I have changed my prep with DVDs/CDs. I no longer polybag new DVDS/CDs or tape cds closed. At scale it just isnt feasible & Amazon doesnt like prep on items that do not require it. I do still check them for scratches and swap out broken cases etc.
Do you test the CDs / DVDs when using the JFJ? If it gives peace of mind that it works without having to test it at all I think I will buy it. dont want to be testing discs tbh
I haven't tested a single disc. I eye test them if deep scratches or a lot of light scratches I resurface. If it looks good no testing send it out. Don't overthink these types of things it can become a huge waste of time!!
Hey Mike, DO you still like your CD cleaner? I just got to get one. I have accumulated at lease two Amazon boxes of these CD and DVD. If there not mirror finish I want send them in. I got a Cosby complete season, sells for 86 bucks has one dics with light scratches. Tip, I will get on FB for Garage sells, Look through them till I get couple with books dvds or cds in the pictures. I will map these and take off. Seems to be the ones that I come across on my way to the ones I have mapped we'll have all the goodies. Just two fridays ago I come up on a yard sale we're a stack of books with was sticking out like a sore thumb. Always asked how much the books are before you pull your scanner out. The guy just said he'd take a dollar on the readers and up to $4 on some of the educational books. When I was done I was sure glad to give him forty bucks. From that one yard sale I walked away with $900 worth of books.
That's crazy $900 from a single yard sale!! I love my JFJ it still works great finally got through one of the buffer pads. Probably got me around 300 used out of that pad. Note: I only use the buffer pad I have not had to use anything else the buffer pad has taken every scratch out of every disc I have put in there. 2 minutes and it cleans em right up!!
I miss something here, what about the label, same label as book its so big for cds or dvds, thats why planning to use polybag for all, not for only new cds/dvds and according what u say list all in good condition, clarify for me. Thank you Mike.

List all used in Good condition that will save you tons of prep time. New gets listed as New with condition note New sealed in original packaging.

You can put anything and everything in the same box. I would not recommend polybagging them all together as warehouse may just assume it's a bundle pack. Also polybagging items that Amazon does not say to polybag will put your item into a longer check in que upon arrival as they handle polybagged items differently than normal items!!
No that would be impossible. Make sure there are no large scratches or deep scratches. If you do not have a resurfacer pass on CDs and DVDs that look bad.

I know this is an old video, but I'm curious what you do when you're labelling CDs or DVDs that come in those cardboard covers. I'm kinda worried that the FBA sticker is going to damage the case & piss the customer off. In that case would you polybag and just stick it on the outside...?
Mike, Sorry for another lame question, even though your videos are super informative. I'm using scanlister for books. If I want to include dvds in the same shipment is there another scanlister sub heading/setting that I should use or do I send it in under the same book setting? I sent you a super thanks. Thanks again, Doug.
Same setting the only thing you want to do is change your condition note for the DVDs. I use Disc is in working order and comes in original packaging. So since Scanlister saves the condition notes as you go do all the books in the box then all the DVDs so you do not have to keep switching the condition notes!!

Hey Mike - Great videos, thank you. How often do you find buyers leave negative feedback based on Amazon's crappy FBA packing and shipping methods? They ship everything in flimsy bubble mailers. I have always worried about sending in fragile CDs and DVDs for that reason, even sealed. I can imagine they often send out new products that arrive in just 'good' or 'acceptable' condition because they're all smashed and dented from terrible packing. And lastly, how generous are they with "striking through", and what's the process like for that? I never want to be responsible for their crap. Thanks so much for your time!
Appreciate the kind words!! If it's FBA the strike through is 100% in my experience and everyone else's. Amazon automatically assumes the blame and removes it. Also it is super easy to remove feedback like 3 clicks. I covered how to in a video I will link. 5 years of selling only 75 feedback total so it is nice to be able to remove the few negative ones I have had with ease!! th-cam.com/video/qRR1_Maww8c/w-d-xo.html

