Thanks so much for watching, Michelle! We didn't see nearly enough in the time we had there (between rainy weather and the earthquake). There are so many nearby small towns that we'd like to visit next time we go. -Judy
Just rewatched this video in preparation for our visit to Taiwan tomorrow. Thanks for the tips, costs and your opinions on the great places to visit while we are there. About to watch the night market video also. Thanks Kevin and Judy! Cheers Annette and Pete
Thank you so much for your kind words, Annette! We hope you and Pete have a great time in Taiwan. If you're able to take some day trips while you're there, we think they would be worthwhile. It's a small regret that we weren't able to do any this time around. We'd love to hear your thoughts afterwards! -Judy
Thank God for the Taipei Metro system. It makes traveling around the city a breeze and it's an absolutely world-class system in every way. I also appreciate the easy availability of pre-cooked meals for sale in convenience stores, microwaved by the efficient store staff for those who need a balanced meal without spending time in a restaurant.
Hi Ben, yes, we agree about the food in the local convenience stores. We did have to make sure we told the clerk that we didn't want our food heated because sometimes we were buying something at night for breakfast or some other point. Our Airbnb had a microwave, but of course that isn't always the case. And we absolutely LOVE a good transit system. We love that about Taipei, and regret that we didn't have more time/better weather to do some of the side trips that we wanted to do. We have an episode coming out this Saturday from our experience at the night markets that we hope you'll also enjoy! -Judy
We hope you have an amazing time in Taipei. If you're able to take a day trip, we don't think you'll be disappointed in that, either! We'd love to hear what you end up doing and what you thought about it when you return! -Judy
Currently in Taiwan for work and I can’t believe I finished the whole vid, very informative, the subtle sense of humor, and the video content/pace was perfect, now onto all the places you recommended.

I spent four days in Taipei in mid-March and thoroughly enjoyed it as it was a layover stop on my way back from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I missed the earthquake by just over two weeks, and am glad that the apparent damage in the city was minimal. Nice footage and commentary on this city. It was fun to see many of the same places I'd visited as well. I found the people to be quite friendly, and it is not overrun by Westerners and Americans as so many places are. In fact, I could walk for several hours on busy streets and not see a fellow Westerner. I would definitely go back again, and next time would try to get out of Taipei to explore more of the country if possible.
Thanks so much for watching, John! We agree with absolutely everything you said. The earthquake foiled our plans for a visit to Hualien and Taroko Gorge, and the rain derailed the other side trips we wanted. Because of the great transportation system, there's really no reason to not explore more outside of Taipei. We definitely would like to go back and cover some fresh ground outside of Taipei proper. This Saturday we bring you to the night markets! Curious what you thought about HCMC. We have a few episodes from there as well. -Judy 🎥 Vietnam video series: th-cam.com/play/PLNT98lWfwdF0w1OZR1ZwgqGRPRMKXZaNB.html
One very fun thing to do in Taipei (and in all of the major cities in Taiwan) is to explore the alleyways. Taiwan is very safe in terms of security, so alleyway exploring is recommended for anyone who seeks a little bit of adventure or surprise.
We agree! Some of the best places to eat in any country are in the alleyways. We weren't concerned for our safety, but we weren't sure if we'd be welcome since it sometimes can feel like locals want to keep some places from being overly touristed. But the places we visited were very welcoming, and we highly recommend them! Thank you so much for watching! This Saturday we'll be sharing our experiences from the night markets! -Judy
Thanks so much for watching, Reed! We want to come back and explore more of the smaller cities and towns. There is so much beauty in Taiwan. Did you catch our video from the night markets? Great video guys! Looking forward to our Taipei visit later in the year. We’re actually in Turin, Italy right now which we booked after your recommendations and loving it! Been here 8 nights and heading to Genoa the day after tomorrow.
Thank you so much for this update, Annette, and for watching! We truly enjoyed both Genoa and Turin, so we hope your next stop is equally satisfying. We'll be releasing our video later this evening (Saturday) from three of the night markets in Taipei. We hope both of these episodes will be helpful for your upcoming trip! We wished we had better weather to have explored a few more cities accessible to Taipei, but that's a reason to visit again! -Judy

Really happy to have you guys in Taipei Taiwan(I am from Taipei btw). As far as I know…I am 34now,I’ve never seen tsunami in Taipei ever. I believe the ups and downs in front of the Taipei main station is all because the suddenly heavy rain in summer, cased flooding on the road .
You could be right. When we researched it, they specifically said tsunamis, but I can appreciate that those are scarce and flooding is way more common. Glad you enjoyed Taiwan. Been living in New Taipei for almost 2 years after 6 years in China and 2 in Korea. The food here even in just little random crappy looking street stores is just amazing. Never ate so well in my life and also food saftey is good (Cough* China where every meal is a dance with gutter oil). Friendly people, most people speak decent English so its easy for tourists but a little mandarin goes a long way (mine is semi fluent but my reading is awful). The Chinese culture is also real Chinese culture that survived unlike the mainland where Mao destroyed it all. Absolutely love Taipei and hope people will see this and want to visit. Also you feel like something is happening all the time and its got a grimey, gritty feel unlike more polished places like Japan (which I also love).
We're glad to hear your perspective on Taipei and some of your background. We spent a month in Busan and really enjoyed it (and a weekend in Seoul, which we really enjoyed so much more than we thought we might. At least where we stayed and explored, it had a smaller city feel than what I expected, which was NYC on steroids). We found that people in Taipei really appreciated when we made even a slight amount of effort to speak to them in Chinese. We realized too late about its interesting eco system and wish we'd been able to explore more. It's one reason we're glad to be full-time travelers and can easily return. We also enjoyed Japan tremendously, but sometimes it felt a little too perfect, so we can appreciate your point about the attraction of someplace being a little gritty. -Judy 🎥 South Korea Travel Series: th-cam.com/play/PLNT98lWfwdF0f9CUrzAmPwQ8yzyJBHan7.html 🎥 Japan Travel Series: th-cam.com/play/PLNT98lWfwdF0V4Brx4J0uWJdQENFZKWBT.html

