Well, first I took careful notes of your instructions. Got all that down. Next, I went through it all, step by step, but with some struggle, as Cubasis 3 kept failing to stay loaded in AUM. But, eventually, I got four tracks in AUM connected with four tracks in Cubasis 3. Then I armed track 1, went back to AUM and hit Record, went back to Cubasis and hit record for track 1 (Jazz Drummer) and let it go for 40 bars so I'd have room to improvise. It looked like everything was working, but when I stop recording, instead of a waveform, I had only a flat line and no sound during playback. Not sure what was wrong, but it seemed to be Cubasis that was the problem. I was having problems with it staying connected to AUM throughout the whole session and, ultimately, it failed to record. It even crashed a couple of times. This is on a 7th Gen iPad, iPadOS 16.5.1, with 128GB (95GB free).
This is gold. I presume it’s possible to set up a template, duplicate the template, work from the duplicate andvrename it later? Thanks so much for this, Doug.
Thank you Doug, you are such a good teacher. Your tutorials are much appreciated. If there is a way to send midi tracks to NS2 using AUM in a similar fashion, I would love to see that. ☮️❤️🎹
So when I’m using this compressor when I’m gain staging and getting my track to around -24 DB would I mainly be messing with the make up gain to achieve that measurable -24 DB?
Can I please ask why you would want to do this? AUM brings nothing to the table Cubasis does not? Plus it’s less system efficient. Genuine question....
Hi Slim, yes there is, just make sure you enable LINK in Future Drummer, also make sure that the HOST Start/Stop is switched on too. You also have to make sure LINK is switched on in AUM too. In the top left corner of AUM is the tempo, tap that to open the tempo settings, at the very bottom of the menu that drops down there are three little dots, tap that and you can set everything, including LINK settings
Cool tutorial, thank you. Do you (or anybody else) know, why this isn't possible with Garageband instead of Cubasis? I tried to route two pairs of stereo channels (two different m/s mic setups to the inputs of my interface) from AUM (m/s decoder as insert) to GB but had no luck. It seems like GB can handle only one stereo stream at once.
Got to be doing something wrong. Watched the first five minutes 4 times and still can't get any sound when I change from phones to Cubasis. Paused the video many times try to see if I had the wrong button pushed. What am I doing wrong??
@@TheSoundTestRoom I don't know. Last night when I left it there was no sound coming out. Changed it back to headphones, cleared session, and headed for bed. Just opened the file, changed it back from headphones to Cubasis and it works. Only thing different is I am using the built in keyboard not my little Akia. Correct me if I am wrong; Monitoring is the blue speaker icon, armed the red record button.
Hello I have a question. I have cubasis2 and a nanokontrol2 is possible to operate the nanokontrol2 with to make solo or mute and use the faders thank you very much.
helllo . Thanks for tutorials . Why was Cubasis loaded on the 3rd track of AUM in the first part of the video? It does not sync the transport or anything like that with aum and cubasis . and the audio signal routes just fine without Cubasis loaded in AUM track.?
Check out the enso AUv3 looper from audio damage, that and aum alone are great for looping, them you can use cubasis to record the audio for posting later
Was wondering if you can also record the midi out of aum into a midi track in cubasis? I’m assuming you would set the input in aum to be cubasis and your controller. That way you can hear the recorded midi in cubasis. This possible?
One question I have is why would I do this? I don’t have Cubasis yet, but can’t you use all these instruments straight into Cubasis? What benefit does AUM give? Thanks
It’s much easier to set up big performance sessions in AUM, plus you can open up multiple instances of AUv3s on the screen at the same time, the routing is incredible in AUM. So a lot of my videos use AUM for Live sessions, you can also record everything inside AUM, have it save as separate tracks To AudioShare then export to Cubasis or whatever is your preferred DAW, but redoing directly into Cubasis in this way give you instant access to a Live Session for further editing later.
Greg Norlin You can pretty much do anything you can imagine in AUM, you can record midi but you will need another App called Atom, think of AUM as a hub that kind of brings everything together, but it does require a lot of other apps to do it, it’s a bit like another brilliant App called apeMatrix. Here is a link to a video I made about Atom th-cam.com/video/pTQMO6l4x8I/w-d-xo.html But just just search thesoundtestroom AUM, I probably have over 100 videos that feature the App doing all sorts of cool stuff
I record in AUM, it stores my recordings directly into AudioShare. I then have to import my recordings into Cubasis at another time if I want to overdub a guitar, bass, percussion or vocals. I use Cubasis to mix the final product and AUM for sequenced synthesised sounds.
The Sound Test Room thanks ! So you could theoretically have multiple instances of Korg module have a separate channel? I wasn’t sure the same app could have multiple instruments from same app at same time
Using AUM into Cubasis avoids the constant bug Cubasis has with Inter-Apps freezing all the time. Awesome idea, thanks.
Great video, Doug. Wouldn’t have had a clue how to do this as a newbie without it. Cheers!

