Whoever did the sound effects for this scene has done a brilliant job. - Almost the entire sequence was done with no BGM which make it intense. - You can hear that a beast is approaching batman by the weight of the footsteps while batman's footsteps are almost silent. - Even with the punches you can hear that at first batman's punches are light while bane's punches and kicks have a heavy sound. - As the fight progresses batman realizes that his punches are not doing any damage to Bane, so he goes harder. you can hear that when he is hitting Bane's chest as hard as he can while bane is still unphased by his punches. - When batman shuts off the light you actually also stop hearing the waterfall noise from the background making it eerie. What a masterpiece of a scene.
That's amazing I love when people point out stuff I didn't notice like the water fall sound in this moment is the only ambient sound besides them and then the way he slithers that delivery of a line in the dark and quiet it is very eerie
“You think darkness is your ally. You've merely adapted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see the light until I was a man and by then it was only blinding.” Best quote of the movie
@@vonnxvilluminati908 bruh that follow up quote gave me chills. That’s such a dark statement he says to a man that is known for putting fear in scary men’s hearts.
3:00 I don't know why, but I find most bone chilling is that every punch Bane landed on Batman's mask cracked it more and more. And then to rip half of it off just like that at the end of the fight.
When Batman started to yell during the fight, that $hit legit broke me. He never made a sound during othet fights and he was already yelling from frustration and exertion. Damn. 😢
When Bane delivered that line "I didn't see the light until I was already a man but by then it was nothing but BLINDING" Elbowed tf outta Batman, making him fall. Those little gasps Batman made bc he was helpless, Then beat the shit out of his head made me so sick to my stomach to see him like that in the theaters.
How many times does Bruce punch Bane square in the face here, just like in the finale - when Bruce “discovers” Bane’s weakness? Plot hole. I’ve come to appreciate these fights more over time. Bruce dismissed and underestimated Bane, to his detriment.
@@Snorlaxiian Oh yeah? It was “tamer?” You really chugged the Kool-Aid. I’m glad someone appointed you to the position of “Expert.” foh Don’t waste my time again.
The scariest part was seeing Bane toy with Batman. Bane took punches to let Batman wear himself out. Then shut down the punches when he wanted. He taunted Batman constantly. He was in control the whole time. That level of planning, understanding his opponent and confidence is terrifying.
Like when Bane says he is there to fullfill Ra's destiny, Batman loses control and tries to get angry but Bane did keep pushing his buttons and get him off balacne
Those weren’t the same punches. Bruce was stronger and more sure of himself than he was here. That’s the point of the Pit. We see Bruce do exercise and improve his fitness in the time he was there. The Batman we see in the end is a far cry from this broken old man we see here
I love that short pause Bane makes after Bruce tells him he was "excommunicated by a gang of psychopaths." It's like it took him a moment to process, _"What did this motherfucker just say to me?"_
Looked more like a tool that shoots off little explosions to distract people. As Bane says, it's a good tool against unsuspecting targets, but they're already engaged in a fight, so using a gadget like that now is just silly.
@@jenki221 Big difference. Bane was very polite in how he said it. You'll learn in life that how you say things can mean the difference between getting a promotion and getting fired.
He was though. Of course it won't work while you had already been discovered and losing a fight. Oh I'm supposed to be frightened that you threw poppers at me then turned out the lights?
“Peace has cost you your strength. Victory has defeated you.” You have to love this quote from Bane. Here, he tells Batman that it wasn’t a villain who defeated him, but his own success. How crushing is that? Even in victory, Bane says that Batman still loses. It brings to mind an old Bill Gates quote from Pirates of Silicon Valley: “Success is a menace, it tricks smart people into thinking they can’t lose."
The lack of music in this fight is haunting. You don't just hear every blow, you feel them as well. You feel Bruce's desperation. You feel his unwavering zeal. And you feel his heart break when he's lost. Amazing, amazing scene in a great movie
The sound design is great! There's certain moments when ambient noise drops. My favourite part is when batman gets back up, there's the rushing water in the background, but as he charges towards Bane the ambient sound (rushing water) intensifies and abruptly drops when Bane blocks his punch and starts pummeling him. 😍
@@Cross-CutFilms i believe the entire time he wanted to die while its true selina betrayed him i could tell what he really wanted just as alfred said your afraid because you want to

