This is the best video out for making loops in AUM. But one thing that isn't mentioned is to make sure your loops have the same number of beats. Because I was using an imported drum loop there was 3 too many beats in that loop. Maybe that was because it was created at a different BPM. I don't know how it happened but it did. No matter how many times I recorded the loop it just didn't sync up even with the sync button pressed. After you load your file look down in that dialog box and you will see a setting for number of beats in measure; make sure they match. Then it synced perfectly.
Yes, those numbers should match. 😀 👊 If you follow my method shown here exactly when making your loop(s), you should't have to change anything when you import the loop(s). Also, If AUM is reading an *off* number of beats in your loop/sample, chances are that it is not properly rendered or trimmed to be a perfectly seamless loop.
@@ElectronisoundsAudio I definitely can see that in your lesson. I didn't record this particular drum loop; it was an imported loop. The original tempo of the loop was 90.1 BPM and I was recording in 110. I am guessing that this is why there was 11 beats in that loop. When I changed the number to 8 beats per measure the loop seemed to play a little faster and everything synced. As you know from the questions I have been asking that I am getting serious about making music and not just "chasing shiny objects" by taking a cursory glance at many different apps. I am just so Grateful that the developer at Kymatica put this feature in there. What a great app! #kymatica

That's really handy to know. I've been using AUM a lot recently with my little Novation Launch Control to jam some long evolving ambient stuff with my soundbanks in Mitosynth, Sunrizer and FM Player 2 being driven by Rozeta Particles. I also had a couple of Ruismaker Noirs and a couple of SynthMaster Players in there too being driven by Atom, oh, and an instance of FieldScaper, a few instances of 4Pockets Multitap Delay, and of course a few instances of the now obligatory Blackhole Reverb! Even though I'm on an iPad Pro from 2016, and with a higher latency setting in AUM, I think I had just about reached the loading limit before the crackles and pops started. So it would be more efficient to grab a couple of audio loops of the drums and bass parts and replace the Noirs and SynthMaster Players (along with their associated midi drivers) with those parts from the simple file player. The difference is that making an audio loop means you can't do further tweaking of the sound, short of adding additional effects. The method you're showing also solves a problem I can't find a solution to: how to get sequenced instruments to launch at the top of the pattern, right on the downbeat. I’d like to add that an excellent pairing to this process is Audio Evolution Mobile as it has excellent beat/measure snapping to allow you to combine/edit etc loops from AUM seemlessly. Often the process you describe doesn’t result in seamless start stop, but by doing some copy/paste in AE, you can make just about any loop seamless
Thanks Dean, this is great to know. Can’t wait to fire up AUM tomorrow and try it out! Right now I’m working with Volca sessions. It’ll be great to capture some of the grooves as loops that I can export/chop/use however I want.

Thanks, really brilliant. Started with AUM last week, it has replaced my entire guitar rig using Bias amp2 and Bias effects 2 (bye bye analogue 😥). I don’t see a usb connect from Novation, are you using Bluetooth?

