- I just wanted to share a video on some of the mods and upgrades I did on my 93Z 71 Silverado I had previously did 1994 that I had done some of the same mods and it really improve the performance and gas mileage for these styles of trucks from 88 to 97 after giving my 1994 Silverado to my son for graduation I found this one over the summer for me and my youngest son to work on together If you have any questions on some of the modifications just drop me a comment hope you enjoy

Thanks, been meaning to post one last video. Replaced rear brakes and differential cover. Got frame and under bed sandblasted and rust coated and painted. She is all done! Just a new paint job in distance future. Time to find another
I have almost the same exact truck. But I have the old rally wheels with the center From like 79 on it. And my truck has a black interior outside's white. I have 32 niddle grapplers
i was gifted a 1993 2wd from my father in law. his engine blew a head gasket. So he and a buddy got a wrecked 1993 z71 and took everything off of it and put on the 2wd. straight body and simply amazing. if you have a insta or Fb i would love to send you some pictures. What is the purpose of adding a jet chip to your ecm? Really nice video. This is really helpful for my 93' GMC Sierra 5.7 I just got.
Adjust full/air mixture, shift points, overall performance.
On the tbi spacer does that make the truck wind up more rpms before shifting?? Both of the trucks are very sharp love seeing the 30 years old trucks being taking care of
The spacer gives better air/fuel mixture. The prom makes it shift at higher RMP when having to get on it. Mine goes to about 4000-4200 if getting on jt

Nice truck! You replaced a ton of parts - curious if all of that stuff needed to be replaced, or if you were just updating older, working parts?
I am guilty of sonetimes replacing old working parts for no reason other than to have new working parts that look better than the old working parts did... Also, it gives me a reason to hang out in the garage and drink a few cold beers.
Depends on what parts you are referencing. The Emission stuff, yeah, nice to start fresh with AC Delco, the EGR was bypassed and the O2 sensor and PVC valve was bad. With those and replacing the Spark Wires and Dist Cap with AC Delco, no idea issues, runs like a dream, I mean smooth man. The rest was upgrade TBI for a bit more performance with the TBI spacer, Open Air Filter, and Jet Chip. Valve covers was for looks. Just bought a 95 step side Z71 needs some tlc on the interior. The outside and motor are nice. Do want to do the lights single sliding window and the tailgate badge. I know you said in the video where you got alot of your parts from but can you give me some of your favorite places to get parts from great video love the truck
Especially the door handles/ door panels, glove box and dash info
LMHC truck for like original replacement parts like the Tailgate CHEVROLET, but most found lights and back glass on Amazon. Rick auto also good to get one ac delco parts for emission parts. LMC also now had a full dash oem part, not just the overlay
@@bryanrenfroe407can’t get original door panels, keep the stock ones and try to fix em or go to bone yard. I need to find grey ones to put back in my sons 93, the aftermarket one are horrible and cheap

Question, I thought about the new lens and LED headlight conversion for my diesel suburban. Are the new headlights made for the LED or did you just add LED bulbs to it ? I see many posts how an LED bulb needs a housing made for LED to throw the light correctly. How are they at night in all seriousness ? I will to the all 4 on high kit but wonder if I should get halogen or LED.
I just got the LED bulbs and they work really well if you look in the video I have the headlights at night they do really well with the four light relay. You can also check my other video that has a list of items I used
great video and truck. do you recommend doing tire changes, lifts, light fixture changes and other body or under hood changes before getting a truck painted? i’m looking to completely redo my dad’s truck which will be mine in future. he has a red 94 silverado and the paint is so faded, lots of body rust too. i think the paint should come last but i’m not sure if that could interfere with lights and stuff that still need to be changed. i wouldn’t want to scratch new paint lol.
Depends if doing full body , engine bay and frame or just exterior. They takeout and tape up windows and lights. Just not any trim. I had my 1994 red paint done, bottom was rhino lined after repaired cab corners that rusted out.
@@200235THSS2037 just exterior. i don’t think i’ll do the frame or engine bay. it has a lot of rust though so maybe that rhino line paint would be good in the engine bay and underneath, maybe the frame too. i just didn’t know if i should go ahead and replace lights before it’s painted or wait. also, what do you recommend for rust? removing it and protecting where it was so no more starts?
LMC truck sells a lot of the body panels so depending where your rust is I would have that replaced. corner of cabs always the where rust starts. They have cab corners extended cabs and for standard cab but they also have quarter panels etc. on my 1994 that’s what I did I bought the cab corner had my mechanic cut it out and replace and then rhino line below the trim. on my 93 rust isn’t bad but I did have them sandblast Rust prevent and under spray the bottom I have a video that shows that. As for lights they Are in the grill so they tape up the grill anyway that includes the lights
Only thing I removed for my paint job on the 94 was the bedliner toolbox the chrome trim that some have around the wheel wells and the door opening and takeoff any bug guards or window guards they will tape and paint around your Chevy lay band on the tailgate etc.
Another good site is Rock Auto.
Best thing to do is to get the stuff you want lights / external wise then remove all your old ones before sending it off to paint. Once it's done you can install the new housings and everything with new bolts and screws. As for frame just get it cleaned up and coated. Body shops can do it and it doesn't take long. Do not bed line over rust, bed liners is a notorious shit head for capturing moisture. There's proper under coatings for that.
After looking for a used replacement truck and seeing the prices that people want for them a few months ago, I decided to get a new 383 stroker to replace my original 350 in my 1997 GMC Sierra K1500. I’m thinking about replacing the stock spider injection system with an aftermarket multiport injection system or swap out for a carburetor, to get more power and torque for towing a small trailer. I’m also wanting to swap the grill and badges for chevy Silverado ones with led lights like your truck.
I was looking for truck with good exterior and interior with any miles on original engine cause I wanted to do the Sam, drop TBI 383 stroker in it. Maybe on the next one😁
Where did you get the air filter kit and where did you get the valve covers and where did you get the headers

