    I knew this was going to be the case. WG refused to buff the ship line that people have been complaining about for months because they knew the captain was going to fix their main issues. Which will cause players to grind containers and hopefully pay WG more money for loot boxes to unlock the much needed captain. Classic Wargaming.

      Either buff the smoke firing penalty or buff the concealment...that would go a long way to make the ships better
      ....
      Venezia has worse concealment than the Conqueror and Thunderer FFS

      @@verde5738 SAP is fine vs DD's, DD's have so much going for them that this actually gives them a thing to fear... and right now unless theirs a CV spotting them DD"s are top dogs in games without needing to do much

    I must say, I find your videos very informative. The fact that you also explain how it affects the team, what it allows others to do, etc, has made me learn more from a few of your videos than from hundreds of, say, Jingles's 'cult of the lone unicum' videos.

      Well, to be fair, you are comparing basically an average joe + with a great sense of humor, focused on mostly entertainment and light infotainment, to a Unicum who has made his mission to teach other players to perform better. I watch a Jingles video with a complete differend mindset and focus than a Notser one.

      @@vecioalpin8998 ofc hes playing on NA ;), nah I love his vids but I tried that premium Tier 5 one with only 3 point commander and didnt know that the reload was so high...
      Got first place but it was horrible..20s is fucking stupid, I shot only from 2-3 line, at the End without dds in fronline with dogdy&dogde but very hard for me.

      @@vecioalpin8998 I'm talking about more than just this one video. Focusing DDs is kinda common sense, but other stuff that Notser's been talking about is not necessarily that obvious when you're new. And it's totally not obvious when you watch channels focused on replays where only the damage meter counts.
      As for which server, trust me, you find people applying... questionable tactics -- and better yet, berating everyone else for not doing dumb stuff, like charging into a cap point with a BB -- on all servers. The EU server too has more than enough people who, shall we say, have been prophecised in Luke: "Father forgive them, for they know not what they're doing." ;)

    Thx Notser! After I watched this vid, and i did what u said, kill the dds rather than farming dmg from bbs and it worked, I saved my team from losing :D

      Bait the enermy, keep moving and put the advanced rudder shift from tier 8+ you wan the enemy to be looking at you... keep moving and shake that arse! The more they shoot at you, the more your team survive.. call out the targets that are good at aiming for your team to focus... sail back in to support DD's and when the enemy focus... rinse and repaet with the kiting. use the smoke if it starts to get hot... never sail straight.... awayas wiggle... and between shots... look where and which ships are shooting at you.. ;)

    I seem to do far better than the traits would indicates with the Italian ships. I love smacking DDs with those spicy meatballs. It would be great if someday withe get to hear a new commander say: "Luigi, itza me, Mario" Great vid Caticus.

    I enjoy the Italian Cruisers for this very reason. I tended to focus DDs every game already, so these cruisers made punishing them all the easier.

    Currently playing the Brindisi (I refuse to FXP the Venezia because I'm enjoying the Brindisi so much), and I've had trouble getting the Main Battery hits. I've been a bit unlucky, but I haven't been outright targeting DDs like you have in this game. Might have to change my playstyle a bit.

    Notice once you kill the dd's your smoke fire penalty isn't an issue anymore for the most part. You can then farm damage from smoke when it makes sense.

    I did the math. The chances of unlocking Luigi with a certain amount of containers are:
    28 containers -> 96% (4 duplicates)
    25 containers -> 60% (3 duplicates)
    22 containers -> 20% (2 duplicates) (unsure of this number, cannot remember certainly)
    In any case, DO NOT EVER exchange any duplicate until you can exchange enough in one go to unlock it!!

      By the way, what I said before is crap.
      I am afraid WG is not making the distribution perfectly random but clearly skewed.
      At one point I had 8 out of the 16 required elements, well, it took a total of 10 more containers just to get 2 new non-duplicate collection elements... total bullshit as at that point the chances of getting a non duplicate element should have been 50% had the distribution been a perfectly random one.
      In the end I got the whole collection excanging 6 elements with 24 duplicated ones... which is way above the expected 3/4 to be obtained by exchanging...

