Deine Antwort ist genau richtig...Well done! :-) Ich drücke dir weiterhin ganz fest die Daumen für deine BA. Mach aber immer wieder Pause zwischendurch, auch wenn's lediglich ein Spaziergang ins Wohnzimmer ist...mit einem Zwischenstopp in der Küche. Bleib gesund! 😊 #LebenInQuarantäne

    Why didn't you use "U" for you in sentence number 5?

    • @edolanguageinstitute
      @edolanguageinstitute  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. Probably because there is more than one main subject in the sentence. The only grammatically correct option here is uwẹ or wẹ. U alone would be grammatically incorrect. However if the sentence was "You are at home" meaning only one main subject in the sentence, then you'll have to use U. The Ẹdo sentence would be "U rr' Owa."

    What about the pronoun “yen” e.g yen ma re vbe ena (he or she didn’t come to day)

    • @edolanguageinstitute
      @edolanguageinstitute  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s not “yen”, it’s “ihẹn”. Ekelvin ma rre vb' ẹrẹna. (Kelvin did not come today.) Ekelvin wẹre ihẹn ma rre vb' enode. (Kelvin said he did not come yesterday). There two other cases where ihẹn is used. I'll go into that some other time.

    if there is no gender pronoun, how would someone knows who you are talking about in a book or speech

    • @edolanguageinstitute
      @edolanguageinstitute  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kelvin Osemwengie There is simply no gender marking in Edo pronouns. Neither for human nor animals. Edo nouns, however, can inherently carry gender information e.g. Edede = old woman. Edionmwan = old man.
      Uvbi = female adolescent/teenager/young lady
      Adaze = male adolescent/teenager/young man

    • @edolanguageinstitute
      @edolanguageinstitute  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Kelvin Osemwengie in a book or speech you'd consider the context. Sometimes we'd also add okhuo (woman) or okpia (man) to a noun just to indicate gender e.g. "om' okhuo = female child = daughter". "Om' okpia = male child = son"
