      Make sure to do the version of "Wind of Change that has the guitar solo, there is concert version where they skip the sole towards the end, no clue why, it is the best part of the song, it is in the music video!

    I was just 16 years old when I first heard this song. I always considered it the most beautiful ballad in the history of music. She accompanied me in my teenage sorrows and I still listen to her at 56 years old🎵🎼

    Klaus Meine at 75 still has his vocals. Guitarist, Rudy Schenker at 75 still rocks. Scorpions started out in 1965 and still rocking today.

    Holiday, Winds of Change, The Zoo, Rock You Like a Hurricane, No One Like You - all great songs. Many others, their rabbit hole is deep. Also, the lead guitarist for them was Rudolf Schenker. His brother Michael was in a band called MSG. They have several amazing songs as well. Most notably When I'm Gone, What Happens To Me, Never Ending Nightmare and Anytime.

    This ballad is off of their 1984 album titled, "Love At First Sting". They've been around since the 1960s and had several lead guitarists, Uli John Roth, Michael Schenker, and here in this single, Rudolph Schenker, with Mattias Jabs on rythmn guitar, Francis Bukholtz on bass, and finally Herman Rarebell on Drums. "Another Piece of Meat", "Blackout", "Rock You Like a Hurricane" and the Iconic end of the Cold War anthem, "Winds of Change" are all worth a listen along with many others. They ruled in the 80s in the U.S.

    Klaus Mein is just brilliant. For me, he's the German Freddie Mercury. His tone is superb. His pitch is great. His voice doesn't thin out when he goes high. He sounds just as good live as he does in the studio recordings. Very few singers can pull that off. He's one of them.

      Absolutely agree. Klaus Meine can hold his own against a Mercury or Dio. Incredible voice. One of the best rock vocalists ever. They've just put up a 1978 live recording of In Trance yesterday on their channel. Dammit, that voice. That song is my top favourite from them, together with We'll burn the Sky. I mean, yeah, Still Loving You and Wind of Change - fantastic songs. But not their best by far.

    Scorpions are Germany's longest-running rock band ever... Originally formed in 1965 by Rudolf Schenker (guitar) as a Sixties 'beat rock' combo that was heavily influenced by The Beatles... before getting into other 60's acts like Cream, Jimi Hendrix and The Who. Rudolf did vocals originally, and he became friends w/ Klaus Meine (vocals) who sang in another band and even recommended his teen brother Michael Schenker (lead guitar) for Klaus' band... But after the band broke up, both Klaus and Michael Schenker joined the Scorpions around 1970 and wrote English songs in the style of early 70's psychedelic rock... That became their 1972 debut album 'Lonesome crow'.
    Michael Schenker left the Scorpions in 1973 to join UK rockers U.F.O. and became an iconic guitarist... Klaus and Rudolf reformed Scorpions in 1974 w/ Ulrich Roth (later Uli Jon Roth on lead guitar) and Francis Buccholz (bass) and the band recorded a string of albums in the 70's as they developed a hard rock sound, but could not tour outside Europe. After Herman Rarebell (drums) joined in 1977, Scorpions toured Japan for the first time in 1978 and were ready to conquer the world. However, Ulrich Roth left in 1978... Michael Schenker returned briefly, but quit again... Finally, Matthias Jabs (lead guitar) joined and became a permanent member.
    Michael Schenker formed his own band M.S.G. (Michael Schenker Group) in the 80's and had some success... He tours consistently nowadays.
    In 1979, Scorpions released the album 'Lovedrive' and toured N. America for the first time and scored a gold selling record... Scorpions took advantage of MTV in 1982 and had a multi-platinum record in 1984 - 'Love at first sting' and were an international sensation by 1985. They actually played the USSR in 1988 and returned to play Moscow in 1989... Their 1990 album 'Crazy world' was another hit w/ the ballad 'Wind of change' becoming a worldwide hit single capturing the changes coming to Europe w/ the fall of Communism.
    The Nineties decade saw Scorpions decline in popularity as their brand of hard rock was no longer 'hip' in the grunge rock era... Francis Buccholz (bass) left in 1992... Herman Rarebell (drums) left in 1995.... By 1996, Scorpions persisted in touring w/ James Kottak (drums) and Ralph Rieckermann (bass) ... In 2004, Pawel Maciwoda (bass) joined and Scorpions slowly built up their popularity by 2010. They hoped to end their career by 2014 after a 'farewell tour'... but the fans kept demanding they stay. So, Scorpions released more new music and announced more tours.
    In 2016, Mikkey Dee (drums) From Motorhead replaced Kottak and Scorpions were back touring arenas... their latest album was 'Rock believer' in 2022.

