I have an 05 Dodge Ram 1500 and videos like this is what helps me with the things I look forward on doing with mine, and I like watching them in general.
I got crazy and changed the bulbs with the house still mounted. Yes....that was a job. Wish I would've seen this video before I bought my LED bulbs. Definitely would've gone with that last set
Man that had to have been a fun install! Haha glad you got it done though. Well hey if you ever need another set in the future, you know what you need now!
If you drive a lot at night, the best headlamps for the 3rd gen 02-05 Ram trucks are the AlphraRex LED projector headlamps. They’re not cheap but superior for light output compared to the factory lamps. I’ve had a 6000k HID kit in my 05 headlamps for years but it still isn’t great. The light is still scattered compared to a quality projector lamp like the AlphaRex headlamps.
I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500, and have been looking for some lights, because the stock ones are crap. I think you just sold me on the GTR Ultra 2s. Great video.
Awesome video, thanks for all of the info. I need to replace the housings on my 05 and I was going to upgrade to LED bulbs in the process. My main question is will the GTR ultra 2's work with a bright box from Geno's Garage or is it a no go. I would love to be able to run both the high and low beams at the same time for a bunch of extra light when the high beam switch is engaged. But I'm not sure if this is doable with a bright box from an electrical draw standpoint, or possible overheating issues. Thanks again.
@HeadlightRevolution thanks for the reply, yeah it's mostly just for off-road and lonely highways. Just wasn't sure if you could illuminate both the high and low beam bulbs at the same time while running LEDs. But now I'm looking at the Alpha Rex Nova's you have on your site and that might be the way to go as far as overall cost between the two setups
These are great videos you guys do a terrific job. My 2005 Dodge Diesel headlights ain't cutting it. I'm thinking of projector housings with LEDs. I'd like your opinion on that and recommendation if you don't mind. Thanks in advance, Jeff.
There was no mention in the video if these will still allow the Daytime Running Lights to function as they use the high beam at reduced voltage. Will the GTR Ultra 2's work?
Hey I have a 2005 model, and I am always looking for an upgrade for lighting. I would love to see a video on adding fog lights to the 2005 model that when purchased did not come with fog lights. If possible. Thanks!
My dad has a 2007 dodge ram 1500 and he bought sone cheap led bulbs and when we installed them the lights only turn on for a couple seconds than shut off until you turn the key off then on. I then bought these resistors kit for the bulbs and now they work but they are stuck in high beam mode and when you hit the high beam switch the low beams come in for 1 second then go back to high beam mode. I now just bought some pwm modules to see if those will work
I have an '05 and my headlights are flickering on low beam on both sides. It has a driver included on each light but it's still flickering on low beam for some reason. I'll give these guys a shout and see if they can help me. I may go ahead and purchase some different light bulbs while I'm at it
I have a 2005 Dodge and you would think after installing a load equalizer the "lamp out" signal would go away but it still shows up! Also when I switch from brights to dims, the lights turn completely off for about a second and then come back on. Any answer on what could be the problem here?
I got the same problem too I took off mine I can’t stand it it keeps going off and on at night when you open the door when you close the door man I just got tired of it I took them off
Looking for help I have 2004 Dodge 1500 RamI have recently installed new headlight housing and then up graded to LED Bulbs. The housing assembly has a black box attached about the size of a deck of cards. The LED’s work except when going from high beam to low beam at that time the driver side will blink about 4 to 6 times and set at low beam. Also I receive a light out on my dash but it turns off when light stops blinking. Is there anything I need to do?
It sounds like you might need a PWM Anti-flicker module to prevent the hyperflashing and bulb-out errors. Shoot us a message, we can help! sales@headlightrevolution.com
I was watching one of your earlier videos where you installed an S-V.4 in a 2003 Ram and said that bulb was one of the only options for a decent beam pattern yet here you do not seem to like the pattern. Is it a different bulb from the prior video to this one? Did they make some changes that do not make the S-V.4 a good option anymore? I am looking to upgrade my 2005, I know they are not great lights to begin with, believe me I know, and would like to find the best option. Thanks for the comparisons.
It is not that the V.4 is a bad bulb, the Ultra 2 is just an insanely bright bulb that produces a fantastic beam pattern. The V4 is still a fantastic option for your vehicle, and I would highly recomend the both of them!
I do like those headlights y’all have on the dodge, BUT what retrofit headlights would y’all recommend? I’m so sick of my bean pattern and I just drive my other vehicles at night because of it.
You’d have to retrofit them yourself, There really isn’t a premade set on the market that’s any good. Most of them use cheap projectors that don’t hold up over time.
if i am not happy with the old factory stock headlight assemblies on my 2004 dodge ram 3500 pickup, what upgrade do you recommend for the headlight assemblies to further improve the light beam pattern before and when I decide to upgrade to the GTR ultra 2 bulbs. Thank you.......Pete
I wish I could recommend those to you, but the laws have changed regarding HID and LED in a halogen applicaton. I can only recommend you halogen options now, and I have linked the bulbs I would recommend for you here: www.headlightrevolution.com/9007-Vision-X-Superwhite-Halogen-Bulbs_2?quantity=1 If you would like to discuss the offroad options we have for that vehicle, shoot us an email!