Hey Hey, Scott! I actually have a video on how I use downfilter samples in AUM: th-cam.com/video/KvrVbgy4_GI/w-d-xo.html A send is reverb, B send is delay - you can *customize* a TON of sends/returns in AUM. Yes, i'm using a master channel. 😀 👊
Finally, someone who's overall "geekery" I can genuinely relate to! Ha! Recently stumbled across an old iPad4 and late 2008 iMac that I want to make noise with. Mostly for acoustic live looping and such. My main workstation is an i7 PC running Reaper. AUM and Quantiloop look like winners to me for the iPad. I've currently got an Orange Omec pedal interface, and MelloAudio MidiCommander foot controller. Wanting something I can busk/open mic night with using my Boss Katana 50. Consider me Liked and Subscribed!
THANK YOU! 😀 👊 This sort of thing happens to me *all the time* - lol I mostly just use the iPad for music, so a *lot* of the basic functions of how to use it I never really learned. DOH!! 😏
Awesome! I’m fairly new at music production and you just answered a question I had as to how to make my own loops for Launchpad! Thank you and well done. It also gives me encourage to to see you make and fix mistakes!
Hi, is it possible to route AUM with IOS video on the IPad Pro rather than the default mic it’s for a DJ set ‘video iPad, Audio DJ mixer? I tried the method of simply connecting the usb cable from the DJ mixer to the iPad which works but the iPad must be choosing the wrong channel as there’s no eq changes or effects present on the recording.
Sorry, I do not fully understand the question. AUM with *video*? 👊 However, the DJ mixer's fx not being recorded is a thing with the mixer itself, not iPad. Read the mixer's manual - it likely does not send the fx over USB audio, a lot mixers work that way - it's FRUSTRATING. I have 2 mixers that do not send the eq or fx over usb audio. My Allen and Heath Xone:DB2 is that way - no eq or FX over usb audio.....
@@ElectronisoundsAudio Thank you so much, so it might not be just my stupidity that’s causing these issues, I’am actually glad to hear in a away as it was more stressful to me wondering what I’ve done wrong compared to the actual issue it self.
@@ElectronisoundsAudio Video, sorry I didn’t explain throughly, I meant the IPads video Want to record a DJ set with the iPads camera but with external audio from my mixer. Not the iPads Mic,
@@ElectronisoundsAudio also sorry I just thought of something, if effects eq ain’t transferred via usb why are they present when I make a audio recording with Aum?
@@DjPaulSavage Better wording now - gotcha. AUM is not needed for this. You need to run a *CLASS COMPLIANT* audio interface into the iPad - plug your DJ gear into it with regular audio cables, not usb. Use the iPad to go live to whatever you want. DONE. The iPad is the camera - the Audio interface is the audio. 2-channel STEREO audio only - NOT multi-channel audio.
I just saw this video, it's great, thanks! but How do you bounce the whole project into a stereo loop?, like if you have several tracks on AUM and just want to record the "master" bus?? Is there a way to create a "master" bus like in a typical audio mixer?... Hope you can still reply even if it's an old video, cheers!
Hey Hey! Sure, you can create all kinds of busses and custom routing inside of AUM, when you click to insert an instrument, choose "MIX BUS" instead. Now, you can click on icon at the bottom the tracks you want to send to that bus and route it there. Hope that helps! 😀 👊

It's a fun way to live jam and record it this way. I do this to figure out how I want to structure a song in a daw by experimenting this way. The only thing that drives me nuts is not being able to save a midi controller in AUM.. 😵
Yeah, having to assign the controller each time is a bit of a pain, but at least it remembers all my controller's knob routing assignments no problem! 😀 👊
@@user-uh7ll1kn2q Yes - of course you have to save it in a session - the routing is all based on each specific session. 😀 👊 Each session will be different - and require it's own routing. You can set up (and SAVE) a general *TEMPLATE* with your basic go-to starting and routing /set up - then load that each time you want to make something, and immediately save it under a new name to keep your *TEMPLATE* intact. The routing in AUM is always based on the specific session - every session can have it's own setup and custom routing. 😀 👊

Was thinking of using beat maker 3 like the launchpad app however not only would I like to play scenes I would like to use the pad to play the clips like Launchpad Not sure if it’s possible
Currently, the clips inside the scenes are not launchable from a midi controller. You have to set up the scenes you want, and then launch the scenes as a whole scene. (I hope that makes sense... lol) I believe you can launch the clips in side the scenes *manually* with your finger though! 😁
The ability to combine the loops you've made and use them *with* some AUv3 synths and drum machines in real-time is pretty sweet!! (A lot of creative potential here! YAY!) 😀 👊
@@issiewizzie YES! The Novation Launch Control XL pairs really well with AUM! Although - *ANY* midi controller that is "class-compliant" will work, so you can choose any that suit *your specific needs* for amount of faders, buttons and knobs! 👍

