i've just started to see this set advertised on TH-cam, but on the adverts it shows the rechargeable electric mini handheld drill type version , but when you click the link it takes you to this manual version

On Ebay you can find this screwdriver set under "Xiaomi Wiha" name for 10£ with free shipping from China, I doubt it's a fake but maybe?
Interesting. Hard to say whether they sell fakes. But with all those other manufacturers copying the design ...it sure is possible.

It's not fake.
This screwdriver set is part of a joint venture between Wiha and a Chinese company. As part of the collaboration, this screwdriver set is manufactured in China, instead of Germany, where Wiha products are historically manufactured.
Although the Xiaomi Wiha screwdriver bits are made from tool quality S2 steel, they are a step down in quality from Wiha's house brand. Coupled with the lower manufacturing costs in China, this particular screwdriver set is at a significantly lower price point than Wiha's in-house screwdriver sets.
But compared to the vast majority of screwdriver sets manufactured in the PRC, this one offers high quality at a reasonable price. It's certainly not junk.
Finally, because this screwdriver set is marketed and sold as a Xiaomi Wiha product, it doesn't appear on Wiha's website.
does this have the nintendo tri-wing bit
It has a tri wing. But its too big for the original gameboy screws. However, you can open them with another bit.
@@TheSneezingMonkey There is a new version in 2021 that comes with two TriWing bits, you can tell them apart by the logo on the front of the cover, the new one does not have wiha written on it, and if you look at the pictures, there should be x2 TriWing bits as soon as you open it.

Yes. But that one is shaped like a triangle. The one I needed was shaped like a ‘mercedes star’. So they’re slightly different.

Mikester 619 I doubt this is a real Wiha kit, based off of the price. A 5 piece wiha precision kit is around $80.
