one he passed giving morsels a Damage shield? That would have been fantastic.
NL, the relic that gives morsel units damage shield 1 is great for countering sweep, which was your glaring weakness from the start. Still, a solid effort and a very entertaining video my dude
Icestorm is THE spell that gets the most advantage from Spell Weakness. Each of the 5 hits gets boosted by the spell weakness (the first one doesn't get rid of the stacks of spellweakness). Give it magic power upgrades(and ideally artifacts that boost magic power), and maybe holdover, and it can easily do hundreds of damage a turn for a cheap cost.
If you have spell weakness champ, you need some way to finish the boss off after stacking it. Take a good damage spell first before something that helps you find your damage spells.
Super Duper Pro tip, no Kappa. X cast spells are VERY good with cracked anvil. Whatever you choose for X is considered their cost. So getting 4x prismal Dust reduces all spells of 3 cost or lower to 0.
There is 0 chance he wins vs Fel, as it stands he would have attacked about 9 maybe 10 or 11 times depending on the top decks, for about 60 damage. Fel had 1100 health left so he is 500 off still.
first Stygian Guard run without NL talking badly about their champion? what delicious character development!! if it makes you feel any better, I would have made the same missplay in the end there ahahaha
Your worst play this run was using your champion on the last floor. Ideally, you want your champion that applies spell weakness on the second floor, it has more survivability and you can actually cast a powerful damage spell on the third floor.
NL, on the Caverns event that you didn't like any option, Weathered Coldstone is actually worth trying. Especially if you've already taken energy. It gives you a few 1 cost blights, that do very minor damage to your pyre if ignored, but any time you play them, it turns them into 1 cost Pyre Heals.
But it fills your deck with garbage, and bad draw can easily end a run. I only take that option if my Pyre is in desperate need of health or I have an extra thicc deck (or Dante cuz you know, blight cards are good then).

Tips: Silence disables triggered abilities like Revenge or Resolve, it is a bit misleading though. You didn't get any gold from the silenced gold unit because his gold trigger was silenced... Morsel Maker is actually a bad unit to have on the same floor as a fighting gorging unit as you often won't have capacity to give your unit life steal morsels etc but if you do then great. If you have 200 gold and the shop is useless for you, don't just buy it all anyway.... Save your gold and buy an artifact on the next couple floors, this would help you win so much more vs the last boss. Also next time you come across the cavern that gives the choice of 25hp upgrade, pyre heals 5 per kill or heartless, plz take pyre heals 5, it is insanely good, half the units that get to the pyre are tanks and do no dmg and others do like 2-5 dmg so most of the time your pyre will be full hp even if you fail a floor. i didnt realise shroud mitosis made copies in thesame level, ive been avoiding it because i thought it added 3 copies to hand and they would still have to be played, that cards sick knowing it works that way now
1:35 - The comparison you make here is not full. The cheaper spells allow you to pog out an incant floor that's out of this world, and also spell weakness champ will only allow to kill everyone AFTER they attack and take away some of your tank's health (and maybe even sweep/spike your weaker units to death). Edit: 20:25 - Why? What do you care that you have 2 ember left after casting it instead of 1, if everything else costs 0? Instead could've put it on the non-holdover Titanstooth, so it too would become free, and have all spells free instead of all but 2.
For your second point, I think it's because the relic doesn't reduce unit cost, only spell cost. having 2 ember left instead of 1 allows for NL to play morselmaker if he doesn't draw it early.
I'll be straight with ya. I knew it wasn't a victory from the video length. However, around the 6:45 mark I figured this was going to be a two loss video and it wasn't, so... Yo NL The hybrid stygian champ that has both spell weakness+ frostbite is AMAZING. put good tanks or the sap lodestone in front of that bad boy and he will destroy all bosses.
12:07 Resolve doesn't trigger after every round of combat against a relentless boss, though. If you have a 0 attack Morselmaker on a floor against a relentless boss, at most it'll soak up a few hits. It would be better if you put it in front of your champion.
I try. Fel comes up to the floor with 1109 hp, 19 frostbite. Instead of misplaying his gourd off, suppose NL gave "Gorge Collector" 2 damage shield with "Primal Dust", then next round he plays the holdover titanstooth. The floor effectively has 15 damage shield and 71 hp. Fel attacks for 10 twice each round so the floor survives 11 rounds. 29 frostbite in 11 rounds does 264 damage. The floor does 64 damage each round it survives for 704 damage. then there's two frostbite ticks at the end as fel finishes off Morsel Maxwell. I think that's a total of 1010 damage, so it would be very close. If I'm off by 1 round it's 1091 which is exactly 3 spears away from a kill.