As a big time UFC fan, I give credit to the writer of this fight scene. 1. Bane has a steel chin. He took some heavy punches from the Batman in the beginning to weather the early storm. 2. Bane is about 10 pounds heavier but he is faster than Batman. 3. He kicked him in the stomach on stairs. Then ducked under right hook and punched his body. A left hook to body while coming down the stairs followed by 2 more left hooks to the body. The body shots really gassed out Batman. Batman took him down and tried some ground and pound. But Bane was again too strong. He threw him and got back up. He punched him again in the stomach followed by 5 big right hands to the head. These body shots remind me of Stipe Miocic second fight against Cormier. Stipe's left hooks to the body did the job for him.

I'm glad other people noticed that. The complete lack of soundtrack highlights the cold brutality of the fight. No glamour, no epic chorus, just Batman being systematically destroyed. This was a brilliant choice. Nolan is a sorcerer.
Notice how throughout the trilogy Batman nearly never makes a sound when he fights, but he's full-on groaning and grunting loudly in anger, he's lost his discipline, that's the last thing you want your enemies see.
Donnie Castro I knew it was over when Catwoman locked the cage behind him. The realization that he wasn't just looking for Bane...Bane's been looking for him. But you're right...that cry of desperation really showed that Batman wasn't ready for this fight!
Bane forced him to raise his game to another level. His "Spirit" as bane would say was always there but he needed more then that to defeat Bane. Once he broke out of the hell hole he was on a mission to defend Gotham and end Bane.
Notice when Bane said " I didn't see the light until i was already a man" hinted already that he wasn't the child who escaped the pit. Its amazing how we got caught in the action and suspense of his words and the environment that we fail to realize that hint in plain sight.
Every nuance of this scene was so perfect, even how the cape catches Batman right before he sets down. Funny, Bane admits that Bruce is stronger than he is, but has 'lost it'.
First of all, you got the quote wrong. Second of all, anybody that lives their life "fighting" doesn't waste time trying to get applause for it on youtube. Sorry, kid.
What I love about this scene, is that Batman’s shouts and his grunts are in Bruce Wayne’s voice. It’s one of the only times in the trilogy that Bruce Wayne and Batman feel like the same person
Bane punted him straight in the ribs, even through his suit, a kick to the ribs from a guy like that is gonna fucking hurt. He probably cracked a couple of Bruce's ribs there.
he was completely outmatched and never had a chance. bane casually took him apart. he even walked into Batman's heaviest hits just to show him that he has nothing and is completely powerless. he could of finished him at anytime and only chose to completely smash him when he revealed his actual plan to him just to torture his soul. its fucking brutal and awesome.
@@nepntzerZer he could’ve defeated bane, bane’s mask was supplying him anesthesia so he was numb to pain. The only way to defeat him was to break his mask, but he was protecting his face. Once his mask was broken Batman easily defeated him.

Fun Fact: Tom Hardy, who plays Bane here, said the most difficult scenes for him were the fights between Bane and Batman. Not because of the physical strain, but because he felt like he was beating his childhood hero. Funny.
1:52 “Us? You were excommunicated by a gang of psychopaths.” Bane’s pause to that retort from Batman showed that was one of the only good shots he got in this fight. Bane was resentful that Batman refused what he has sought from Ra's al Ghul…

@@benjaminbethel5640 Me too. Joker has his own origin movie that was released in 2019. If there's ever gonna be another origin movie, I would really love Bane to do the honors.
I'll be honest, Heath Ledger's Joker was the best part of this trilogy. But I will admit that Bane was the best choice of villain to follow the Joker and Tom Hardy was the best choice of actor to play the part.
Tom Hardy as Bane has the exact same quality as Heath Ledger as the Joker where not only are they incredibly into their roles and having fun with them, but every line they have is quotable from start to finish. Both Ledger and Hardy are equally awesome actors and the fact that Ledger is gone is a fucking shame.