Mike I got two everybody love's Raymond dvds thay look brand new and no scratches. Can I sell em new without original seal? Should I wrap the dvds in bubble wrap?
Not new unless cellophane wrapped from manufacturer. You could sell Like New and ask for a premium if you want. I wouldn't wrap them unless they are on top of your box like I showed. If they are tucked in no worries. Don't risk selling as new unless it is actually new.
First try with Easy Pro went great. Here's what without doubt is a dumb question, as someone who has never owned a DVD player. If after I see that the disc is playing fine, and I just stop it where it is and take it out; then, is that the same spot the disc will start up again when the customer first starts it to playing (like old cassettes that haven't been rewound), or will it automatically start from the beginning when played in a different player?
Appreciate the content! I have a question. How do you prep a DVD or book boxset? Are there poly bags big enough? Do you stretch or shrink wrap it? Also do you put the FBA label inside or outside if you wrap them? Thanks!
New make sure you are taking the steps to check that is is a genuine new copy. People reseal items themselves. I also polybag the new items I send in regardless if Amazon asks me to or not. I have had not any issues yet!!
When you go to list? At this time, I am not using listing soft. I list directly on amazon. So where you have the choice to list , as new or used , if you determined it's new do you list as new?. Do you list as used/like new? And or possibly sometimes new , sometimes used . Depending on how confident you are that it's new. I hope I'm making my question clearer?
@@sickfool40 I understand as I also am an Amazon lister lol. List as New and undercut lowest price by a penny. I am either listing it as NEW because its sealed and looks legit or Used Good if it isnt sealed or the seal maybe is ripped and I didnt notice until I got home.
@@TheUsedBookGuy so how do you know if the sound is okay. I had a person ask me that last week on a DVD. I think I told them not test. I had no idea how to answer.
For the DVD box sets that are not in original cellophane wrap, do you still process them the way you do book sets? Make sure they are part of the set, and put a couple pieces of masking tape on it. With the cellophane wrapped ones do you just label it, or do you put the set sticker on them, so amazon knows not to seperate? Would I use the "This is a set, do not seperate" sticker in any of the above situations with Book / DVD sets? I just don't want Amazon to seperate the box sets
Process same way as book sets. Now if it $50+ dollars I will polybag to be safe. I never use those stickers you speak of and have had no issues. If ya got the stickers than mine as well use them!!
You don't worry about the CDs getting crushed from the carrier flipping the box upside down or on its side? I'm only curious because I am super anal about shipping books, I make the books fit like tetris, and leave only a little wiggle room on top. Have you made a boxing video on books before? I'm almost convinced I spend too much time with the boxing part
Just from reading this you are spending to much time reading books. Before CDs and DVDs I would pack the same way as in this video and put books on top instead of CDs and DVDs. I also put my labels on top so the box is less likely to get flipped over.
@@TheUsedBookGuy Yeah we had one of those resurfacers years ago (not that model) in our shop. It was great. However been wanting to get a new one. Thanks for showing that unit! What would you say is your usual split between DVDs and cds. I'm going to put in a cd order to get ungated. DVDs have been great so far, finding 100 every weekend
Hey Mike 👋 Love the videos Quick question, when listing new CDs, DVDs, Games, and Books that still have the manufacturers seal and wrap on them. Do you still price on the lowest FBA "used" offer, or do you price it as the "new" price? TIA 😊
Thank you so much for all your videos man! They are extremely helpful and can’t wait to get started in selling. Question for you, if the cellophane has a small rip/hole in it do you still sell it as new? ( I know you said if it has a huge rip across you won’t but what about a nickel size one lol) What if the actual DVD/CD has a small scratch, do you resurface it or just send it in if it works ? Thank you again I truly appreciate the help!
Appreciate the channel support. If the tear looks like it could easily spread I would be cautious as sending as New because the workers dont care about our stuff it gets tossed around. Small scratch depends how deep it looks etc. DEFINITELY do not resurface everything. If the scratch is around a CM long maybe resurface if its deep. Its a balancing act you will develop as you sell more and more discs!!