Those valve covers work like oem? Been looking at one but I was told anything besides the factory black ones were prone to leaks. Thank you for your input if they hold up could I get a link? Building my first 5.7
Yes, purchased with gaskets no leaks, but have to swap oil fill side and use breather valve

what relay did you swap for the flashers? i have leds all around for every bulb and cant find a proper answer which ones I need to swap
Local Auto store. Just request turn signal flasher relay for LED.
Where did you find the aftermarket bed light? My 1993 light doesn’t work and it is very yellowed and the rubber is perished anyway

Did your throttle body spacer actually make a difference? Also did the one you purchase make that whistling sound, that is known to come from a throttle body spacer.
Yea noticeable difference with my set up, which was fuel pressure spring, dual exhaust with headers, TB spacer, open air filter and stage 1 performance chip. Since adjusted fuel/air intake and exhaust, the stage 1 chip improves take off, shifting and gas mileage, still averaged 11.5-12 mpg, with added 25 go. No noise or whistles at all. Also I only run AC Delco emissions and ignition parts. Run like a dream, no hesitation, no rough idle or cold start issue at all
I want that air filter can i just buy and set it on my tbi or do i have to buy something else to make it fit ?
You will need to remove the old air cleaner screw bolts. I think the air cleaner kit comes with bolts to replace them to secure tbi to manifold. Then use included center screw for cleaner top

What intake manifold, distributor and carb or throttle spacer is it using ?
has the Edelbrock intake, distributor is AC Delco, original carb, but I rebuilt it. And 3 inch throttle spacer.

Started with the Haynes books, but I have always owned Chevy and the truck/suv are same build wise. This is my 3rd OSB, so learned along the way. Next one hope to find good body and interior and drop in 383 stroker

35x12.5x20 are tires
Rough idle could be many emission items or bad plugs. Is check engine light on?

You can get it from Jeggs , LMC truck, Amazon, and I think you and your local auto parts store

I did not replace grill. But I know Amazon, Rick auto and LMCTruck has them

I did do fuel pump, open air filter, try to get ac Delco emissions parts, I did TBI spacer and Injector spacer, and then the stage 1 chip (prom)

How did you get the engine bay looking so clean, I have a 1990 and want to clean it up a bit.
There is great TH-cam video I found, first Dry clean with stiff brush and vacuum and rag, then a quick wet clean , cover distributer and then dressing, I like using 303 Protectant.

Does spacer add power and did you do a chip upgrade. Does you truck have a cam or is it stock.
Spacer changes the air fuel mixture and yes, I did use stage one chip as I also did true dual exhaust with headers And updated the fuel regulator

No, got small separate ones for each pipe, did true duel exhausts

I have the exact same truck only mines regular 4x4 but I bought it with an issue it takes very long to accelerate and occasionally pops like a back fire anyone have advice to fix?
The popping was very bad at first but I replaced the o2 sensor and it helped a whole lot now it occasionally pops and accelerates pretty slow mines a manual
These TBI are picky design. Start at cheapest and work up to rebuild kit for carb. Kit cheap but need to remove carburetor, at that time you can put in new fuel pressure spring. Backfiring is in the ignition, I only use AC Delco for ignition and all exhaust sensors (ie EGR,TPS, IAC PVC) Replace plugs wires and ignition cap and button with AC delco also. I have headers so can’t use stock plugs but if ya don’t get the AC Delco. O2 sensor affects fuel/air mixture but also make sure age of Cat Converter, those get clogged up and can cause the slow acceleration

@@omarherreros9867 maybe threw a rod. I would assess overall condition of engine if no work has been done and have 200k miles or more I would drop new crate engine in get em for $1500
@@200235THSS2037hey man I just found out about the egr valve the previous owners replaced the manifold with some high performance one and it doesn’t have a mount for the egr valve I was looking for a new one but the bolts bolting down the manifold are straight down which is odd and I can’t seem to find one where the bolts go straight down that have the egr do you know which one I need?

Don’t sell your truck. No matter what someone offers don’t sell it. I have a 91 c3500 454 and it’s the most reliable truck I’ve owned. My new ford and then Chevy all had lots of issues with transmissions sensors and engine defects. Rockauto and Amazon has all the parts you need for cheap
That is not an option. Love my other ObS and gave to son. This one I am keeping, need find another to resto with 12 year old son

Also I am not sure if you are into subwoofers and what have you but there's this low pro kicker box for around $350 USD I think. Fits in right behind the seat and has plenty of bass without messing up room and still leaving areas on the sides for tools.
