So, I’ve just been informed that the “X” is pronounced more like a ‘sh’ sound in Chinese, rather than the Russian pronunciation I nonsensically used. Please don’t give me too much Xit for this in the comments!
Agree 100%! In general most of nintendo things use them. I have a kit with two sizes even. Although, for my switch I replaced the tri-wing screws with normal philips screws. less likely to strip the head too.
This was the first “higher quality” bit set I bought and it’s worked great for me. The form factor is amazing. I do agree that I wish it had more hex sizes. Other than that this has worked for me for knife maintenance.
I bought this kit a week ago. Seems pretty good. It was the only Wiha kit I could find without importing from the US. More Allen keys (hex bits) would’ve been nice. The driver is nice, but it’s hard to get much torque on it. I wrote my comments, above, whilst starting to watch the vid, but it seems we’re of one mind across the board!
You probably know this already. Those hollow bits are security torx. As you noted they work find on regular torx screws. There's a similar security hex screw which I've never seen. Very nicely designed storage.
I just got a set of Wiha torx drivers. They are genuinely worth the price. I can't tell you how many torx bits and screws I've stripped by using the cheap Harbor Freight tools on my expensive knives. The Wiha are "sharper" and seem to grip the screws once properly inserted. They're clearly stronger and can withstand FAR more torque. If you have nice knives and want to take them apart, its 100% worth it to invest in a Wiha set.
I love this set! I love it so much I brought a second set as a spare. I have the iFixit driver as well and agree it’s a lot nicer thanks to the thicker girth and knurling. I still have no issues using the regular driver though.
I have to appreciate the amount of thought you put into a seemingly simple review. You explained that you use it for knives because it is very likely that someone is just going to google this kit and click on your review without knowing your chanel. I wouldn't have thought of that. Altough I have to say I think that lack of traction might intentional safety feature, because there is no way to strip your bits with it. I really like mine.
@@michaelmechex As I posted elsewhere, of the main European bit manufacturers (Wiha, Wera, Felo, Gedore, Hazet, Stahlwille), only Wiha makes 4 mm drive bits.
I have this set, and one thing I did for the handle was to wrap it in electrical tape. If I need more torque I still need to wrap it in a rag or something, but the electrical tape helps somewhat. Also to note, some of the driver bits have started to oxidize, but it doesn't affect performance whatsoever!
Purchased this set for my knife collection that consists of spyderco and Benchmade and damn do I love it! All my knives use either t6 t8 t9 or t10 And this has them all! Great quality too!
Nick, These bits measure 4mm (0.157") across the flats of the hex, while standard bits measure 0.25" (6.35mm). Wiha's stubby bit driver used standard bits, so much to my chagrin, the two drivers need separate bits.
Thanks for doing this review. While I was looking for the best deal i found the wiha75965 set open box for 69 bucks and with an eBay coupon I got it for $59 shipped with no tax. Best bee in the bonnet this week, Nick!
I also have this set and I do like it a lot though I have run into a few of the bits breaking under light pressure when disassembling a Bugout. Hopefully Wiha will replace the broken bits with ease. Thanks for the review Nick!
Fanttik makes the same set except the handle has grip. Pivot seems higher quality. S2 steel bits. Seems they've seen this video. On sale for $20 on Amazon when I bought, usually around $30 I believe.
I bought this set after hearing you talk highly about Wiha however I've already had several bits and screws strip with it. Have you seen project farm's test on Torx Bits? I wonder if the build quality and bit harness in that test would apply to precision bits by the same brand? Thoughts?
Great video 😄 I use this as my only set of bits with a driver and I'd recommend it. The 10€ difference to normal wiha kit is still 30% more expensive or something like that. Imo you don't get 30% better product, so it's still worth to buy the xiaomi version.
@@poisonousnut I just love the design of the case. No way the driver is completely useless. Maybe some electrical tape will help. And if it really sucks I have extra drivers to use.
_Ridge _ yeah it looks good. i have 4 or 5 of these precision bit sets. a husky set, which is very decent. my favorite the Wiha #759, a cheap Pro Tool set that is okay and 2 even cheaper sets from amazon that are beater sets i use if i don’t want to mar up my nicer ones. Wiha bits are definitely the best tho.
Just received this very set after I agonized over a micro-bit set for 2 weeks. I also got two ifixit aluminum drivers and I agree - they are much nicer to hold and handle. But the bits seem to have less play in the wiha driver than the ifixit. I mean - I find both disappointing, but the ifixit is worse - especially the wobble. I may just put some tape on the wiha driver to compensate for the lack of any surface structure. Some more testing ahead. I will most likely be swapping some bits as the time goes.
Had this for a year or two, form factor is great, snapped the T-6 when trying to disassemble a knife. Got the the wiha micro set you suggest. The driver works better on the wiha set and I think the magnet is stronger too. Aesthetically the Xeomi is cool but I had a failure.
xiaomi wiha set you reviewed has essential bits most people will need for dissembly of laptops, pcs or cellphones in order to clean up, swap damaged parts or for doing small upgrades nothing professional just enough for fixes any one can do. If you're doing professional repairs you'll get yourself something better but for most of us xiaomi wiha is enough.
I bought a Lowe’s but set and my t6 was destroyed. Then I bought one wiha t6 and it was amazing. This set looks pretty sleek if I was to get a bundle and a workstation
I'm thinking if I could maybe use some sandpaper or a drill bit to put my own "knurling" on it 🤔 it just looks so nice and nothing else high quality (that I'm aware of) has that sort of presentation
Thanks for such a detailed review. You definitely covered all different aspects of the product nicely. Could you please compare the quality of these bits with the bits of iFix it bits? I've tried to find a comparison video but I could not. However, the bits by iFix do seem made of poor quality in comparison to Wiha bits.

Yeah I’ll admit the traction you get on the handle is bad for knives, as we use things like threadlocker and companies are obsessed with the red devil, but as you mentioned, on electronics, it’s more than adequate. Taking apart a computer to service it is super nice as you don’t need that large amount of torque and it’s small to fit in a drawer, backpack, etc. For anyone curious, Xiaomi is the maker, they make phones, dash cams, toilet brushes, toothbrushes, etc. they have many sub brands, and the one in the review is from their Mijia line, which makes more household things.
