I try not to comment on every video & always hit the like, but buddy the quality of work & cars these last few days have been excellent, have always liked the little BMW's, this one is way cool, Rj in Oz
One thing I realised when I drove my (old) car with decent coilovers and semi slicks is that it's way more important to get stiffer anti-roll bars. Coilovers only do work on bumps and with initiating steering, but it doesn't hold the car stable throughout the corner. That's what you need anti-rollbars for. They spread the load of the car over all wheels, instead of all the load being on the outside wheels which will then meet and go over their limit faster, breaking traction.
Amen, while it's proper to have the right springs and dampers, it's even more important to have body roll in check which is only possible with a good set of anti roll bars. For many years (8?) my wife's MKV GTi was running only a big 27mm bar on the rear of the car making it feel so much better than cars with coilovers. I had a friend drive the car once and he thought the car had some secret suspension because it drove better than his lowered MK6.
This is not true. Race cars do not necessary have stiffer sway bars, just pick the right springrate and coilovers. You are connecting your coilovers, so they act less independend wich, for racing is not good. Swaybars do transform the car in a way of not leaning over and you can keep the comfort (not so stiff springs), so it is a great mod for cars that also are used on the road. What you say about coilovers only working bumps and when you initiate the steering, then your springrate is too low for the track.
@@jangr3813 If your coils are so stiff they can hold you steadily in the corner, they are way too stiff for steering initiation, you will have massive over- and understeer. Swaybars don't make a comfortable car, they keep your car more stable throughout the corner. Let's put it this way, yes a nice set of coilovers helps in the general feel of the car, but for faster cornering you need to spread the load on the tyres while cornering. You do that with a swaybar.
@@fwijffels believe wat you want, racing teams dont use fatter sway bars for faster laptimes. The sway bars Just pull your inner wheels up and level the car and make your suspension act less independent like multilink suspension..
@@jangr3813 Why would you need them to be independent? To be more comfortable on bumps/curbs? Not during a race. But as I said before, you need both, but for faster cornering I'd rely on swaybars.

No-one else going to mention the fact that this one lap used almost 1/4 a tank of fuel? These have a 52litre tank, meaning in the 14 mile lap it used 13litres of fuel. Thats 2.8gallons. Meaning an average MPG of nearly 4mpg throughout the lap. Yes, I know, you don't spec out a 620bhp m140i if you're chasing MPG. But my 435d currently running ~440bhp averages 42mpg when pushing hard and has had a tenth of the amount spent on it than this car has.

Anything 600bhp is lightly modified over here lol.
I guess that’s because America is so dragstrip focused. Here people go to town on all mods but engine and in the US you guys run stock brakes on 1500hp mustangs. But also with European cars being more „maxed out“ from factory you often have to upgrade the internals quite soon which most people hesitate with. It’s always easy to turbo or supercharge a 80hp per litre v8
The thing in Europe is that we have relative small but efficiënt engines. Anything from 3 liters and up is considered large. Anything with more than 4 cylinders is basically too expensive to buy if you're earning a normal salary. For example in the Netherlands you'd have to pay over € 100.000 to purchase a new Mustang with the 5.0 V8. Now start modding it, replace pistons and rods, put a supercharger and tune on it and lose another 40k. Basically unaffordable, so the majority of us petrolheads are forced to stick to smaller engines and relative low power outputs.
Yeah, but when you guys have an accident you have to pay 3 trillion dollars and end up dying in debt since your health insurance doesn't cover track accidents. So yeah, good luck with that.
