Hi Chris. Great info on Taipei. I believe that Taipei is an underrated tourist destination. You can enjoy the historical and cultural areas. in the West and the modern parts in the East. An amazing place to visit for sure. Take care.
Hi Chris, as an Australian born to Taiwanese parents, I applaud you for educating a lot of the mainstream world about Taiwan and Taipei. Great tips and tricks for a first time traveller who may be lost and confused with the complexity of Taiwan. Your chinese pronouncation is very good! I appreciate the brief albeit thorough introduction about transportation. Transportation is one of the most convenient parts of Taipei, which I miss living back home is AUS. Many people hear the drama between Taiwan and China, but don't know the marvel of the city. Thank you again Chris!
I have been to Taiwan several times. My wife is Taiwanese. This is by far the most comprehensive Taiwan/Taipei video I have seen. Hits all the highlights and really does a great job explaining things for a first time traveler. Well done. 😀
Great video and I like the way you introduced Taipei to make it very easy for those who have never been there to grasp the uniqueness and learn how to best navigate it. The spots you videoed are the exact spots I would go to every time I go home to visit my beloved hometown Taipei. As someone who was born and raised there and left almost 30 years ago to move to the U.S., I truly appreciate this video and have shared it with other Americans who are also interested in visiting Taiwan for vacation! Keep up the great work!
I wish more people points out the low crime rate, the friendly locals, and no one gets shot or robbed in any of the croweded night markets. That alone is something you can't find in any of the States' busy celebrations
This guide is perfect thank you. My wife and I chose our flights to Japan next year specificly due to a layover in Taiwan for 18 hours. After watching your video we may need to change our departing flight so we can have more time in Taiwan.
I’ve had so many people tell me there’s nothing to do in Taipei and that I need to get outside the city. They say the same about Bangkok (where I live) too, so I take it with a grain of salt. Great to hear from someone who loves the city.
I used to live in Taipei. One of the hiking places I’ve been to is the tienmu trail. It’s a nice trail and I’d recommend that you go there some time in the future.
I was just in Taipei for four days as a stopover from a weeklong trip to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on my way back to Chicago. I really enjoyed the city and would be more than happy to go there again. Very interesting. Totally different from Saigon, of course, and kind of like I remember Tokyo from the early '90s when I was there twice, with a little bit of NYC even thrown in. I've not been to most of the other big Asian cities like Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, Seoul or Shanghai -- but your point that Taipei is well taken that it is definitely worth visiting if you have a chance. That said, I only missed the earthquake by less than three weeks...and admittedly was not in Hualien where it hit so hard. Thanks for your videos on Taipei. I watched a couple of them before going there, but honestly just found myself walking and wandering everywhere I could to explore. Plus, I'm an avid tennis player and spent a couple of afternoons scoping out places to pick up a game -- and found the Taiwanese players really open and welcoming to let me join in with them. (It doesn't hurt that I'm an accomplished player, so I'm able to step in with just about any level and get a good game.)
Thank you for the video, it’s really helpful. My son is going on a school trip to Taiwan in a few weeks, you’ve covered most of what we’ve been told and it’s just nice to see where they’re going.
4:09 The person walking behind you waved at your camera, lol. The hospitality in Taiwan is beyond my expectation, in most big cities, people are less friendly, but it was not the case in Taiwan, they're generally want to help you. I've been there 4 months ago, and I wish to go again this year, the food, the people, it's the nicest place to visit on a budget. I rented a car, driving in rural Taiwan is really fun but not so in Taipei, people drive like maniac, lol, but well, compare to Thailand, it's maybe is less challenging, Thai traffic is much more chaotic but slower, while Taipei traffic is pretty organized chaos, everyone move so fast it's scary.
I get so much excitement seeing your travel guides. You were the one who convinced me to travel to tokyo before and Taipei as well. Makes me want to go back! I would highly recommend Taroko National Park as a day trip from Taipei.
As someone who currently lives in Taiwan, I would like to add to you. if you want to go to Shilin Night Market, you should get off at Jiantan(劍譚)Station, not Shilin, because that's further away.
Great video! Three notes: (1) For the Shilin night market, don't go to Shilin MRT station, as the closest station is actually Jiantan station, one station south of Shilin station. (2) I'd actually recommend staying at a hotel that's near a station on the Red MRT line (not the Blue). It will take you to more tourist attractions. The area south of Main Station has a lot of hotels, but isn't very attractive. North of the station around Zhongshan station is a nice area, or around Dongmen, Da'an Park, or Da'an station. (3) I'd definitely recommend using those YouBikes, even in the city. Biking is pretty safe, especially since you can ride on the sidewalks (pedestrians have right of way though, so pay attention). Biking through Taipei is great, especially if get off the big streets and onto the smaller ones.
I'm glad to see that you can go up to an observation deck at the top of Taipei 101 even though there's a fee which is understandable. From all the food to the neat sites, I'm sure I would really enjoy Taipei!
very detailed. 👍i want to add though that if tourists use Google translate, choose Traditional Chinese. some Taiwanese can't read the simplified one. ☺
I really enjoyed your video. It's organic not forced and interesting. Ive seen a lot of Taiwan travel clips but yours is the most comprehensive and interesting. Thanks a lot.
You should have tried the You-Bike. Riding a bike is very safe and easy in Taipei, I do it every time I visit there, citys like Toronto are much more dangerous for a biker.
Thanks for this video, I just came back from Taiwan couple days ago .... wish I had seen your video before my visit - would have really helped. Thanks Anyway, it brought back good memories
GREAT Video, lots of information in a brief time, Lovin'it - ThnXs a lot !!! Now I'm looking forward to my first Taiwan visit end of February 2024 😊 and visit the Taiwan Cycle Show in Nangang 😊
❤ your daughter!! She is so adorable 🥰 and you are so good and patient with her!! I am really happy to see your videos!! Especially on Taiwan 🇹🇼 I am going to bring my adult sons next May to Taiwan 🇹🇼 for the first time for them !! I am really excited about that !! 😊
Hello! Thank you SO SO MUCH for this well-detailed and explained video! I will be visiting Taipei fpr the first time very soon and I feel this video really helped me out! THANK YOU!!
Thank Chris. Definitely some great tips there. I am starting to research for when we go next year. We have a couple of days before we board our cruise. Will need to take some notes. 😊
Hi Chris, this is my first time to hit your channel and here is your new subscriber~ I enjoyed this Taiwan's video a lot, thank you for all the tips as we're going to Taipei in October! Enjoy your trip 😄🌍
Thanks for providing helpful advice for Taipei. I really loved your Tokyo videos from before, so it's nice to see you covered another city I plan to visit.
Thanks for the useful tips. Going there and Thailand in October. I was born there but have not visited Taipei in over 20+ years. BTW cute kid in your video.
This channel is a very decent and informative one for the travellers to get clear information to it. Browsing quire a few other videos, i was like panic to jump into the busy and crowded world. But afrer i found yours i decided to go there with confidence✌️
Looking forward to my first visit to Taipei in mid-March '24 & this video is very informative. I'll be sure to check out your others as well. I'll have almost 4 full days to explore.
Chris first, great video and thank you for all the 411. Very helpful..My question to you is my daughter and I will be a cruise in a couple of weeks out of Japan that will stop in Tapei for at least a day or two (Mother nature has recently spoken...) but my question is what would you recommend with such a short time to visit ( 9 ish- 4:30 pm) National museum/Tapei 101for sure as education/learning for my daughter but I also wanted to shop (Electronics, jewlery and clothes). Are the areas of interests I mentioned doable in that short amount of time? Your thoughts please and thank you!😊 P.S. where would be a good place recommended for currency exchange there in Tapei? Thanks again!
Recommending anyone to come to Taipei in winter is preposterous. Constant rains that can last for days and the weather so cold (no insulation in the buildings!) that you will need to wash your hand in a hot water every 2-3 hours to keep your fingers moving. High humidity is what helps you survive the summer weather, not a con.