THANKS for that tip, Bro!! Excellent! 😁🙏👊
Good shit bro.you are an inspiration
💙💙 Hey Hey! Thanks very much, Bro! 😁🙏👊
Thanks Dean, this is great to know. Can’t wait to fire up AUM tomorrow and try it out! Right now I’m working with Volca sessions. It’ll be great to capture some of the grooves as loops that I can export/chop/use however I want.
Thanks for watching, Loren! 😁🙏👊
Awesome! I can’t believe I didn’t know how to do this... thanks for bringing this to my attention Dean! Thanks to the Audio Dabbler as well! I forgot about that guy, I need to subscribe.
Yeah, this one takes things to a whole 'nother level in AUM! WOOT! Thanks for watching! 😀 👊
Thanks Dean. Super useful. Cheers. Lee
Hey Hey! Thanks for watching! 😀 👊
Great tutorial, thanks!
Hey Hey, Michael! Thanks for watching! 😁🙏👊
So that's how its done. Thanks Dean and Mitch for this cool tip.🙏✔
❤️ Mitch is a special kind of genius! 😁
His amazing video slipped past my radar, and I wanted to make sure that as many people as possible learn how to use this amazing technique!
You can use the loops you make this way inside of *ANY* other sample-loading app on iOS! WOOOOOT! 😲 👍👍👍👍
Thanks, really brilliant. Started with AUM last week, it has replaced my entire guitar rig using Bias amp2 and Bias effects 2 (bye bye analogue 😥). I don’t see a usb connect from Novation, are you using Bluetooth?
Hey Hey!
No bluetooth audio - too much latency for music production.
Have to use a wired connection for sure. I use the Novation Audiohub 2x4, but **any** class compliant audio interface will work.
Here's a video I made a while back on using audio interfaces with iPads if you have any questions: th-cam.com/video/Q1l0hFeH26I/w-d-xo.html
Love this not ready to use AUM yet but video saved bro Peace
EPIC! This one really takes using AUM to a whole new level of awesome! WOOT! 😁👊
I’ve got a similar workflow to yours and this just helped me a lot, thanks 👍🏻
Sweet! Thanks for watching! 😁👊
As Always & Ever, what an education! Thanks Man I know I am going to use this a lot. Great way to make loops to import in to other places. I am Grateful for the help. Saving this vid for sure!
Thanks for watching, Slim! Yeah, this is the little piece of "how-to" gold i've been waiting for inside of AUM! 😀 👊
This really opens things up in the iOS music making world imho - I tried it with recording external audio into AUM today to make into loops - it works great as well! 💙
More videos exploring this are on the way!
I agree 100%! Seems like an excellent way to make clips and loops. They can easily be made separate by instrument and dropped into Launchpad like you said. Or Ableton for that matter. My goal is to make a bunch of scenes & record my bass live into it. To see if I am as boring as I sound to me. Which was my goal when I started this epic journey.