    Notser congratulation. as we say in Italy "you have discovered the hot water". OFC killing DD increase the chance of winning. but do you need SAP to do it? wasn't HE good enough? and in Exchange for SAP why IT cruiser must give up DPM , Hidro , Concealment (one of the worst tier x tier)??
    This line is really BAD and I wish some CC will tell the truth.
    This video looks like a big advertise to buy premium containers.
    PS I don't blame WG for making mistake . Everyone does. What I wish is that it won't take a year to fix it.

      Completely agree with Antonio. Cruisers sucks for all the lacks we already know. Commander is hard to get unless you pay real money for him. Passives are not easy to activate for the majority of players. It may be easy for Notser and another 1% of player base (very goog players). The ship look decent once activated the 3 passives just because they make (in part) up for all her lacks.

      ALPHA agree, commander is only strong in hands of unicum players. Majority of players will never get 3 or even 2 skills activated.

      Antonio Barone yep, I go into battle and look at the opposing Haragumo, Worcester, DM, Smolensk, Bayard and think how evenly balanced the Italian cruisers are with their pew pew pew to the opposing dakkadakkadakkadakkadakkadakkadakka.
      The commander barely balances the eunuchness of the ships.
      Notser had an excellent game but still barely cracked 100k damage despite 4 kills and 140 shell hits. How good is that SAP damage. HE would have started fires and damaged modules.

    Focus on DD is valid for all ships, nothing revolutionary there...lets see how they operate in competitive gaming.
    The fact that your WR went up is related to MM, skills and you getting more comfy with the ship ;-)

    Hello there, I have been struggling to find the best build for my ibuki, it's not that important but it's quite difficult to choose between the range mod and the reload mod, the manuverbility or the councialment, fighter or scouting plane, things like that can affect the play style after all. I would like to know what you guys recommend for the main ibuki play style, spamming he from max range and such, not the flanking one (decent in the zao, if I finally get to it), keeping in mind that ibuki's shells are lazy, so why would you like that much range anyway if you're not gonna hit anything, that it's manuverbility is very good and councialment too, but you should always be shooting so why the councielment mod if you're going to be spotted all the time, the fighter plane gives information and helps the AA while the scouting gives range but has a huge cooldown, idk, kinda long but those are all my thoughts about it.
    My current one is fighter plane, range (because the reload makes only 1 sec shorter and makes the bad turret traverse even worse) and councialment (I have no Idea if the manuverbility is good enough and the councialment one dont make that big of a difference), thx you read this and hope someone can give me a answer :)

      Hi she a hard ship to do well in due to the armour you take so much damage so range is a smart move make use of island cover as much as possible to get free damage as the high explosive is very nice as it is on most of the line , I would still max out concealment as even 1km extra can make the difference from winning and losing if you are forced to cap or retreat aa is not a strong point on this ship and I would be reluctant to invest to much in to it as cvs are only an occasional problem I like having a spotter just to be able to smoke fire effectively, if you have the Yamamoto captain he is very useful on that line I use him on my zao good for turret traverse , I'm sure you probably already do this but be sure to speck for demo expert and put fire flag on as the fire chance is excellent. Oh and one last thing be patient this ship will do it's best to spoil your fun trust me it's not you its will be mostly the ship and rng! Most people free xp pass and I wouldn't blame you but just remember the zao is waiting at the end and she is brilliant

    That's how I've been playing mine... slaughter DD's first and then pick at the CA/CL's... If a stray BB shows a point blank broadside during the heat of battle, the torpedoes go out.

    I dunno, Zao is pretty damned good at Blapping DDs out of existence in 2 or 3 salvos as well, you just gotta aim properly is the only issue. Zao HE will also damage engine, rudder and many other components - which SAP does not damage currently. And of course, fires! If you can get a DD stuck on fire, you will basically have them spotted for that time.

