Why? I usually can't stand teen dramas, but I found myself enjoying this one. I don't think it's "edgy", I think it's a very raw and unfiltered (and because of that, quite honest) look at this fecked up generation (IRL is even worse). It's also a beautifully shot (the channel The Beauty Of made a great video about the cinematography) and well crafted tv show. I think the editing is one of the best things about it. The transitions between scenes are incredibly seamless.

There's no brilliant story telling or twists or turns or character development lol. It's just random bs happening. Try breaking bad, better call saul, Mr Robot, attack on titan, and u will see brilliant storytelling, foreshadowing, cinematography (not bright lights like euphoria), a sound track that fits the scenes and has deaper meaning, not just cool sounds, and a story and writing that is interesting on its own, and only made better by actors performances. Euphoria just doesn't have any of that. They have randomly strung together events that don't intertwine for any reason. It's just high-school drama lol

it's actually fairly good for what it is. a stupid teen drama. it's not meant to fully make sense so when you fully dissect it there's plot holes, but if you just watch it you'll enjoy it

It's good. I'm a dude and I feel like the trauma, the dealing with drug addiction, the hustle to do anything to keep your family a float, sexuality, feeling outcasted, and the power that an individual has based on popularity or powerful parent and knowing how to manipulate people with it. It's not just a teen drama its fucken real shit that happens behind close doors to people you wouldnt expect it happening to.
It watched it with my girlfriend. Some scenes were unbearable, others were okay. Overall the show is just cinematic high school drama with a shit ton of sex and parties thrown in. I give it a 4/10 it tried.
My wife loves the show, and I tried as well for her. The thing for me was what are the odds of having all of these weird ass controversies going on in one town at the exact same time.

Truly unbearable, and not even so bad it's good :(
I thought it was pretty good. I liked the cinematography, and the acting was pretty great for the most part. The story could be contrived and/or hamfisted, but I don't think it's as unbearable as you make it seem. I think Rue's withdrawal was exceptionally realistic. The themes in the show are pretty intense, with some focus on critical social issues and topics. It's a very "modern" teen drama if you will. Do I think it's a bad show? No. Do I think it's a great show? Also, no. But I think what it lacks in the occasional clumsy plot device, it makes up for with somewhat compelling storytelling, extremely competent cinematography (seriously, the shot with Jules on the bike riding through the orchard is beautiful), ambitiously tackling some controversial topics and some "interesting" character development. I didn't like all of the show. There were moments I wish would end as soon as they started. But I won't write off the entire show's output as "shit" because of that. The second season finale was garbage though.
@@jamesv6990 Yeah some of the shots were admittedly nice, but with a budget like that there should have been more. and the biggest issue for me was the suspension of disbelief, yes some of the main characters had very human story arcs, but it didn't help that most of them were extremely attractive, fit, and (most of the male characters) juiced to hell. Ruined immersion in the world, if you will. There are no "normal" teenagers who look remotely or act remotely like these characters, and it kinda fucks with the mind. It's like Steven King novels that focus on kids, adults are caricatures who act nothing like real humans. I will wholly admit though that a lot of the cinematography was gorgeous.

The 3 episode rule determines whether you should keep watching a show. The first episode started out good and it got ALOT worse from there. Uninteresting characters given boring narration from a character who really shouldn't even know all about their lives in the first place. And we go from a Teen drug addict with a broken family to a dumb teen drama about a girl with an only fans and some petty romance between a couple that's broken up. And Rue just got very stupid from there. She presents herself as this "I'm so above it all" that knows everything but then she just suddenly becomes friends with Jules, a random girl she just met, and nearly gets herself killed because she wouldn't listen to Fez when he warned her multiple times to leave and come back later. All this show tells me is that it's just going to be filled with characters acting stupid and doing dumb shit for even dumber reasons.

I thought it was pretty good. I liked the cinematography, and the acting was pretty great for the most part. The story could be contrived and/or hamfisted, but I don't think it's as unbearable as you make it seem. I think Rue's withdrawal was exceptionally realistic. The themes in the show are pretty intense, with some focus on critical social issues and topics. It's a very "modern" teen drama if you will. Do I think it's a bad show? No. Do I think it's a great show? Also, no. But I think what it lacks in the occasional clumsy plot device, it makes up for with somewhat compelling storytelling, extremely competent cinematography (seriously, the shot with Jules on the bike riding through the orchard is beautiful), ambitiously tackling some controversial topics and some "interesting" character development. I didn't like all of the show. There were moments I wish would end as soon as they started. But I won't write off the entire show's output as "shit" because of that. The second season finale was garbage though.
@@jamesv6990 Yeah some of the shots were admittedly nice, but with a budget like that there should have been more. and the biggest issue for me was the suspension of disbelief, yes some of the main characters had very human story arcs, but it didn't help that most of them were extremely attractive, fit, and (most of the male characters) juiced to hell. Ruined immersion in the world, if you will. There are no "normal" teenagers who look remotely or act remotely like these characters, and it kinda fucks with the mind. It's like Steven King novels that focus on kids, adults are caricatures who act nothing like real humans. I will wholly admit though that a lot of the cinematography was gorgeous.

The 3 episode rule determines whether you should keep watching a show. The first episode started out good and it got ALOT worse from there. Uninteresting characters given boring narration from a character who really shouldn't even know all about their lives in the first place. And we go from a Teen drug addict with a broken family to a dumb teen drama about a girl with an only fans and some petty romance between a couple that's broken up. And Rue just got very stupid from there. She presents herself as this "I'm so above it all" that knows everything but then she just suddenly becomes friends with Jules, a random girl she just met, and nearly gets herself killed because she wouldn't listen to Fez when he warned her multiple times to leave and come back later.
All this show tells me is that it's just going to be filled with characters acting stupid and doing dumb shit for even dumber reasons.

@@blekvasha If I wanted to watch a show where characters make dumb decisions I'd watch Always Sunny and even then that show makes more sense because atleast the characters are intentionally written to be stupid and illogical.
Honestly I just watched it because there's an actual trans character which is like non-existent in tv, there are some really funny moments, and some cute moments, but most of the time it's just really silly.
You and I were on the same page with not liking this series. More power to the next person who likes it, but I went through some episodes and thought it was silly.

Honestly the first season wasn’t too bad but season 2 put me off so bad, season 6-8 of GOT was better than season 2 euphoria