@@TheUsedBookGuy you da Bomb. Thanks . 😊
Do you play the DVDs to make sure the movie plays and sound is good?
No that isnt feasible. Eye test only!!
@@TheUsedBookGuy so how do you know if the sound is okay. I had a person ask me that last week on a DVD. I think I told them not test. I had no idea how to answer.
@@LLStacheLarry If selling on Amazon you are not required to answer ANY customer questions just hit no reply needed.
Love it thanks
@@TheUsedBookGuy I do that because of the horror stories I read that people's voices explode during shipment because of the slop in the box
Hi! I am ungated in dvds.. Thanks :) but quick question- are cds a different category? Do I have to do the whole thing all over for cds?
Depends I got ungated in both from DVDs others have to repeat the process for CDs just check and you will know! Glad it worked!!
Another good one, Mike! Have you tried resurfacing games with your resurfacing droid? 🤖
Not yet I am going through a Video Game drought send me some luck!! Thing makes DVDs and CDs real clean though!!
@@TheUsedBookGuy Yeah we had one of those resurfacers years ago (not that model) in our shop. It was great. However been wanting to get a new one. Thanks for showing that unit! And you need to get out to some yard sales, my guy! Hunt those video games down. May have to knock down some 7 (or 70) year-olds to get the good sruff. But ya gotta do what it takes. Video games are cut throat in these end times, lol! 🏴☠️🏴☠️
@@Mindmapinc Whatever it takes!!!
Are you labeling the dvds like you would books? i didnt see any? thanks
Yep same exact way over the UPC code.
What would you say is your usual split between DVDs and cds. I'm going to put in a cd order to get ungated. DVDs have been great so far, finding 100 every weekend
I would say 65% CDs 35% DVDs. DVDs definitely bring in higher profits.
@@TheUsedBookGuy cool cool, true. I'm seeing cds consistently cheaper than DVDs. Helps me round out profits so I don't have to get as many books
@@Hgxdx3 Yep having the 3 pronged attack is a game changer. Have seen my profits double since getting ungated in DVDs and CDs.
Hey Mike 👋
Love the videos
Quick question, when listing new CDs, DVDs, Games, and Books that still have the manufacturers seal and wrap on them. Do you still price on the lowest FBA "used" offer, or do you price it as the "new" price?
TIA 😊
Lowest New Offer FBA price
Thank you so much for all your videos man! They are extremely helpful and can’t wait to get started in selling.
Question for you, if the cellophane has a small rip/hole in it do you still sell it as new? ( I know you said if it has a huge rip across you won’t but what about a nickel size one lol)
What if the actual DVD/CD has a small scratch, do you resurface it or just send it in if it works ?
Thank you again I truly appreciate the help!
Appreciate the channel support. If the tear looks like it could easily spread I would be cautious as sending as New because the workers dont care about our stuff it gets tossed around. Small scratch depends how deep it looks etc. DEFINITELY do not resurface everything. If the scratch is around a CM long maybe resurface if its deep. Its a balancing act you will develop as you sell more and more discs!!
@@TheUsedBookGuy got it thank you man!
Another succesfull hunting Mike Mike, Im in love searching dvds, can be possible make more money than books, need to make another video about more deep in this topic. Thanks.....bye...bye
Definitely can be very profitable!!
Really do appreciate your channel. thanks . Question do you poly bag all your cds/dvds? Or . Well. When/why do you poly bag cds/dvds?
Appreciate the kind words!! If you ever need anything don't hesitate to reach out!!👊
Do you use stickers to seal shut all your CDs or just the ones where the case doesn’t shut well?
Ones that do not shut well. Also I found some clear stickers off Amazon that work better than the Avery labels.
@@TheUsedBookGuy What stickers do you use to seal them shut?
@@nathanielmaresh4773 I no longer seal the closed!
Best rank to buy dvd to sell on Amazon ?
Don't ever touch a DVD over 350,000. Anything under that is just personal preference on how long you are willing to wait for an item to sell.
Do you use Inventory Lab?
Funny you ask this week I will be doing my first shipment using Inventory Lab!! 😂
@@TheUsedBookGuy I have been using it for 6 months to send in books. Super easy. Lol.. I was going to ask you questions about listing dvds on it. I recently got ungated in dvds. Thank you for helping with that :)
@@emilygardner8842 No problem and once I get it up and running I will let you know of any tips!
Is the Easy Pro for both CD's and DVD's?
CDs DVDs Video Games takes care of them all Blu-Rays
@@TheUsedBookGuy Is there anything you have to buy over and over again to go with it, i.e. fluids of any kind?
@@GoldAndSilver988 There are two solutions that it comes with. 2 polishing compounds. They come with some. Also there are buffing pads. I have only had to use the 1 compound because they other one is for super deep scratches. You can substitute it with you own you can get for cheap. The buffer pads last awhile as well. I will keep track as I go but the polish yo use it sparingly.
@@TheUsedBookGuy This machine has a lot of bad reviews. Seems it works fine for a little while and then all kinds of problems begin. It'll be interesting to see how it goes with yours over the next few weeks. I did buy a nice DVD/Blue Ray/CD player today. Guess I'll test everything for now, but hold off on the Easy Pro until you've had yours a while. Also, there are some less expensive alternatives, but seems they all have a ton of bad reviews too.
@@GoldAndSilver988 Definitely will keep you posted!!
What sells better ? Books or media?
Hard to say so far. I have way more books than media in inventory. What I have noticed is that you definitely get more profit from fast moving media than books.
@@TheUsedBookGuy good to know! I'm excited to get approved!!!!
How can I get ungated in DVD 📀 and CD 💿?
Super easy to, here is a video explaining how to exactly do it!!

I'm wondering how I'm ever going to test DVD's since I haven't owned a TV in over 25 years, and never owned any kind of DVD player.
Well we need to get you like a little portable CD/DVD player one that has the little screen!!

Why don’t you just put the FBA label right on the cellophane?
You can and nowadays I do!! I still discard the cardboard covers for the dvds though!
@@TheUsedBookGuy do you just stick with dvd’s, cds etc. or have you gotten into purchasing wholesale goods?

Do have to be ungated in both cds and dvds or is it all in one? @TheUsedBookGuy
Some folks it ungates both others have to buy 10 CDs 10 DVDs so it's kind of hit or miss.