    So I spent 2 hours in training to test it's citadel and pen potential on all the tech tree BB's. Gonna be a long post but it's good info. Also all my shots were made on perfectly straight targets to the midship armor belts. Once any angling is introduced the results get diminished heavily
    Montana:
    Midship/ Armor Belt: .7/.6 and under got easy citadels, .8-1.8 gets Pens, 2.0 and up are shatters.
    Nose: All Overpens
    Rear: Inner 1/4 pens and outer 3/4's all overpens
    Republique (This one's interesting):
    Midship: Lower half all failed with torp protection hits, total fail. Upper half got Pens 100%
    Nose and Rear: Inner half got pens, Outer half all Overpens
    GK (Another odd discovery as it is very well protected from SAP and I struggled to damage them once saturated)
    Midship: 4.5km and under I got Pens 100% of the time. Armor did nothing to stop it, very surprising
    Nose and Rear: Inner half got pens, Outer half all Overpens
    Conqueror:
    Midship: 2km and under got Citadels 100% of the time, super easy. 2-2.4km got pens. 2.5km and up got shatters
    Nose: 100% Overpens everytime
    Rear: Inner 1/3rd got pens. outer 2/3 got all Overpens
    Yammy:
    Midship: Lower half got shatters everytime no matter the range. Even at 0.2km I couldnt pen. The upper half got reliable pens at all ranges
    Nose: Inner 1/3rd got pens. outer 2/3 got all Overpens
    Rear: 100% Overpens everytime
    Kremlin:
    Midship: Lower half got shatters everytime no matter the range. The upper half got reliable pens. Sadly, this isn't recommended as the 2 armor halfs are super skinny so you'd pry be getting lots of shatters and overpens.
    Nose: Got overpens 100% everytime
    Rear: Inner half got pens and surprisingly broke it's steering everytime with a half salvo
    When it comes to SAP and where to shoot I highly suggest you go into the armor viewer for all the tech tree line BB's and find the armor layouts for Premiums. The stats in game say the total armor pen for SAP is 55mm so anything at or under that armor wise is where you'll want to put your shots.

    I like the line and feel it's really well balanced, if not a little weak situationally with no utility, some kind of enhanced spotting plane would be a cool niche. That being said, every high tier cruiser can take out DDs effectively, many with way more "features". This ship forces you to play smart if you want to be remotely effective, whereas a Smolensk can just make many a poor tactical or strategic decision and still keep being effective.

    Discussing balance and performance of Italian cruisers and the Commander seems pretty hilarious while watching an enemy Smolensk on screen. Has WG heard of this 'balance' concept?
    Kind of feel sorry for the enemy Venezia and Yammy who were stuck with a bunch of rear camping "who cares about winning" types and ended up having to try to do something largely on their own.

    I get that Notser is taking lemons and making lemonade. Couldn't you do the same thing; and maybe do it better, using a non-Italian tier 10 cruisers with a special captain? For example, put Admiral Halsey on the Des Moines (with the Legendary mod.) So when you play the Des Moines and you decide to concentrate on hunting enemy DD's, you have a cruiser with better maneuverability; though obviously not as fast, better armor, better concealment, much faster reload; which means your 9 guns firing every 5.5 seconds is more destructive than the Venezia's 15 guns firing every 20 or even 14 seconds, and radar to keep the enemy spotted when you close the distance. With Bull Halsey as the Des Moines captain you have rapid loader (75% faster switching ammo); so if an enemy cruiser gives you broadside you can still punish them with AP, and Master Marksmen so your turrets turn faster; which can be very useful keeping your guns focused on enemy DD's. Seeing as concentrating on damaging destroyers makes earning Confederate easier, that means when you activate Halsey's Hit Fast skill, your reload time goes down to 4.4 seconds. And that's without Adrenaline Rush making reloading even faster. On those rare occasions when you score a double kill, Halsey's Hit Hard skill improves your concealment by 10%.
    On the downside you don't have the potential range improvement of Captain Luigi and your normal gun range (or when using the legendary mod) is 1.3 km less than Venezia's normal range. This means you will playing closer to the enemy so that increases your danger. You also lack Captain Luigi's other nifty skills. Plus, you probably won't be knocking off 10k damage when you score hits on enemy DD's, and your gun velocity is much slower than the Italian cruiser, so you don't want to fire at enemy DD's at long range, it's just a waste of time. However, when you get within radar range and catch an enemy DD in their smoke, your first salvo can be quite destructive and it becomes more difficult for the DD to dodge your next shells at that range, and your salvos are coming in every 5.5 seconds or faster. (I would add the Radar module for extended radar times.) On top of that, you have phenomenal acceleration with the legendary mod which can help you get out of tricky situations, so that can mitigate some of the danger of closing the range. Finally, even if enemy DD's are playing passively or you're not getting good spotting on the enemy DD's, you can still farm enemy battleships with HE and punish cruisers and battleships giving you broadside with AP, and you can often do it from behind islands. This means you aren't tied to using one strategy to help your team win or always gun boating in the open.

