    Two critical pieces of information missing in this video, in my opinion, that might make a difference for you: 1) on left PV flap, leave the middle (guide plate) screw alone and you don't have to reset the Z dimension. It it will remain locked in its current setting. If you're happy with how your bike runs this is one less thing to worry about. 2) I had to put the exhaust flange on first before I could put the geared guideplates back on. When I tried to do it without the front exhaust flange on, the plates would not go on properly. They should almost drop in. My PV was so tight I could not move it till I did the exhaust flange first. Slavens Racing has a video that complements this one very well. Thanks to RMATV for these resources!

      So would that be to leave the centre Allen key one in situ ?

    • @williamdurr7792
      @williamdurr7792 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @crluke14 Yes, the middle one, correct. The slavens power valve video describes it.

      Thanks . Did this last night and it saved me the reset issue. Much appreciated

    Also, no need to put the o-rings in place until you are ready to put the exhaust flange back on. Thank you RMATVMC for the instructional videos. I have used them many times.

    So say you were to take apart your power valve and forget which gear plunger thingy goes on the left and which one goes on the right. ( Not that I would be careless enough to do such a thing of course) Does it actually make any difference which one goes where? They both look the same...

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Rusty, that's a great question that I didn't bring up in the video. On these models the left side (if sitting on the bike) plunger/gear will have a "L" stamped into the outside. The rights side will be blank. Hope this helps!! -Chance

    Can you make a video of the 2019-2020 power valve z adjustment. The newer power valve does not have a stop arm. Instead it has a screw and a jam nut.

      you can use a set of calipers. spec is in the owner's manual.

    Nice work. I wonder how much different the process is for a Beta 300 is?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      klxklr, the KTM 300 and Beta 300 motor are very similar. This video should help for the majority of your rebuild, but I would definitely check with the Manufacture to get specific details, torque specs and procedures to verify it's done correct. - Chance

    When deciding between a 23 300XC or 350 XCF, what are the maintenance differences between the two? Besides oil changes, is there one that’s more difficult to work on or maintain properly? Thanks

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most people find two strokes easier to maintain. The top ends are a little easier and no oil filter to swap. I would base it on what you are going to ride over maintenance. If you're doing mostly hard enduro, 300 for sure. If you're riding a good mix of everything, the 350 will be awesome! -Charles

    Do you have any tips or tricks on how to get the flange off? Mine is very very stuck on and I dont wanna hit it any harder than I already am. It hasnt even budged. And yes I did remove the 4 allan bolts before. Are there others that werent mentioned in the video? Thanks

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only things holding the flange on are the 4 bolts that you mentioned you removed and some silicone. Does it look like there is a lot of carbon buildup that's maybe making it stick?

    • @Feragho9
      @Feragho9 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rmatvmc The power valve flap looks a bit gummed up hence why I want to get to it so thats perhaps why its stuck. Would heat or some sort of homemade tool help to get it off?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can definitely try penetrating oil or some heat and tapping around the flange. Also, if you aren't already using a synthetic premix (something like Maxima K-2) that will really help reduce that kind of build up in the future.

    Are you using the Belray waterproof grease for the power valve reassembly? I’ve never been sure if it is appropriate for such applications. Thanks! Love the videos.

    Are the Tusk parts any better quality these days? Last time I used one of their clutch levers and a clutch pack (5 years ago) it was sort of horrible... I only ask since I see RMATV pushes them pretty hard. Nice video.

    do you have to do the exhaust value ? like everytime you do a top end?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's definitely safer to check it out and clean any carbon deposits or anything like that. You wouldn't want to do all that work just to put it back together and wonder if you should've cleaned it up better.
      Thanks for watching!

    Hi,
    Great video!
    Got a question regarding the boost port valves.
    Is it normal that they don’t work the same on both sides?
    Or did i do something wrong when reassembling it?
    Made a video:
    th-cam.com/video/8il_QqMGuQE/w-d-xo.html
    One is open when flap is open, but one not.
    Thanks for help!