Awesome stuff, love this app, been using for live performances but this is next level, so many options. thanks
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching! 😁🙏👊
Another great video, Dean!
Hey Hey! Thanks for watching, bro! 😀 👊
Sync (I caught that early 😂 but had to see it thru.). Great job, thanks for sharing. AUM is looking really useful these days.
Thanks for watching! 😀 👊
Yeah, some great stuff happening with AUM - the multi-out addition recently is certainly a game-changer, too! 💙
Thanks Dean and Mitch, greats tip there.
Thanks for watching, Grant! 😀 👊
I am really excited about the sonic potential in this! WOOT!
Awesome. Cool tricks. Thank you.
Hey Hey! Thanks very much! 😀 👊
ooohhh mannnn... superb video!
Hey Hey! Thanks for watching! I hope this helps you on your musical journey!! 😁👊
Awesome video brother!
Thank you very much! 😀 👊
OMG!!!! I couldnt mash that like button quick enough!!! This is amazing man
Thanks for watching, Bro! This is a GAME CHANGER for making "seamless loops" on an iPad! YAY!! (one more - YAY!!) 😀😀😀😀
Electronisounds Audio 100% awesome!
Electronisounds Audio would this work with any audio brought into AUM? So for example if I could get vocals in there, I could record perfect loops of them too?
@@PoyntToo Pip to the Pop, Buddy! Absolutely - YES!!!!!!! I am planning to do a detailed video on how to record perfect, seamless loops from your hardware gear (or *any external gear*) into AUM next!! 👏👏👏
Electronisounds Audio wow! The potential is endless!!
This video changed my life and helped me with understanding the POWER of AUM ! Thanks Dean !
YAY!! Stoked to help! 😁🙏👊
Good stuff, Dean👍
Thanks for stopping by, Kevin! 😀 👊
thanks brother - much appreciated
😀 👊
Thank you so much! This was extremely helpful. Subscribed!
Hey Hey! Thanks for watching! 😀 👊
This one is a total game changer for using AUM! 👍
Thanks great tips as always 😁
Hi There! Great to see you stopping by! 😁🙏
I hope this helps you in your musical journey!
C'est vraiment fabuleux! 💙
It will definitely! Puppet piggies are still touring the UK and we have just finished a show all about egg characters called Eggs on Legs - check out the website we have a new video 🐷😜
Very useful thanks
Thanks for watching! 😁👊
Really cool stuff! Thanks for those tips, guys :)
Thanks for watching, Colin! 😀 👊
I couldn't believe the info/answer was already out there in a video from Mitch that I had missed!
What an amazing step up for this wonderful app!
This *really* takes things to another level!
HEy- I know this video is a little old but it’s fantastic. REALLY big help. I’m curios about the rest of your setup in AUM. What is the Downfilter channel? Is that an audio file? And what are the A/B bus sends going to? Is there a MASTER tracK? Thanks again so great. What a help this was! :)
Hey Hey, Scott! I actually have a video on how I use downfilter samples in AUM: th-cam.com/video/KvrVbgy4_GI/w-d-xo.html
A send is reverb, B send is delay - you can *customize* a TON of sends/returns in AUM.
Yes, i'm using a master channel. 😀 👊
@@ElectronisoundsAudio AWSOME brah. Thanks and Aloha!
What have I been missing? How long has this app been out? Great tutorial!
Hey Hey! Thanks for watching! 😀 👊
Yeah, AUM is crazy powerful if you're doing any sort of music making on an iPad! It's SWEET!! 👍
Very useful, cheers!
Hey Hey! Thanks for watching!
Hey Hey! Welcome to the channel, Jason and thanks for the support! 😁🙏👊
FYI (in case you weren’t aware) when typing on iPad , double-tap the shift key to get caps lock
THANK YOU! 😀 👊
This sort of thing happens to me *all the time* - lol
I mostly just use the iPad for music, so a *lot* of the basic functions of how to use it I never really learned. DOH!! 😏
Thx, Dean 👍 What about making your loops in Gadget, export them and import them in AUM😀
Absolutely YES! You Bet! 100% Yes! BOOM! 😀 👊
Awesome! I’m fairly new at music production and you just answered a question I had as to how to make my own loops for Launchpad! Thank you and well done. It also gives me encourage to to see you make and fix mistakes!
I'd love to see you and EyeWillCreate do stuff together. Same synth geekery inside I'd say. Peace and you rule!
Thanks for the kind words, Bro!
I couldn't find a YT channel - Do you maybe have a direct link to EyeWillCreate so I can check him out? WOOT! 😁🙏👊

Cool, if i export loops from Gadget 2 - i could combine them with au3 and efx and many more. Thats very nice.
Awwwww Yeah! Now you're talking! 😀 👊
However, the DJ mixer's fx not being recorded is a thing with the mixer itself, not iPad.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thanks man,
Thanks for watching, Lenny! 😀 👊
I hope this helps you in *your* musical journey!
@@ElectronisoundsAudio Great!, I'll try that, I'm just starting with AUM, Thanks for replying even if it's an old video! 🤘🏻