Taiwan and Taipei are great. My wife is from there so we get to visit a lot of nice places.
I love Taiwan! It’s safe, people are so nice and the food is delicious!
well won't be safe for long when (not if) china decides to invade.
Great place
Agree to that😊
Went to Taipei alone back in 2019 and what I love about it are the narrow back streets where you might to discover something.
Definitely!
Who needs Expedia when you have Chris for your travel guides!!
Awww
i do, i need to book plane tickets.
Hi Chris. Great info on Taipei. I believe that Taipei is an underrated tourist destination. You can enjoy the historical and cultural areas. in the West and the modern parts in the East. An amazing place to visit for sure. Take care.
Taipei is definitely under rated!

Taiwan is an amazing country, so much to see & do, my favorites are Taroko Gorge & Alishan mountain 👍👍👍

Yeah. There's lot to do in Taipei!
It’s very friendly of you to explain about English speaking in Taiwan! You are so considerate😊
Taipei is an amazing destination. You can spend days exploring, and the food is indeed delicious. Note that you can make many great day trips as well!
Yes, Dont go to Japan, just come to Taiwan !!!!
I’ve had so many people tell me there’s nothing to do in Taipei and that I need to get outside the city. They say the same about Bangkok (where I live) too, so I take it with a grain of salt. Great to hear from someone who loves the city.
i was about to remove taipei from my itinerary, glad i came across with this video, thanks a lot
Taiwan food is my favourite while for my struggling to find food in japan, i can find food easily in the bight markets in Taipei
I used to live in Taipei. One of the hiking places I’ve been to is the tienmu trail. It’s a nice trail and I’d recommend that you go there some time in the future.
Taiwan Number 1 👆🏻

If you are going to Shilin (Shi Lin 士林)Night Market, get off the train at Jiantan (Jian Tan 劍潭)Station, not Shilin Station.
Thanks for the tip
I wouldn’t suggest ShinLin night market since it’s too tourist. Ning Sha night market is the best for food choice.
Good video! How many days do we need if visiting Taipei?
I think 5 days is good for your first trip