      if you are caught by a Venezia on a DD with that horrendously bad concealment and no utility tools you missplayed very hard, just stay bow on and SAP will bounced off

      @@SauronRhun Bow-on tanking (or sailing directly away to minimize your target profile) Venezias with a DD is extra hilarious, especially after they get caught by your torpedoes because they don't have great rudder, no hydro and they want to show a lot of broadside to shoot all their guns. Some "DD hunter"... bollocks I say.

      @@Sombody123 she has a tiny turning circle for such a long cruiser and with the double rudder mod her rudder is 5.6, nothing crazy like Zao's 3.7 with the same double rudder but better than most other heavy cruisers like Hindenburg or Henry, her concealment with this set up goes to 13.4, which is in line with most heavy cruisers with the same set up, she's actually the fastest cruiser with a speed flag at 38.3 save for Henry with the speed boost active, and her base range of 17.1 is not that bad when you consider the likes of Des Moines and Zao start of at 15 odd, you add the range mod and get 19.9, she has decent armour and fast accurate shells, plus you can slap ships for 10+k with SAP.
      She's not a damage farmer, she's an Alpha strike ship like most of the IJN cruisers, she'll never get huge damage numbers because she can't set fires (while IJN are known for that) with her main battery, but if you need to ambush a ship you can use your smoke which again can be used both offensively and defensively, and last but not least she effectively has the second highest dpm of all T10 cruisers aside from des Moines.
      So she's a good ship just misunderstood by most.

    I like my non-legendary commander, Luigi Constantini. I also compare the Venezia more to Donskoi. Lots of superstructure on a long and low-profile hull. The armor also works... until it doesn't... and you die.

    I love the Italian cruisers. I play them like the Russian DDs, use the range mode in slot 6 to get the range up and allow the turrets to keep them moving fast. Always be going full speed and dodging in and out.

      It does pay off, yes the DPM is lower, but it helps keep you alive longer.

    I was so confident in this line... the premess where good but the result is just bad, even Venezia is too situational and lack of versatility... such a disappointment, at this point i hope the brits CA at least will be good.

    @Notser Mis-identifying the issue.
    The issue is: The italian cruiser becomes reasonably playable and a valid choice once you have the unique captain. NOT "the captain is too powerful."
    Yes Italian Cruisers does do good damage to Dd's. But existing lines already do that with higher ROF and resulting higher DPM. As for TX cruisers: the Mino is still better, the Smolensk is still better, The Colbert is better, The Worcester is still better. You worked all game to to kill 3 dd's that were, except for one, already badly damaged. Your team was working with you. Mino, Colbert, Smole and Worcester would annihilate those DD's if they came into range and be more more useful and do more damage over-all in the game.
    All you have identified is that the Italian cruisers are only good for sniping weak/weakened/distracted opponents and a waste of time if you haven't got a reasonably cooperative allied team to work with.

