The Tai Phake people are an ethnic group residing in the northeastern Indian state of Assam. They are known for their rich cultural heritage and religious practices.
The Namphake Monastery, located in Naharkatia, is a significant spiritual center for the Tai Phake community. The monastery serves as a hub for Buddhist teachings, meditation, and cultural preservation.
One of their vibrant celebrations is the Sangken festival, which marks the traditional New Year. This joyous occasion involves lively water splashing, symbolizing the washing away of past sins and the embracing of a fresh start. Sangken festival showcases the Tai Phake people's unity, faith, and deep-rooted connection to their ancestral traditions.

@@ejunavil then I guess u don't know to distinguished between the aryans and Mongolians of Assam lol. Tai Ahom too came from Yunnan, China. And let me tell u that Assam is filled with different tribes like Mising, Boro, Kachari, Tai Khamti, Tai Phake, Tai Ahom, etc. (These r Mongolians) and aryans (with surname dutta, kalita, choudhory, das, etc.) who were brought by the Ahoms kings (they were basically zamindars, Pandits, etc.) And illegal Bangladeshi immigrants + tea tribe(from Orissa) + Bihari, Muslims, Marwaris, etc. Too. And also there mixed people too.
@@drama.addictkalita came before ahom. Some non brahman people from kannauj migrated after 15th century.
@@Zone07376 I'm not sure abt the Kalitas tbh. Their arrival is only a speculation it's still not confirmed exactly when they came to Assam.

Until 1826 Yandaboo treaty after which our King was a puppet under the British but he resisted a lil bit ( I think he didn't pay them any money he was supposed to pay yearly)and then I think from 1835 Upper Assam was under the Direct control of the British
