    I just whipped this up today and oh my goodness what a HIT with the family! Even shared a few slices with the neighborhood. My 82 year-old neighbor was so impressed. It is dense yet not doughy, and the blackberry curd just takes it over the top and adds that beautiful tart balance. I also used homemade cake strips and the cakes came out just like you've described-perfectly even and super moist. This has been stored away in my cookbook. Thank you so very much for sharing! 💚

    For the first time in my thirty four years I like lemon in my cake. Absolutely amazing! One of the best parts was I had everything so this was a full pantry and fridge bake. Kids also loved it and where able to help make it.

    Made this today and it is BEAUTIFUL! So delicious! My only suggestion is if you want to taste more of the lemon, add some lemon juice to the frosting . I am loving this cake

    Omg I am in love!! The reverse cake method is incredible I used it to make this cake but with oranges. And swiss meringe butter. Cream and a spicy caramel butter cream mini cupcakes!!! Major game changer!

    Hi, your cakes are very tasty. I tried two to bake and they are amazing. If you ant to get a colour from your berries, cook them until the6 disintegrate and strain them afterwards.
    I apologies if your already know this. You probably do, but this is my little THANK YOU to you for posting these beautiful cake recipes here.

    I have been binge watching your videos for the last day and I love it! I'm on a big baking kick at the moment so who knows which of your recipes I'm going to go with first. Perhaps this one or the Royal Wedding one. Both are fantastic for the hot summer. Also I think I'm addicted to your channel because you remind me a bit of Alton Brown. Especially your "mix on low". Something about that made me really smile.

      This is just information about blackberry grow on torn cover canes ,in clusters. They can get 10/12 feet high,but not tree. If your tree has black like berries it may be a mulberry tree. If take a branch with berries on to local horticulture office they should be able free of charge let you know. Or local garden center. I enjoy all the different types just want you have correct enjoy baking with them

  • @miaschu8175
    @miaschu8175 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    When you combine the flour and butter to make something resembling breadcrumbs, it's called rubbing in. It's exactly what you do when making pastry. Making a cake this way is called the rubbing in method.

    • @miaschu8175
      @miaschu8175 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rubbing in method is great when you make cakes with fruit in. Add the raisins (lightly coated in flour), or whatever fruit, to the flour and butter "breadcrumbs" and sugar, then add the wet ingredients. This method helps the fruit to be distributed throughout the cake.

    Hi! Love your channel. I tried this cake twice. Unfortunately the cake is not rising and the result is a very dense cake. I have been very precise in the quantity and temperature of the oven. One thing to note is that I don't have a stand mixer and use a hand mixer instead. Could this be the problem? Should I use more baking powder?

    • @mikeherring9231
      @mikeherring9231 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same here. Novice baker, so there's any number of things I might be doing wrong, but three tries and no rise. Weighing all ingredients. Tried in 2 different ovens. I watched the video again to make sure I didn't mistake 1 heaping tsp baking powder for 1 heaping tbsp. The curd and buttercream came out great, though.

      Watermelon and mint is always refreshing, a couple of years back when I was tasting wedding cakes in a small town in GA. One particular cake had watermelon, mint, and I want to say lemon. Its was different, but tasty.