    So I evaluate taking shots at DDs but you cant ignore other targets. Notser, when ITA DDs come out, they will have SAP. They will slay DDs way better. They will spot them better and not need a DD to do it for them. What ITA CLs will be good at after is farming broadsides and supers with SAP for alpha damage. SAP to me feels a lot better than the pre release of ITA CAs, but it still needs to do a lot to other enemies. I think they need to be punishers for broadsides of other ships. Getting a ton of pens for multiple solid 10k strikes while the enemies have to nose in to others. They are AMAZING in crossfires that said post ITA DD, but they wont work with this roll after. The commander is ok. He isnt Kuznetzov, yamamoto, or halsey. All 3 are far better. I feel like his torp accel and other skills will be better on ITA DDs which sucks cause the shitter devs cant tune captains to be good for all ships. The FR is best for DDs like Luigi is. The issue with WG is niche to ship commanders. Only Kuznetzov really works well on Soviet ships. Halsey mainly works best on BBs if I am to be honest, but at least the US has the likes of the Doe Brothers to cover CA CL captains. Finally, I would say Yamamoto is best suited to BB as well. So where are the other commanders? Legendaries that aren't heads of navy, but still have perks boosts to suit ship types. I think Luigi will suit DDs better on release and this talk of these CLs being DD assassins outclassed at the same time. These ships require you to have a CV or DD to spot for you and require too much div play for that. Once your job is done, you just farm whatever you can but lacking fires you wont see 300k games. You will hover the 100ks and when you have a great game 200k ish. What these ships are is an identity crisis. If WG intended them as DD hunters, they would have hydros and radars (which historically the italians didnt have those or even FCRs so it cant fly do to muh immersion). What they get is crap range and AA, forcing you to pick between spotter and fighter, they get great maneuverability to dodge shells well and torp drift (if you see the torps before they are too close), you get sad torps so they could give sansonetti torp accel to 'compensate' for it instead of maybe vigilance so you can spot those torps and drift them without hydro or something else useful, and finally you get most ships that are still citadels with a lack in armor unlike Russians etc. These ships are an identity crisis and are by no means OP. Neither is Luigi. The range boost in most cases will be just over 1km which doesnt do much for you, the consumable cooldown wont do you too much since you will likely burn most of your stuff by the time you get it and after you burn your lack of smokes and 4 heals you will be left with spotters which have a long enough cooldown as is and are only used on targets out of range or to spot potential torps since you lack hydro. The only good thing is confederate triggering for that reload boost since that is easy enough to achieve, but compared to the others, he isn't even close to OP. He just makes ITA CAs more usable. If anything you should be ranting to WG that they are not that great even after what I feel like are some post release buffs. Hate to say it but these arent all that and when ITA DDs are out they will be much less than that.

    The armor on the T8 through T10 is actually super trolly. Angling is op in them. That’s the second strength I have found. Getting to them was a struggle though through the paper low tiers.

      I love the line so far.... different play style.. and nuking the HE spam festers is blissful without being called a HE scrub yourself ;) angle armor... lol what is that? 7+k damage shot :P great fun... practice kiting as I've adviced on other posts here.. this line of ship is awesome when you get the hang of it... I don't even have Luigi yet either... :P or tier 10 :/

    Once again Notser is fooling himself trying desperately to find a strength of the Italian Cruisers. Today on "Notser talks nonsense", he basically tells us that to do well in an Italian Cruiser, you should do... what you should already be doing no matter what cruiser you are in. Focusing the DDs. Except other Cruisers are more effective at it because while they might not be able to 2-3 shot the DDs, they can you know... radar them.
    There is nothing in this world an Italian Cruiser does better than any other ship except kill Destroyers. Except they only do that better than other ships, when they can spot the destroyer. Other ships do better at killing destroyers, because most other cruisers have radar. The Moskva will remain the King of DD killing simply because of radar paired with extreme shell velocity.
    And not only will all the other cruisers do better at killing DDs... but they'll then actually be effective when they turn to fight the rest of the enemy team.
    I feel like this needs a "Not bad, not bad. Now you." meme.

