I know this challenge was a tear your hair out beast. But as a thrifter I LOVED that you used only thrifted items. That dress looks nicer than many of the costumes my friends go in.
I've been sewing since the '60s, and costuming since the '70s, and many thrifted curtains have been sacrificed along the way. Your gown turned out quite nicely.
Your comments are very funny 😂. When I think ' quick project ', 'Tudor dress ' is not the first option jumping to my mind 😅. What an amazing find at the thrift store! Perfect for your skin tone and beautiful dark hair ❣️
This project was more than challenge to say the least. I'm glad that you were able to finish it. Hope you learned from it. I have some that I came back to after a long while and finished. Others I just tossed out. I think that I have learned the most from these projects. Much of it being what not to do.
True, I also hate thinking about all the steps. I think you did great! The weird skills we learn we have that are useful in the most obscure circumstances is so real.
Just stumbled across your channel. Awesome video, you really like to make use of all the fun filter/editing options! I too have trouble with time estimates for projects at best they take 2x as long. But usually 4-10x longer than I estimated x,x
Hi! And thank you! I do like to make use of the options. If I don't mix it up I get SO bored. YES, time estimation is not strong with all, but we who are lacking in said skill make up for it in other strengths!
Just found your channel, and this is such a brilliant work, love the result so MUCH, wanna see more of it now! May the algorithm push your videos higher
Thank you! I love them too. I was almost sad about not making the red curtains into a formal, they were such a beautiful shade. I think I may have to make a red gown soon!
That was a beautiful video and dress! Doing it all thrifted is hard. It really depends on your area and the staff at your thrift stores. I know one of my thrift stores don't put out any craft stuff other than fabric and yarn. Fortunately the others do but you really have to have been collecting for a while to end up with all the notions you would need for this project. I think I will go watch your back log
Thank you so much!!! And yes! You are absolutely correct, I’ve been collecting here and there for many years. My local thrift store has a good craft section, I haven’t seen many craft supplies at other thrift stores. I feel VERY fortunate. 😊
😂😂😂 watching this while make the same dress from the same material. I used zip ties for my boning. I was using a bed spread in the same design and colors. I was able to eliminate numerous seams this way, making the making happen faster 🎉. I kept the piping already on the bed spread and the lining attached to it all together. Pro tip: if it can be cut and seamed together, it can be gathered for floofier results 🎉
Awesome!!! 🥳 Pausing and stepping away for a moment has been one of the biggest challenges, but also one of the biggest helps, to me. Socks! 🧦 That’s impressive! 😮 Socks sound challenging.
Oh how I relate to this and what you say about estimating time... while also trying to make a Tudor petticoat with bodice for the first time for an event this weekend... 😅 Really cool video and channel, you deserve more views!!
I enjoyed this video and had suggestion for what to use as boning for a thrifted challenge. The plastic strapping used to hold boxes on pallets is similar to boning and free.
Back when i was studying costume we had to do this all the time, most costumes had to be made with calico and/or thrifted fabric. We were alloewd to dye or paint the fabric, but the orginal fabric had to be second hand. Costumes made from curtains were pretty common.
I enjoy this video. I also have a lot of unfinished projects (2 I had cut out 24 years ago). I am trying to finish them when the mood strikes. It usually strikes late at night or when I have a work deadline due. Hahahaha
considering that most of these fabrics were wool, I wonder if Europe was really that much colder or if they really sweat rivers under their clothing and sucked it up.
"I find time very confusing" my friend, have you considered ADHD? Lol. Time blindness is a huuuuuge issue for me. ❤ Also this dress is AWESOME. :) I imagine fairly sweaty though lol 😅
@adifferentsortofduck i really love that you made it all out of thrifted materials, too. :) I love thrifting fabric! Just yesterday, I thrifted a beautiful deep red coverlet to make into an 18th century quilted petticoat. :)
Hah! 😄 I was sick and so congested I was having trouble breathing so I turned on the humidifier and closed myself in the bathroom and took a nap. It was successful 👍🏻

Thank you! Curtains are amazing!
You had me at the first 30 seconds. First you call me out, then you validate me. Yep, I'm hoooked! And I love that you used thrifted supplies.
I almost didn’t post this video, felt kinda vulnerable. I didn’t realize it could be validating to others. I’m so psyched that it was 😊
Your comments are very funny 😂.

