Thanks for the Video. I when I started looking into mid-size off-road trucks I was aiming for the Colorado ZR2, I test drove the Trailboss but wasn't happy with the feel of the steering wheel. Overall the ZR2 felt much better, also the look from the ZR2 is great and as you mentioned the upgrades that the ZR2 has are absolutely top. BUT I was trying to get a ZR2 (custom ordered) for almost 3 months but my dealer didn't get any allocations. So I started to go back to my decision board and ended up with the Ford Ranger Raptor. Besides that my dealer had one on the lot and sold it to me msrp, I just felt the over all build quality much better, of course I love the V6 engine but my over all fell of the interior was just much better. Although I wish I could transfer a few things from the ZR2 to the Raptor (rockslides instead of step board, ventilated seats, buttons for rear and front locker, that compartment in the tailgate). Well over all you have a great Truck and I hope you will have a lot of fun with it for a long time.
@@JT4X4OFFROADING I personally think it's worth it. The price difference for me was only 3.5k (after I added all the stuff I wanted for the ZR 2, there is nothing I need to add at the Raptor because it has everything already included). Like I said there a few small things I would like them to change in the future but nothing that makes me regretting that I got this Truck.
Great video... I have a 24 GMC Canyon AT4X and love the truck. I just road tripped the Canyon to Vegas. To LV- 17.5 mpg / back to home -18mpg all traveling around 80mph on the highway.
Hey I bought a 23 Chevy LT with the performance package. Loved the truck but i started having problems and had to bring it back to the dealership and shop 6 times in 4 months. I lemon lawed it and bought a 24 Tacoma trd off road instead. I still subscribe and follow you since you were the one I look for in Colorado content when I got my LT. I just wish my LT didn’t have give me so many problems.
I’m getting around 20 miles a gallon in my 2024 ZR2 which is pretty damn good and way better than my 2017 Tacoma that was lifted! And yes, I did not need to lift my ZR2 anymore. It’s still factory! And I love it!
AEV snorkel, magnaflow overland exhaust, and 17" method wheels should give you back few mpg. Don't do it if you're planning to move to a ZR2, and just save it for that. Which I fully support the ZR2 move.
Reference the roof issues...yes for whatever reason Chevy didn't put any roof supports in. Luckily, I hadn't had any roof damage related to going thru the car wash, but you could hear the roof "popping" as you exited the wash. I have had the TSB performed & it seems to have helped with the "popping" noise. Hendrick installed roof stabilizers. I too can't understand how they overlooked that.
Bro I emailed Morimoto a few months back and asked them to please consider us for some custom projector/DRL housings. They said they would pass my request to R&D team but who knows if they did. Everyone with one of these needs to email them and make the same request.
That’s awesome man, I’m dumbfounded that there’s not an option out there yet. The fact that this truck comes with halogen is beyond me. Chevy really messed that one up.
I have had my Trail boss for over a year. I have 21,000 miles with no upgrades. I get about 400 miles on a tank of gas. I couldn't be happier when I compare it to my brothers Tacoma. I think your truck is awesome but unless you off road I would keep the stock tires. 32 inch tires are fine for a random powerline. My biggest hold up is the lack of options like a selectable rear locker. I will probably never off road seriously so Chevy is probably right that the mechanical diff is fine as I don't think most people off road much. I, however, would have happily paid for that option just to have it. I also found it ridiculous that they don't offer interior upgrades like leather and heated seats like the z71 and ZR2. I am thinking about 275 BFG KO3s when I replace the tires. Do I need the lift that you have done just to fit them comfortably if I'm not planning on off-roading? Awesome channel and thanks for your videos.
Thanks for the comment, that is crazy. You’re getting such good gas mileage. It must be the less aggressive tread. I also agree, the options on a trail boss should be much better, I shouldn’t have to up spend $10,000 to the ZR two to get the things that we can get on the trail boss, and as for your tires, you do not need a lift kit for that size unless you really wanted to get one.
The TB is supposed to be the budget off-roader. If you start adding options, it starts to not make sense financially really quick compared to a base ZR2. If you want a nicely appointed TB, the Canyon AT4 is where it’s at.
@@Holden-McGroin You make a valid point and my truck with every package came in at 41ish which is good when looking at the other vehicles out there. To get mechanically almost the exact same truck in the AT4 with a better interior and some neat bells and whistles prices out at 49-50k. At that point the ZR2 makes way more sense if off roading is something you are considering. When I ordered mine I needed a new vehicle and waited 3 months for my truck and ZR2s were not going to be available for some time. In hindsight I might have justified the extra money for the ZR2 had I had the opportunity to buy one. If 41k is what you have then the Trail Boss is great. If you wanted a more capable vehicle you will probably see the frustration that we are mentioning when you are waiting for the locker to kick in thinking just let me pay another 1k - 2k for a package that allows me to have the locker when I want it. My recommendation is to take a hard look at the the ZR2 now that they are available as it is a good value for what you get.
Hey there, I bought a new 2024 Trailboss, and it didn't have the trailer package, but they told me as a deal that they would install the hitch and 4/7 pin, and told me that I would have the same towing rating 7700 as if it had come with the trailer package, would u know if this is true or will I be able to only tow half? Thanks
I purchased the Z71 as I do very little off-roading and for the led headlights. I installed a 1” lift with 275/65R18 all terrain tires and my mileage didn’t even drop 1 mpg.
Would you recommend? I have a 2018 Colorado LT and I am looking to do some mild, but capable off-roading/overlanding. The only issue is I can’t get over how many MPGs I would lose if I switched my tires!!
@@snowm8nrl If you’re not going planning on doing any mudding, all terrain tires would be your best bet, as they are fairly capable for mild off-roading without hurting mpg’s. Just my 2 cents
A car wash blower put a dent in my roof at 400 miles on mine,, the car wash payed to fix it,,cost 250 to fix it,,I only have 4K miles on mine, I drive it when I want too! I got a lighted front bow tie on mine!
Put opposite pressure in the middle of the roof behind the dome lights with your hands about 18-24" apart during the dryer phase. I have avoided dent by doing this. Is it annoying and stupid? Yes. But its got my thru for now.
I just purchased a 2024 ZR2. Is anyone having issues with their truck bed rails bending when adding a track bed rack? I’ve had the same FrontRunner truck bed rack installed in my 2019 Zr1 and 2021 Bison Colorado’s. Installed it to the new truck and it bent the rails. The rack weighs 65lbs and my load was 185lbs distributed. The manual or the dealership did not let me know that the steal is much thinner on the new truck bed rails. The dealership put in a request to cover the repairs. Got my fingers crossed
years and years of poor quality light. It’s the 21st-century, LEDs are more efficient and you can see the road better! Our 76 International has the same quality halogen as the trail boss lol Thats just wrong
