hey man. dig your lighting vids. just got two 60 cm mirror balls, moters etc as part of a trade. ALEAYS wanted one and never seen them in real life and all I've gotta say is, although there are so many brilliant effect lights now, there is just something so special about a mirror ball. was gonna sell one but screw that, keeping both now. cheers man.
Excellent - long live the mirror ball! Tip: for those using DMX, try pointing scanners at the balls instead of pinspots, for a brighter effect and more creative options. Set up some presets on your DMX controller, and you can gently flood the room with any colour you like for slower songs. Also try letting the scanners "glance" over the mirror balls as they're flying around during up-tempo numbers. If the venue permits it, a little smoke/haze adds a LOT to this classic effect.
Nice vid. And yes those are still used a lot :) and they really make nice effect tho some people might get sick around those. My bro had one on his party and it was fun all those light bubbles going around and around and around the room.
I've decided on purchasing a 16" Disco Ball, but wondering if you could tell me what would be better, 2-15W Pinspots, or 1-40W Pinspot, or 2-40W, or would the 40W be too much? Lights will be mounted 6' to 8' on either side of the ball. Thank you for your time, John.
to mpt77, i think you will find that if you go into a shop in the uk and ask for a disco ball they will look at you a little stupid. Perhaps it's called a disco ball in other countries, in the uk it's a mirror ball due to it being coverd in small mirrors. thanks j
@FriendLondonFriend 2007 this is so old, LED pin spots had not been invented at this stage. . Video needs updating; re-doing in Summer when he doesn't have a cough. .
4:50 A 111 lamp is not a pin spot. 5.31 5:27 What was that? Was it the cat coughing up a fur ball? . You can't have noises like that on videos it is very rude and uncouth: vulgar. You didn't even excuse your self. . Good idea for the lamp placement, though. Let me know when you get an actual 3 Watt or 5 What LED pin spot. . . Cheers. from, del-boy.

You need a pin spot light. They minimize the overlighting in the background and shadow of ball.
I feel like I just discovered TH-cam History