@@billclark5055 nope. Batman Begins actually went into the characters' personalities really well and really fleshed out Bruce Wayne's journey the best out of all the live action batman films. @@gamemediafan1714 I could have done without her. Bane should have been enemy number one for the whole movie. And the biggest plot hole of all: Where was the pit that the broken Batman was left in, and how did he get back to Gotham? Or was the pit in the outskirts of Gotham the whole time?

What's truly great about Hardy's Bane it's the fact that he never, never sounds like preachy, nor amused, nothing. He kind of sounds just flat, detached, as a man who went beyond life and death already, and then came back just to fulfil his own destiny. Classic.
Bruce knew he was screwed once Bane started walking toward him. Batman's whole thing is intimidation, and once Bane strolled confidently in his direction, his adrenaline was already pumping.
"you were ex-communicated by a group of psychopaths" Bane- (thinking very hard about it) it sounds about right but you still gonna have to catch these hands
Joker's character overshadowed Bane's. But that certainely doesn't mean Bane's character was boring or something in TDKR. On a scale of 10, If Joker gets 9.5, then I would give bane 9 (not much difference)
i dont agree. Batman wouldn't have been formidable to bane until he sounded his resolve and was able to escape his own trauma represented in the prison. Bane wouldve been able to beat batman in all the movies because he literally was stronger physically and spiritually.
@@holyscrotum2437 The trauma Bruce was going through in TDKR was a cumulation of years of mourning. In TDK, Bruce was still at the top of his game even after Rachel's immediate death and wasn't crippled until the end of the movie. And he was fighting the Joker, too. The Joker wasn't as spiritually strong as Bane, rather he was as mentally strong as Bruce was

The scariest part was seeing Bane toy with Batman. Bane took punches to let Batman wear himself out. Then shut down the punches when he wanted. He taunted Batman constantly. He was in control the whole time. That level of planning, understanding his opponent and confidence is terrifying.
Was just thinking this - @02:16 when Batman hits his mask he immediately reacts since that had annoyed him.
I agree
Like when Bane says he is there to fullfill Ra's destiny, Batman loses control and tries to get angry but Bane did keep pushing his buttons and get him off balacne
Martin Axe the same punches that conveniently broke his mask in the end fight
Those weren’t the same punches. Bruce was stronger and more sure of himself than he was here. That’s the point of the Pit. We see Bruce do exercise and improve his fitness in the time he was there. The Batman we see in the end is a far cry from this broken old man we see here

The sound design is great! There's certain moments when ambient noise drops. This quote applies so well to the recent Joshua vs Ruiz 2 boxing fight.
Shannon he’s become conceited into thinking that he is strong
Stop yapping😂😂, I promise u they were just showing bane was stronger than Batman at that point😭

True. You can hear Bruce's pain at 1:15. First time he's been fully vulnerable in a fight and it makes him sound truly scared.
Probably because he wasn't Batman as he hadn't been training.

@@damonestephens8722 they're supposedly around the same age, batman has just been "retired" aka when Bane told Bruce that peace had cost him his strength and that victory had defeated him
What happened when Bane played baseball?
He broke the Bat.

