      Why not use English language as lingua franca? It will boost scientific learning. Learning more than 2 languages would be inconvenient for native speakers.

      @@ringsulgry8148assamese is already used as a lingua franca by the tribes of assam. Its impossible to change to english. And it shouldn't be changed either. Native language + assamese as a means for communication with diff tribes (which is being used quite well) and english is already taught in schools. Native languages should be promoted and used for sure.

      We should have first priority to Assamese....😌💕 Assamese language is formed by the all tribes habiting in assam with their different speeches and tune......yeah we should Pride and Preserve our ancient Language but for communication from home to outside in any part of Assam , it must given priority to Assamese..... Which help to Make unity in diversity...❤❤

      @@masterpenguin3507i mean to say assamese is not an ethnic group, people of various communities of different origin are together called Assamese. Like dimasa boro sonowal are united called kachari or bodo kachari as they have same origin but that is not the same case for Assamese. By assamese what i have understand so far is that communities tribal and non tribal whose ancestors became the devotees of neo vaishnavism of Assam are assamese. some Bodo kachari people like sarania sonowal thengal moran matak are assamese but boros whose ancestors stayed away from neo vaishnavism are boros not assamese, you are both ethnically and linguistically boro but i am ethnically ahom but linguistically assamese same sonowal are ethnically kachari but linguistically assamese. Even Bodo intellectuals also assert these facts that they had maintained their ethnic traits,characteristics and culture, but other bodo groups like sarania sonowal thengal have given up their bodo languages.

    I wonder(actually confused) if the BIHU songs & dances are part of the Tai culture & tradition.The Ahoms are one of the major Tai tribes,yet one might notice that all the tai tribes across the world understands each other atleast 70 to 80% (if not 100%)of the spoken tai languages but not a single word from the bihu songs could be understood by any tai group of the world, even the dances,traditional costumes and way of livelihood differs from the rest of their Tai bethrens.im saying all these not to offend anyone or any specific tai group,im just curious and would appreciate anyone who ever clarifies this topic.i love my Tai Ahom brothers and thats the reason im eager to know more about them.

      When Tai Ahoms came to Assam they were very few in number (about 10,000). They ruled Assam which was predominantly inhibited by other Non Tai groups. Since they were very less in number and since they had to rule the original inhabitant, they gradually followed the culture of the people they were ruling. At some point of time they adopted hinduism and even adopted the local language which is now called Assamese. Now the present Tai Ahoms is kind of a mixed race. But in recent time there has been some revival process going on.
      Nevertheless the Tai Ahom kings had to do what they had to do. We are happy that the Tai Ahom kings did not imposed their culture and religion to the locals, but they should have given little bit more importance to their Tai culture and language then.
      I am a Tai Ahom and I am proud of my ethnicity and my history even if they do not match with other Tai groups.

      @@deepgogoi5821 Swasdee Khraap. I’m from Tak Thailand. Please let us not forget that the Dai people who entered upper Assam and Lohit intermarried with local tribes such as Moran, Sutiya and Kassary, there is no doubt that the local Bihu customs became prominent. If they had refused to assimilate it would have been impossible to form such a formidable empire.
      Likewise in my place also the Dai intermarried heavily with Mon and Khmer peoples, therefore even in Thailand we have a culture which is different from the other Shan and Tai ones.

      I think most of the tai kingdoms were established in the late 11th and early 12th century right? After the dais/tais escaped chinese slavery. Also my dad tells me that our ancestors were used to make the great wall of China and our hands cut down to prevent another magnificent structure built and this caused a rebellion. Moreover the Mongols were also advancing

      Bihu is originally Kachari culture..... Bihu comes from Dimasa word and festival Bishu.... Assamese language was generalised by Barman Dynasty of Dimasa Kachari kingdom while at Kamarupa Pragjyotishpur..... 9000 Tais came mixed with local Dimasa/Kacharis(Moran, Sutiya, lalung, Sonowal) Entire Assam was kachar
      Upto 1500Ad.....Tai were tai only for first generation is 1228to1300......they later totally mingled with Kacharis.... And adopted local Kachari language ie Assamese of Upper Assam... And in 1490 there was a first conflict between the original power of northeast ie Dimapur kingdom vs Ahom kingdom... Where Kacharis fought from both sides
      Today Kacharis are seen in entire northeast India

    The Ahoms may have emigrated from the Dehong Dai and Jingpho Autonomous Perfecture,an autonomous perfecture in western Yunnan province,China.The Ahoms have similarities with the khamyangs, khamtis and the aitonias linguistically and culturally although the Ahoms no more speak the tai language due to assimilation into Assamese society.Mutual intelligibility exists between the few Tai words used by the Tai Ahoms and other Tai ethnicities of Northeast India.Sukaphaa,a Shan(derived from the word Siam)Prince from Mong Mao established the Ahom dynasty in 1228 AD.The three varieties(Khamti,Aiton and Phake )of tai language that still exist in Assam belong to the Tai-Kadai language family.These three Tai languages are similar with the exception of a few words.Younger linguists needs to study the Tai language in order to preserve and revive it.The Tai-kadai language is widely spoken in Southeast Asia.

      Whole Assamese community is mixed of different ethnicity and culture.If everyone represents themselves by their caste or ethnic groups then who are Assamese?

    • @Where122
      @Where122 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Pankajsaikiaindiaif people speaking Assamese are Assamese then you meant Bangladeshi too. Who pretends like mingling with Assamese although they are not Assamese. I feel Assamese comprises more of Indo Aryanised castes like-Medhi, Sharma, Goswami , Nath Khayasta, Khasyab, Das, Mahanta some. .. They mainly from Brahmins society who were more familiar with devanangiri, prakrit and brajapali script. Who was more patronised by Vaishnavism sect developed Satras and still follows. For others people indigenous tribes/people of Assam will be better definition than Assamese. But it's of no use as outsiders always say you are an Assamese if you are from Assam.