      I feel Venezia is a CB DD hunter... so taking that strat into random's isn't a bad idea to be said... not to mention both the NA and EU servers have terrible Cruiser players who just spam HE at BB's then BC's then CA's when their done farming

      with 15-20 second reload? I'd still pass. Hard pass, no less. Take a zao instead. Longer range, tighter groupings, has hydro, better detection, can start fires, ect ect.

    Right IT cruisers have to just avoid incoming damage to survive with little to 0 contribution to the game. Why is Venezia a fking shell magnet? Anybody offered a reward for shootin at her? Yes you can use her has anti DD. But with 17 Km range whenever you shoot all enemy BBs can shoot you. And get that awsome huge over the water citadel ship-wide like a big target reading shoot me. Even if you shoot from smoke you always have a DD within 10 km range to spot you -> smoke useless. It's a pity that WG treated IT cruiser this way. But here you have a receipe to fix them: -2 sec reload, -2 km concealment (especially for firing from smoke), +1 smoke charge, +10-20 sec smoke duration, -1 min smoke cool down. DONE VENEZIA FIXED. Don't forget the absurd AA at 4.5 km rather than 6 km and the short main gun range at 17 Km. And forget her for competitive unless she get a radar or a sonar. The other tiers could follow the same receipe proporcionally. This way smoke and SAP can be used as a real peculiarity of the IT game play. As always great job Notser finding the only thing that Venezia can do: shoot DDs. I am gonna try it right away. Of course will try to get the 3 talents to have a decent ship. Shhhh dont say OP to Luigi or they will nerf it. Notser you know you are in the top 1% of gamers who can get those passives? The great mass will see those passives once in a hundred games given they get the commander Luigi.

    Imagine, 14.3 second reload feeling FAST! Venezia needs to be buffed badly, and this commander needs to be nerfed badly! It is so STUPID! Venezia without Commander buffs = lackluster at BEST! Venezia with all commander buffs active = Pretty NICE Tier 10!
    Venezia should have around 15 second reload with the module, not 17.6 - that is Alaska territory. Also SAP should be able to damage AA mounts and modules like HE. There needs to be several tweaks to make this ship even worth considering. And that commander? OP BULLSHIT!

      Nah, they would be far too over powered then... so far with the Brindisi I've been finishing 1st and second evry game... If WG plan to nerf the SAP then year... give them hydro... Other lines I suck with... bu the play style of the Italians... I'm really enjoying them from tier 7+ and actively helping the team to win.

      You can do 10+k selvoes on BB super structure, even bow on if you aim properly, hence why the long reload because you're effectively doing supercuiser per salvo damage as a cruiser, the thing is though bb's won't fear pushing into you because you can't start fires, the only damage over time you can do to them is flooding if you hit a torpedo on them.

      From tier 8+ put the rudder shift upgrade on them... you want to kite away from the spawsn.. when the enemy miss you and giver up... sail back into to support your DD's and kite away... never sail straight and never slow down... use your smoke when you have enought targets shooting at you... call out the targets that have good aim on you using B and get them focused while they are smashing the mouse wissing there shots ;)

    Finally Notser understands farming doesn't equal high win rate necessarily, now hopefully he understands farming isn't so good for the team's out come overall. That derpitz video Noster did while he circled the same spot the entire match while talking about his team's performance, omg wtf seriously. There are people that play or try to play for the team and guess what, their individual stats suffer from it. It's a large portion of c.c. that spout stats and new players take it to heart. Creating new farmers, Essentially worsening the over all game play for all

    So you pick Venezia and the enemy team has only 1 DD who spawns on the far opposite side of the map...
    Also playing a ship that relies heavily on friendly DDs is just crippling with all these bad DD players.
    Furthermore the special commanders are completely without the special skills in competitive environment.
    Congrats for discovering the classic Zao playstyle, except Zao does it equally well or better.
    A good enemy DD player won't let themselves get caught pants down like these fools in the video. It's not really different from getting caught by Hinden, Zao, or whatever, except you don't have the tools (hydro and radar) to force that to happen.