Four bands on the ticket that night it was Canadian rockers Helix, Kick Axe, Quiet Riot and the headliners Scorpions a ticket was under 30 bucks then. We as teenage kids with part time jobs could afford to go to a lot concerts back then.

    A great Scorpions ballad. Unfortunately, like most reactors I've seen do this song, you played a truncated version of this song. The full song is almost 6 and a half minutes long.

    • @davidcollins897
      @davidcollins897 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      So demoralizing. I looked at the song length and almost didn't even watch. Same thing happens with other reactors a lot with Sultans of Swing and Comfortably Numb. Not their fault though, even the Scorpions own channel has mostly only truncated versions that I've found. The only untruncated official version of SLY I've found is th-cam.com/video/O5Kw41JAfG4/w-d-xo.html but it's much more recent and simply not as well produced or as well performed as the original album release.

    • @lucasnavajas4166
      @lucasnavajas4166 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yeah, many times they check what version is the best to play but I guess not this time since they picked the one that was minutes shorter than the original album version, reactors always mess up on foghat- slow ride, manfred manns blinded by the light or Styx- come sail away just to name a few

    This is the "video edit" of the studio recording (full version is about 6½ mins).
    Check out the 2011 re-recording, which comes in two versions ; a regular remake and a duet version with Amandine Bourgeois and sung with "Frenglish" lyrics.
    The best though is the song's "sequel" called SLY (acronym for Still Loving You) from 2010.
    Where the original was about the falling out and reconciliation between lovers, the sequel is about a similar conflict between parent and child (the offspring of the aforementioned lovers) - both songs proving that love is complicated and takes work.

    Greetings.
    One thing I've learned growing up in the 80s is that you don't have to hit an A6 or a G5 to create emotion in a song. As long as the words make sense and make the bulb bloom into that flower of emotion, you will feel every word that is being sung.
    And to boot, 70s, 80s, and early 90s music were so expressive lyrically. It's like....
    There was no simpler way of telling people how you felt. 80s ballads were the go to material for expressing your feelings to someone. As cheesy as that sounds today, only the "poets" of the 80s came up with the best words, and there were words for every emotion.
    Thank you for the video, reaction and comments. Stay safe and stay blessed.

    I grew up with all this music. There was no such thing as a teacher to sing metal or rock. Most of these guys that were schooled for it were all classically trained. The reasons there voices were all so amazing is that they were trained in so many other genre's then found a way to transfer that into thier own style.

    Great song and band, this was a huge hit for them and part of the era that made them superstars. I have been a fan from the beginning, with their debut album Lonesome Crow way back in 1970. Klause Meine singer and the Schenker Brothers, Rudolf and Michael, guitar phenoms, started the band, the former 2 are still in the band. Michael left to join another awesome band you need to hear, UFO and helped make them stars. The Scorpions then got Uli Jon Roth for lead guitar and produced a few hard rocking albums in the 70s until he left and their current lead guitar #1 is Mattias Jabs, who integrated quickly in the band and the produced a series of kill albums, starting with Lovedrive and through the 80s. Phenomenal band, one of the best hard rock/metal hybrids you will ever hear try The Zoo for some more evidence of their musical prowess. That song kicks butt, but is catchy as hell with one of the best hooks ever. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶

    They were really good live! Klauss Miner and the whole band were on point. What a fun concert. Back then everybody was cool and cared about each other. The music brought us together. I think it was 1982:)

    No exaggeration, there was a point, while going to every concert possible, these guys were at almost every concert it seemed. I've seen them 5 times if not 50. Lol! Every concert they were freaking amazing! If you want an amazing guitar hook/riff, listen in on "The Zoo" Live is even better. Oakland, Ca 1985. I was really there. Yes Indeed! Peace On Ya

    They are still making new music and touring. Saw them last summer for their new album. They sound live just like they do from studio versions.

    Your channel has been a joy, partly because you have that uniquely Canadian eclectic taste in music. You've also been willing to feature young artists by including some talent programme musicians. In this context, I recommend BGT's young rock band Chapter 13, and the Filipino band TNT Boys.

    Starting with a ballad from a hard rock band is an odd introduction, but I'm sure you'll find their killer rock songs soon enough.

    Best ballad of the 80's, it's not in competition with any other song imo. Timeless, and still hits me now as it did the 1st time I heard it.