What an amazing find at the thrift store!
Perfect for your skin tone and beautiful dark hair ❣️
Thank you 😊 For sure, a Tudor dress is not a quick project…
unless one is delulu 😁🙃
That dress/entire outfit is a work of art!
Thank you so much!!! 😊💛

I have some that I came back to after a long while and finished. Others I just tossed out. I think that I have learned the most from these projects. Much of it being what not to do.
Thank you! Learning what not to do is definitely important to figure out.
Woah, great job on the dress, I admire your perseverance!
Thank you!!!
True, I also hate thinking about all the steps. I think you did great! The weird skills we learn we have that are useful in the most obscure circumstances is so real.
Thanks! And I agree, weird skills can come in handy 😊
"Why am I like this is" my mantra.
We need to make T-shirts 😁
I think this is your best video yet!
Turned out beautifully!
Now I'm going to go resurrect a boched project. Lol
Thank you so much!!! Yes! Resurrect it! It's alive!
Great job lady! Thanks for taking thru your journey🎉❤
Thank you! It definitely was a journey 🙃
It’s fantastic. I also appreciate the sustainable challenge you gave yourself. Awesome job.
Thanks so much!

It hasn't even been a minute and I already stan :D
I think this is the best compliment I’ve ever received 🥰 TY!!!
And the dress is looking amazing too.
Thank you!

I think that your dress turned out beautifully. It looks very rich with the colours chosen.
Thank you 😊 I really like the colors too! It was amazing to find all of those pieces that went together so well 🤯😊
Love the colours! It turned out very pretty
Thank you! I love them too. I was almost sad about not making the red curtains into a formal, they were such a beautiful shade. I think I may have to make a red gown soon!
No no no don't set it aside...you can do it!!

That's awesome! 🤩
You inspire me!!!!😂
Thank you! ☺
I finished socks today! I started them almost 4 years ago. I'm glad I had the pauses in making, and something I can pick up and continue.
Awesome!!! 🥳 Pausing and stepping away for a moment has been one of the biggest challenges, but also one of the biggest helps, to me.

This weekend! Plenty of time 😁 You go! And thank you so much 😊
This is my first time watching and you are doing great
Thank you so much!!!
Wow! So creative. I am super impressed with your skills and love the self-awareness and honesty. ❤
Thank you 😊 It’s taken a long time to get here. Lots of self examination has happened in the last few years. It’s rough, but I think it’s worth it 😌💛
I have several thrifted tablecloths earmarked for projects, it’s such a good deal!
Nice! 😊
Love this, It turned out so nice and you bring such a positive presence to your channel. I am so glad I found this.
Thank you so much! 😊
This is so beautiful! Great job and thank you for sharing the process
Thank you so much! 😊
This is AMAZING. 🎉🎉 girl you crushed it
Awww ☺️ Thank you!

Ooooo 😯 Excellent idea!

Cool! Yep, curtains are an excellent fabric source 😊
I enjoy this video. I also have a lot of unfinished projects (2 I had cut out 24 years ago). I am trying to finish them when the mood strikes. It usually strikes late at night or when I have a work deadline due. Hahahaha
But of course! When a deadline approaches the creative motivation arises! 😁🙃
Well done. Very well done
@@KyraDAVIS-jw6fi Thank you 😊
Welcome.
😂 i make things out of tablecloths, bedsheets, curtains all found at thrift stores 😅
That is awesome! 😎
Incredible!!
Thank you!!! 😊🧡
You need loads more subs!
Awe ☺️ Thank you so much!
considering that most of these fabrics were wool, I wonder if Europe was really that much colder or if they really sweat rivers under their clothing and sucked it up.
I've wondered the same.

Hee hee 😏 Perhaps 😉❤️ Thank you! Yes indeed, SO sweaty 🥵

@adifferentsortofduck I hope so! I have big plans lol. Now to make my stays... lol
Sleeping *in* the bathtub?! Do tell!
Hah! 😄 I was sick and so congested I was having trouble breathing so I turned on the humidifier and closed myself in the bathroom and took a nap. It was successful 👍🏻
I haveb*got* to find better thrift stores.
I really lucked out with my local one. It is hit and miss, but sometimes I can find some amazing things.
