    I own a 2014 GS350. I was given a loaner 2022 ES350 for a couple days by Lexus while they took care of a fuel pump recall. The ES was nice but the GS driving dynamics were simply worlds better in any driving situation, from around town stop and go to higher speed sweepers to twisty two lanes. New or used, the GS is well worth the difference in price and you will probably get most of that difference back when you sell or trade it.

    Just picked up a 2013 ES 350 with only 30k miles on it, one owner kept it cherry. GS would have been nice, but honestly the ES is nicer than most domestics in my opinion.

    Simplicity of ES, less mechanical crap, regular gas vs premium for GS - something to consider. GS is better looking for sure though.

    • @805NAVE
      @805NAVE 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      STS 1 you can put regular gas in both GS and ES. They both have same 3.5 V6. Heck, you can even put regular gas in an LS even tho they recommend premium. I have an LS460 4.6 V8 and I’ve been putting regular gas in it for the last 2 years lol

    • @sts1541
      @sts1541 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@805NAVE I'm glad you're ok with regular in your GS. I have GX470 also and tried using regular once till engine started to ping like it was going to fell apart.
      Now, even though ES and GS have 3.5L engine, they are NOT exactly the same. GS has GDI I believe and ES has PFI, GS makes 302HP and ES 268HP. GS does require premium where ES does not, I'm talking about 2016 model years.

      2013, I thrash it which most drivers my age don't. It struggles for grip off the line but once moving is sure quick enough, that's what makes it a great cruiser. I am surprised at the good lock and how it sticks to the corners, just breaks away at the back if pushing too hard.

    I own a 1998 Lexus ES 300 with almost 200k miles. Just test drove a base model 2013 GS 350. It was pretty powerful! Sport mode definitely hugs the road Which is great when turning tight corners. Also test drove a 2014 IS 250 but it felt too cramped inside and I’m only 5’8. Next, I’ll test drive a 2013 - 14 ES 350 BUT i might have to go with the GS 350. The ES is a entry level vehicle. The GS cost more and is refined to go against the European sports cars. The ES is more or of a limo that’s why it is bigger. There is no comparison between the two. One is sporty the other is entry level luxury.

    • @SergCarReviews
      @SergCarReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi mate! Firstly thank you so much for watching and commenting :D You are right the ES is technically entry level luxury but here in Australia I would say the Honda Legend/ Genisis (at the time as they're no longer in Aus)/ Holden Caprice and such would be considered entry level luxury at $60k where-as the Lexus ES was around $90k which still ofcourse was cheaper than E Class, 5 series, etc... I understand where you're coming from and at the same time if someone is buying a used car of these they will definitely be comparing the two :) Anyways have a good one mate and look forward to seeing you on the next one 😊

But the newer ES's have come along nicely *even has a sport mode too. The only real difference is FWD or RWD. Unless you're getting the GS 350 F sport it's not really worth the extra$ IMHO, The ES is the most bang for your buck. The GS is a little more sporty but it's just not a sports car(except the gs300's *2JZ)😁. Either vehicle is going to perform well, and will last a very long time! GL

More power even than the GS350 thanks to the electric motors of the hybrid drive system and yet it gets better than 8L/100Kms around town and 6.2L/100Kms on the highway. Plus being the Sports Luxury it comes with all the bells and whistles. This replaced the 2003 LS430 that had given great service for the past 9+ years and was still going strong. Owner an LS 400 and two LS 430’s also rode in an ES before buying a 2013 GS 350 with 34k miles on it recently. It has the luxury package. The LS and to a lesser extent ES autos are fine , comfortable machines. They handle fairly well, and are loaded with comfort and comfortable limo driving. The GD has brought me back to my youth, fifty years ago. Also oodles of luxury yet this one feels and handles like a driving beast which has made driving fun again. Both are very dependable. Hope to hand this GS over to my grandchildren in about fifteen years when the vehicle will have about 60 K on it, hopefully still in mint condition. Both LS and G S are masters of the road and unbelievably dependable enjoyable transportation. Asp own an RX 350 with all wheel drive., a 2011 eleven with less than 40 K miles. Great for safe, dependable all weather driving. Never met a Lexus that ai did not fall in love with.