WOW - amazing! A big surprise! ♥
Yes, it was a good trip! We have more we would have liked to see, so we have Taiwan on our list of places to explore more if we can! Next week we are really eexcited to bring you the energy and FOOD of the night markets! -Judy

A very enjoyable video! It was lovely to see some of the people you meet during your travels. Thanks for sharing, it makes me happy seeing you two enjoying yourselves.
❤Zeljka
Hi Zeljka! Thank you so much for watching. We had such a good time in Taipei, and even the earthquake couldn't spoil it. We would like to return and explore more of the small towns. But we think you'll enjoy our episode this Saturday from the Taipei night markets! -Judy
i love you guys! Keep up the great vids!
Thank you so much, Jade! We had a fun time in Taipei. We wish we would have been able to go on a few day trips outside the city as well. Taiwan is an interesting country. We didn't realize how many unique features it has until we were almost ready to leave. -Judy

This is great! I love a coffee shop you can work from so I'm excited to explore some of them!
Louisa Coffee is probably one of the biggest local chains, but we were really happy with how friendly the people were in Dreamers Coffee. We tried Helen Coffee, which was elegant, but very expensive. What was a little hard was finding a coffee shop that also had good food because we liked going to one for breakfast and coffee. We think you will love it. Stay tuned to our episode this Saturday that will rank and share our experiences at the night markets! -Judy
@@FindingGinaMarie I ended up at least trying Dreamers coffee which I wish I got to have more of! Glad you mentioned it.
@@BrianaisGoingPlaces Thanks so much for the update! I hope you had a great time in Thailand! Did you happen to see our latest video from the Night Markets? We're curious which one you preferred if you visited any of them! -Judy

@@FindingGinaMarie I'll def check it out!
good lady, your chopsticks upside down🤪
Good eye! I realized it immediately after we had recorded. But apparently both sides can work in a pinch. And what's great is that it's easy enough to flip around. Thanks for watching. -Judy
I WAS THERE IN 1969 FROM DANANG VIETNAM
It's an interesting country and we are very glad we got to experience it. I'm sure it was remarkably different in 1969. -Judy
So good 👍👍👍
Thank you so much for your kind words. We have an episode coming out this Saturday from a few of the night markets that we're excited to share, too!
We'd like to return and explore more of the neighboring cities. Between derailed plans from rain and the earthquake, we couldn't make it work this time around. -Judy
welcome !
Thank you so much for watching! We're looking forward to bringing you with us on our night market tours next week! -Judy
loving your videos and wishing you lots of success. In the beginning when you said they have the stair blockers due to tsunamis, I believe you meant to say cyclones
We actually meant monsoons and tsunamis, but you're right that cyclones are also an issue. Rough terrain in Taiwan! -Judy
Wow I assume this was filmed before the big quakes they’re having? They obviously are experienced in that area, but it’s been pretty concocting recently. Be safe.
Yep, we experienced them. Fortunately, Taipei wasn't hit nearly as hard as Hualien and Taroko Gorge, which is closed until further notice. A little bit of a killjoy for some of the things we wanted to do, but it was interesting to have experienced a 7.X earthquake. We're from San Francisco, so we're familiar with earthquakes, but we never expected to experience one while traveling! We put together an entire video talking about natural disaster preparedness and also put together a free downloadable resource so you can do your own planning. -Judy

Thank you so much for watching! This Saturday we'll be sharing our experience from the night markets! -Judy
Greetings from Shanghai. I hope one day you will visit mainland China and Hong Kong. Probably need to plan for a longer trip since there's so much to see and do!
We had explored the idea of visiting Hong Kong during this last trip, but it is a very expensive city for a month. Thank you for the suggestions! -Judy
XI WILL PROBABLY TAKE ALL THIS APART. I HOPE NOT THOUGH. I HAVE BEEN THERE.
Taiwan has our support. We would love to visit again and explore more, especially of its natural beauty. -Judy

🇹🇼🇹🇼 Taiwan
We had a great time in Taipei. We'd like to return and explore more of the natural wonders of Taiwan. Thanks so much for watching. -Judy
Air BnB? Illegal in Taiwan, how did you book that?
We stayed for a full month, which as I understand it has different guidelines than what are considered short stays. When regulations change in a country, Airbnb reaches out to the hosts on the platform to ensure they are in compliance and if not, they are removed. -Judy

Thanks for watching, Michael. We have a few other videos from Taipei if you're interested, including a night market tour! There's a lot to see in Taipei and we'd like to return and experience a few more day trips. -Judy
