Thank you for your excellent series of videos. They are very good. I have just downloaded the PDF for Useful Chinese Time Words and Phrases in Daily Conversation. It is good but it would be excellent if you also had the PINYIN version. I am starting out on my journey and the PINYIN version is helpful in my pronunciation also I have not learned all of the Chinese characters. Many thanks Gareth
I just love the videooooosss!!! So useful and practical, I feel this kind of small parts in a speech make you sound more fluent, simply loving it. Thanks Grace!!!!🙌🙌🙌🙌
Grace, another thing you could explain us: in mandarin, is future and past in the same position as in romanic languages? Example: in portuguese (my language) as well as in english, future is in front of us and past is behind us. I know some languages place future and past both up and down. What about mandarin?
Considering that 以后 and 后面 share the same character, the same way as 以前 and 前面, I'd say time is portrayed just like most European languages. However, there is 下个 and 上个.
Your content is admirable you use both structures "pinyi" and "zhunzi" and traditional character, not just well explained and easy to understand, I can tell how.much efford and passion you put making this video, I wish you the best and all.you.dream coms true, keep it up!
This is the type of lessons I need. Mostly the speaking! It's hard to say a full sentences when your flow is bad. The way you break the sentences down is very meaningful even if you didn't do it deliberately.
I'm finding out about your channel just now, and watching your videos, and i have to say your didactic is very good. I work in a chinese school, i've been learning chinese for 2 years now, im in advanced class right now, and there are so many things i find so so hard to understand. But you explain it in a very clear way.
Hi thank you for the great video hope you make a video about some characters on how to read them like 行 sometimes it read as xíng then sometimes háng i'm so confused how do i read them?
Hi, Ms. Grace. Pardon me, I actually have a question. I just found out your channel this week, and starting to learn Chinese Mandarin. I have plans of living either in HongKong or Taiwan. I know both use traditional characters, and that HK uses cantonese for speaking. I want to know if I end up living in HK, would learning traditional characters still useful knowing Mandarin is different from Cantonese? Would I still understand the HK characters same as in Taiwan? Thank youuuuuu for your response. 💚 Btw, I really really like your approach in teaching. Thank youuuuuu a lot. 💜
Let me help answer you according to my knowledge. The answer is yes. Different pronunciation in Mandarin and Cantonese but the meaning of the characters is the same. There are minor difference of usage of some words and grammar but basically they are the same. And also learning hanzi especially traditional characters is not easy so you better start as soon as possible Hope it helps.
I remember there is this story in a Japanese manga. There is a boy from Japan who wants to go to China to find his grandfather. But before coming to mainland China he must go to Hongkong first to find someone. And he can only speak Mandarin so when in Hongkong he cannot tell the taxi driver where is the address he wanted to go because the driver only speak Cantonese. But then he write down the address and the taxi driver immediately know the place.

Keats Lau Do you mean 才 is a simplified character? No, totally not. It's just the different form of 纔, but still recognized as a traditional character. Even in Taiwan, there's few people know this word because we never use it in our daily life at all. People learn this word from Traditional Chinese Literature classes, which teach us the articles written until the early 20th century.
