St Louis may got some Problems but it still has a great downtown and Outstanding History and One of the Most Unique Artitectures Out there including there famous U shaped statue
2:33 This part of St Louis is where the 1981 action/ Sci-fi film Escape From New York with Kurt Russell was filmed. The director master of horror John Carpenter used this part of St. Louis to film an decaying New York in the future due to a horrible fire in 1976.
13:45 A: "I swear St Louis is the capital of MO. That there looks like the Capitol building!" B: "But St. Louis is not the capital of MO; that is Jefferson City."
The building is the old St. Louis County Courthouse (back when St. Louis was the county seat, pre-1876). It is being renovated once again and brought back toward its' original interior appearance. St. Charles was the first state capital; moved to the City of Jefferson in 1837.
That " capitol" building is the old cout house. The one dred Scott case was heard. He and his wife are buried in Calvary cemetary a stones throw from Gen Sherman.
Now, you wanna talk about bad roads? Here we are! One can see the new, favorite resurfacing is steel plate to cover collapsing water and sewer lines. Yes, there are many old and historic buildings, but so many of them are vacant and have been for a number of years, falling victim to squatters and the homeless, with out-of-state owners not caring. WashAve is OK most of the time, but not on weekend nights. It is much worse north and west of downtown. The city has much to do to restore itself to what it was when I first moved there in 1965.

St. Louis has a nice Downtown. Very similar to Detroit's downtown. Unfortunately, St. Louis seems to still get lots of negative national media attention much like Detroit did up until recent years. St. Louis downtown looks like it has a ton of potential, and they have a decent metro system for the size of the city hopefully it turns around in the next decade. Now that Detroit grew in population for the first time in 70 years, I think St. Louis is right behind them and will start to see the population loss turn around.
I lived in St Louis for over 40 years. Much to like. Much to not like. As in hot summers and often brutal winters. And crime. And more crime. So sad downtown isn't quite the same anymore

Nice to see the older buildings preserved.
It's cool how Saint Louis kept its historic buildings like the original Union Station, the old courthouse and how it compliments the Gateway Arch!
hopefully something can be done about the East before all the old buildings crumble beyond repair
Great to see the buildings in st louis beinh preserved. Love the view of the gateway arch
Nice work! Thanks for the video!
Beautiful and historic town!
15:51 that's neat about that interstate highway sign
They are everywhere downtown since the 4 interstates meet there. I think I remember one with all four
It's still a beautiful city with amazing history

Yup. That's the Old Court House Building, part of the Gateway Arch Nat'l Park.

Not as long as crime and poor schools continue.