9/10. bretty guud.
lol you wrong (yet right?) for dat one
Riddler, write this one down in your book
>>Catwoman: I had to find a way to stop them from trying to kill me.
>>Batman: You've made a serious mistake.
>>Bane: Not as serious as yours, I fear.
>>Batman: Bane.
>>Bane: Let’s not stand on ceremony here, Mr. Wayne. Peace has cost you your strength! Victory has defeated you! Theatricality and deception are powerful agents to the uninitiated... but we are initiated, aren't we, Bruce? Members of the League of Shadows! And you betrayed us!
>>Batman: Us? You were excommunicated... by a gang of psychopaths!
>>Bane: I AM the League of Shadows, and I'm here to fulfill Ra's al Ghul's destiny! You fight like a younger man, with nothing held back. Admirable but mistaken. Oh, you think darkness is your ally. But you merely adopted the dark; I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but BLINDING! The shadows betray you, because they belong to me! I will show you where I have made my home while preparing to bring justice. Then I will break you. Your precious armory, gratefully accepted! We will need it. Ah, yes... I was wondering what would break first... Your spirit, or your body?
0:32 Batman knew he fucked up when the first thing bane did was punch him with his own damn fist.
😂
When the older sibling starts giving you the old "why you hitting yourself?"
Because he didn’t focus on strategy and just went with brute force. Whereas in the second fight, he used strategy, focusing on disabling Bane’s venom pumps.
I would have ran away after that shit. 🏃♂️
@@amuroray9115 you would be trapped.
so many people seem to hate Tom Hardy's Bane.
this is the perfect Bane in my eyes. big, menacing, brute and an intimidating behemoth.
Tom Hardy absolutely slayed this role. such an underrated actor, such an underrated movie.
thank you Christopher Nolan, for blessing us with, in my opinion, the best trilogy ever.
How can this be the perfect Bane to you when he's really the only Bane that has been on screen with decent writing? The Bane from Batman & Robin doesn't even count considering he was barely in the movie and didn't even have a speaking role.
Anal Biscuit nothing, i repeat NOTHING beats LoTR
Anal Biscuit Amen. Best trilogy ever.
Nero MK lord of the rings is the gayest trilogy ever . It makes you want to fall asleep
Tom Hardy is hardly underrated, he has a big fan following and gets big roles

@@arcticangel1628 I disagree. In this fight, we see Bane grab Bruce's fist and effortlessly make him smack his own face. In the second fight when he does that, Bane is clearly giving everything he has, and Batman is able to hold him off to a draw.
@@wusscake You know that clicking sound you hear in the second whenever Batman punches Bane? Did you ever hear that sound in the first fight? Doesn’t that tell you something?
@@wusscake Second, the Batman who escaped is not the same man who got his back broken; he embraced fear in the second fight as opposed to welcoming death in the first fight.
@@arcticangel1628 In that scene Bane didn't taunt Batman, by aknowledging that he has gone soft over the years. This specific quote is just Bane something nice about this weakened version of Batman. Bane wanted to fight Batman at his best like in the 1st movie with Ras but never had the chance.
No phones, just two dudes living in the moment. Beautiful.
His performance as Bane is wildly underrated! Let’s be honest, we all feared for Batman in this movie!
Tom Hardy is great actor that's why.
What's truly great about Hardy's Bane it's the fact that he never, never sounds like preachy, nor amused, nothing. He kind of sounds just flat, detached, as a man who went beyond life and death already, and then came back just to fulfil his own destiny. Classic.
I hate batman wished he died
He is not underrated. Most fans and critics have praised his performance for ten years.
Truthfully I was rooting for Bane.
Bruce knew he was screwed once Bane started walking toward him. Batman's whole thing is intimidation, and once Bane strolled confidently in his direction, his adrenaline was already pumping.
Batman prey on the superstitious and cowardly, Bane was neither of those

closer20jc never thought of it like that. That’s so true.

"you were ex-communicated by a group of psychopaths"

I don’t care what people think. Bane’s voice is badass
11alexh11 im with you
Joker's character overshadowed Bane's. But that certainely doesn't mean Bane's character was boring or something in TDKR.
On a scale of 10, If Joker gets 9.5, then I would give bane 9
(not much difference)
The filmmakers didn't care either apparently.
11alexh11
I think it sounds stupid
I don't think anyone will disagree with you there
"Victory has cost you your strength"
- Even Bane acknowledges how formidable Batman would've been back in the day
i dont agree. Batman wouldn't have been formidable to bane until he sounded his resolve and was able to escape his own trauma represented in the prison. Bane wouldve been able to beat batman in all the movies because he literally was stronger physically and spiritually.
like bane was pretty much super similiar to batman but better and this fight embodies that, until batman does what bane couldnt.
@@holyscrotum2437 The trauma Bruce was going through in TDKR was a cumulation of years of mourning. In TDK, Bruce was still at the top of his game even after Rachel's immediate death and wasn't crippled until the end of the movie. And he was fighting the Joker, too. The Joker wasn't as spiritually strong as Bane, rather he was as mentally strong as Bruce was
That's actually similar to the Knightfall storyline...
@@obi-wankenobi7899 This movie was inspired by that comic and the 1986 Frank Miller novel.