    I wonder if you are getting the same engines in Australia that are provided in North America: the 2013, '14, '15 Gen 6 ES 350 has a 2GR-FE rated at 268 HP. (Maybe they use a different measuring/calculation system in the different market places?) I've had a 2014 ES 350 since April of 2019 and love it. Prior to that I drove a 2003 Camry 4 cyl. and, living in Western Canada, did a lot of mountain driving in winter (ski trips). The fwd never let me down: the secret being to have good snow tires (not "all-weather" or "4-season"). So far I've had no problems with the ES although to be fair, I don't ski any more (age), and Covid has kept us close to home for the last 2 years. When I upgraded from the old Camry (it was at 280,000 km) I was really interested in the Avalon but could not find one in good condition. A bit of a "brain wave" hit and I started looking for an ES...so glad I did! They might look the same, might have slightly different options (I like the some of the ones in an Avalon), but the driving, quiet, road sense of the Lexus really sold me. The years of Lexus and especially the ES being at #1 for reliability did not hurt neither. My daughter is still driving that old Camry, doing a long of mountain skiing in the Rockies she's got it up to 320,000 km now and still no problems. Beat them with a stick and they laugh at you.

But, the turning was dangerously accurate, you could easily do things you shouldn't do in a car. (after new struts) Then three warning lights went on after a small bump in my driveway. The price of stock springs had dropped by half and I got them in. Went up 2", and bumps are now dreamy. Handling is good, but I won't push it anymore. I am kind of odd about putting cars in "pigeon holes" so in my definition of sporty-luxury cars, both of these cars are hoping you will think they are sporty (if that will get you to buy them) but to me they have luxury way too well covered. That GS was almost an isolation tank.

      @SergCarReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Howard Kerr Hi Howard, I will be the first to agree that the generation prior to this GS was far from sporty even in the V8 (GS430). It was far more a luxury car than anything else. This generation tested was a lot more playful and ‘sportier’ almost attempting to be like a S-Line on an Audi or an M pack on the BMWs. I know it seems confusing and maybe needs to be driven to understood 😆. Also thank you so much for watching! If you haven’t subscribed, do watch the channel because I’m releasing a video every week for the next 5 weeks including the LS500 vs S Class and evening reviewing the LS460! Jim Gann Hi Jim! Firstly thank you so much for watching 😄! Now to answer your question, if you like it then go for it! You’ll be pleasantly surprised every day you jump in it and drive it and even look forward to it! The mileage is really low for a Lexus and quite the average for the age. Make sure it has the service history as well and everything checks out. Good luck with it mate and please let me know how you go 😄 If you like send me some photos on Instagram @serg.ss! • @SergCarReviews
      @SergCarReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi John, thanks so much for the question! Now over here in Australia we don’t have the diesel so I couldn’t tell you engine wise however I can say how th cars feel. The IS is on the shorter wheel base so it’s much more rigid and you feel a lot more of the road than you do in the GS (longer frame). That makes the GS a much smoother ride and more comfortable. If price and budget allows the GS is definitely the way to go! Hope this helps :)

    There sure as hell wasn't a $30,000 Yankee dollar difference between these two cars in the USA when they were new. More like $10-15k depending on how you optioned them. And yes today used they are similar price, a similar year/miles/condition ES350 is going to be 2-4k cheaper than a GS. Just did the comparo, figured all I do is drive on the interstate and bought the ES350. Styling wise they looked almost identical in my eye, both are pretty sharp, this gen ES really did away with the fuddy duddy old lady styling of past gens IMO.

      Congratulations on your new car well done mate! What year model was your one?? I’m sure you already love the car! It’s hard not to love 😄
      Yeah the price difference here in Australia is ridiculous and it’s mostly just taxes which cause it to be such a massive difference, and that’s why they depreciate a lot harder.

      How can an ES drive better than a Camry when both them are FRONT WHEEL DRIVE? The only definite differences I can find are interior details and Mark Levingston audio in the Lexus. Also the Avalon started off from a Camry anyway. I might as well just buy a Camry V6 leather or even a hybrid Camry. Otherwise a GS which have a completely different rear wheel drive platform, not a "tinkered" Camry platform found on both Avalon and the ES.

    It is clear Lexus is starting to go "cheap' The 2019 is 2.5 4 cylinder + battery with that eCVT that just annoys along with the cheap out on interiors . If you find a 3.5 L V6 ES ultra Luxury sports from 2017 - 2018 .. Grab it. The fuel economy is amazing as is the comfort and the Lexus 2.5 safety system. Full panoramic roof, Mark Levinson sound system. front heated and cooled seats with memory and it has a full size spare with an alloy wheel. The GS probably was the Ultimate if you can find the V8 . We appear to be going into a Boring future.. and I hate it.

      Hi David! That's a fair point you bring up! What I will say is my opinion was based on driving both cars with an open mind and was only developed after driving both cars. Something to remember when I do my reviews is that I've usually had the car for a couple of days if not weeks at a time so by the time I make my videos I have finally formed an opinion. I am not like others who prefers a badge/brand etc and hopefully you can tell from the videos. Also once an opinion is formed I feel like there will always be a bias towards it :D