@@ElectronisoundsAudio hmm. It seems to forget mine Everytime unless I save it in a session 😂😬
@@user-uh7ll1kn2q Yes - of course you have to save it in a session - the routing is all based on each specific session. 😀 👊
Each session will be different - and require it's own routing.
You can set up (and SAVE) a general *TEMPLATE* with your basic go-to starting and routing /set up -
then load that each time you want to make something, and immediately save it under a new name to keep your *TEMPLATE* intact.
The routing in AUM is always based on the specific session - every session can have it's own setup and custom routing. 😀 👊
@@ElectronisoundsAudio yes sir, it took me awhile to figure that one out 😂 AUM is awesome. I've used it for so much. Great video btw. Definitely a need to know. Keeping that DSP down is crucial!
Hi... great vid.
I'm doing it for a while, it's also solving the non auv drum machine problem 😎
But I find that making and exporting loops are easier and more accurate in gadget and cubasis.
I wrote to Jonathan asking to make an option of loop recording...still no answer 🤠
Thanks for watching, Sam! I am really excited to learn about this! 😀 👊
So I could create a loop in Cubase on my PC using VSTs that are not available on iOS and import the wave into AUM......... AWESOME!
Absolutely! Thanks for watching! 😁👊
People today are so spoiled. In the 90s I had a Ensoniq Mirage and an EPS 16+. Learned looping the hard way. Saved everything on floppy disk.
Hey Hey! 😀 👊 I'm old skool too, but minus the attitude. ;) I used floppies and vintage sampler just a few weeks ago! th-cam.com/video/wzH-_K1nUhU/w-d-xo.html
@@ElectronisoundsAudio lol
lol we're not in the 90s anymore
That’s really a great video. I have a query. How can I trigger loops using launch pad app with click using AUM app ? The main thing is I need to route 2 channels for loops other 2 for cue’s and track. Is it possible ? Thanks
Not sure that's possible, I don't use launchpad like this, sorry.
These are pretty familiar features of Ableton Live. I had no idea we could do them in AUM.
Totally! I've been wanting to do this for ages inside of AUM - I didn't think it was possible, until I saw Mitch's video! This technique is awesome for iOS! 😀 👊
What about recording loop live to merge in something new in your performance? Can you just use loopy or eos
Thanks for watching! Not sure I understand your question, though. EOS 2 is a reverb effect from Audio Damage. But You could definitely use a looping app to blend something in live with this kind of thing. Not exactly what I'm showing though. I'm just showing how to MAKE and export seamless loops from AUM. How you set up your live jams, could be as custom and specific as you like! WOOT! 😀 👊
@@ElectronisoundsAudio sorry i got confuse with the looper they have, anyway good job, i was just saying that might be as much interesting as for a performance set up
Hey mate! Why Do you use ipad when you get AKAI Force! 😱 😬
lol - I use *everything!* 😃

15:05 Boom!
Hi enso plugin can loop in aum but i don’t know if it’s good for processor ?
Hi there! 😀 👊
I have not played with Enso, but it looks really awesome! 👍👍
Was thinking of using beat maker 3 like the launchpad app however not only would I like to play scenes I would like to use the pad to play the clips like Launchpad
Not sure if it’s possible
Currently, the clips inside the scenes are not launchable from a midi controller.
You have to set up the scenes you want, and then launch the scenes as a whole scene. (I hope that makes sense... lol)
I believe you can launch the clips in side the scenes *manually* with your finger though! 😁
🔥🔥🔥🙌🏾😎💫
Thanks for watching! 😀 👊
wow kind of a another Launch pad type but powerful
The ability to combine the loops you've made and use them *with* some AUv3 synths and drum machines in real-time is pretty sweet!! (A lot of creative potential here! YAY!) 😀 👊
@@ElectronisoundsAudio very well put
@@ElectronisoundsAudio thinking of getting a controller- I noticed you have the novation controller
@@issiewizzie YES! The Novation Launch Control XL pairs really well with AUM!
Although - *ANY* midi controller that is "class-compliant" will work, so you can choose any that suit *your specific needs* for amount of faders, buttons and knobs! 👍
Maybe its a Canadian thing,
Ever time I try this with a drum machine it never records the first beat properly then the samples doesn’t loop properly 🤷🏻♂️
Uh-Oh! Sorry to hear about your trouble, Ross!
My only suggestions would be to make sure your iPad is fully updated, that your version of AUM is fully updated and that you've done a hard reboot of your iPad.
Hope that helps! 😀 👊