You're not the only one, still crushing all the time, it's a mess setup and I am not happy eather. Every time I get different outcome.

Hi Bobbo, yes, you can set up templates in AUM, and save and recall all your sessions
Finally a to the point tutorial, thank you!
Exactly!!!
Definitely earned a subscriber!
Thanks for this and everything you do for iOS music. Can confirm this works great with Cubasis 3 and AUM 1.4.1
Part of that reminded me of late 70s/early 80s Queen 🤗
Thanx for video but why dont open it (each synth) directly in cubasis as an interapp instead of using the mixer?
Great vid Doug. I have been wanting to know how to do this for sometime. Learned a great deal from your good self!
Great video! What about clock sync settings? Does it automatically take the beat of AUM?
Great video Doug, that explains so much so easily. And for once it didn’t cost me anything at the App Store.
Thank you Doug, you are such a good teacher. Your tutorials are much appreciated. If there is a way to send midi tracks to NS2 using AUM in a similar fashion, I would love to see that. ☮️❤️🎹
Thanks Dave, I haven’t tried it with NS2 yet though
Thanks, that helped loads.
Glad it helped

Brilliant a way to get effects sends in AUM to Cubasis. Can you route midi into Cubasis as well?
Can I please ask why you would want to do this? AUM brings nothing to the table Cubasis does not? Plus it’s less system efficient. Genuine question....
Of course I want more. Is there a way to add a drum app, say Future Drummer? And get it to start at the same time?
Hi Slim, yes there is, just make sure you enable LINK in Future Drummer, also make sure that the HOST Start/Stop is switched on too.

Thank you! This was a very welcome tutorial.
Thanks for the help with this Doug, great video!
I’m not getting any sound coming from SynthMaster 2. My setup looks exactly like yours

Hi Doug,
This is from a couple of years ago. Have you done an update with Cubasis 3.4?
Cheers!
Not yet, but it should work exactly the same as it does here
I tied to do this about a month ago but failed. Then, I watched this video and now I know how - THANKS!
Got to be doing something wrong. Watched the first five minutes 4 times and still can't get any sound when I change from phones to Cubasis. Paused the video many times try to see if I had the wrong button pushed. What am I doing wrong??
Hi Slim
After you have set it all up have you made sure that the tracks you want to hear are set for MONITORING and if recording also ARMED?

Hi Slim, yes that’s correct

Is this doable with garageband instead of cubasis?
So good and to the point.

Because I wanted to show how to actually Record the output from AUM into Cubasis
THANK YOU Mr Doug, Sir! It has been so long since I have used Inter App Audio (IAA) that I had completely forgotten how to! Great👍😎 Like Striked👍
Good demo/much appreciated 👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾🇦🇺
Great video Doug, especially for a technophobe and midiot like me cheers.👍
Thanks Hozzer

Thank YOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much I really needed this video
Could you build a live looping rig like this (using the loop region in Cubasis)? Or is Aum capable of doing that on it's own?
Check out the enso AUv3 looper from audio damage, that and aum alone are great for looping, them you can use cubasis to record the audio for posting later
Can I record ravenscroft and export it as MIDI file ?
Brilliant vid thanks 👍

I would like to know this as well.
Super useful tutorial. Thanx!
Great video!
Do a video about Tabletop. Is anyone using it still?
THANX DOUG....

Idont have the same display with my iPad Pro 2018 0r 2019, is there an other tutorial with the new set up on iPad Pro?
That’s strange, it should exactly the same, have you updated to the latest version of AUM?
brilliant instructions ...u should become a teacher
although mine did say cant record because its not a midi channel, its audio ...hmmm
👍🏼😎

A lot money in pluggins
Cubasis is so horrible. I hope Bitwig or Ableton will find a way to port it to the new iPad Pro M2
