I'm from Chicago, and in 1972 and 1973 the soul radio stations were hot to trot bad to the bone love songs, I remember as if it was yesterday, they played the stew out of this song by the Ebonys and their other big hit Forever, I love the Ebonys style, I wished I could have seen them perform live.
Oh my GOD man!, He still sounds the same as he did when I was 5 years old with my moms playing this, wow! where did the time go y'all...And thank u for this,so glad to hear it again.
I was a little girl when this song was a hit about 6 or 7. For some reason every time it came on the radio I would stop to listen to the whole song. This song still gives me chills. And, I appreciate the instruments playing in the back.
Yes, they are trying, but no one can touch the originals. Just too powerful for today's singers, but yes give them credit.Sorry but they just lack the power of the OG
Kenneth Craddock LOL...Kenneth, that's a little harsh, but a little true too. Its hard to find singers who have the power and harmony of the original groups. So I just enjoy the old standard and let it go at that. But I'll keep my eyes on this new version....maybe they will get it together.
I managed the original Ebonies (Bootie, Jennifer, David and Jimbo) when they were still in high school. NONE of the people in this video are original members of the Ebonies.
.and I'll bet none are around or alive now. I'm glad someone is keeping the music and their legacy alive. You, of all people should be glad about it too!
McKensey is a wonderful falsetto but seems like his breathing was a bit labored when holding some of the longer notes. Sad that he would pass away the next year.
+latoya sims the lead singer, you can tell he has the same voice timbre, same intensity but the new members the other 3 sound very weak , great song though
Rob Russell is right none of those are the original singers. I knew the new lead singer when he was starting out solo and then he got the lead when the Original Ebonys singer died.... He's just as good as the original lead singer, maybe better. He has all these commenter thinking he's the Original so what's that saying..
I love the original group, but this group just lacks that dynamic something...but they are doing something, singing these songs...I just don't know what it is...lol...they are trying aren't they?

I was a little girl when this song was a hit about 6 or 7. For some reason every time it came on the radio I would stop to listen to the whole song. This song still gives me chills. And, I appreciate the instruments playing in the back.

Even though these are NOT the OG members..I give them credit for the band and strings.
Yes, they are trying, but no one can touch the originals. Just too powerful for today's singers, but yes give them credit.Sorry but they just lack the power of the OG
+Robert Spiller Absolutely correct, the leader is the same with intensity but the new members are weak, apathetic
Kenneth Craddock
LOL...Kenneth, that's a little harsh, but a little true too. Its hard to find singers who have the power and harmony of the original groups. So I just enjoy the old standard and let it go at that. But I'll keep my eyes on this new version....maybe they will get it together.
None of these are original members, but to me they sound the best of all of the groups who currently call themselves the Ebonys!!

Long before the birth of autotune, when people had real passion on putting their music skills to good use for our appreciation.
Beautiful!
I managed the original Ebonies (Bootie, Jennifer, David and Jimbo) when they were still in high school. NONE of the people in this video are original members of the Ebonies.

No, that's actually William "SMOKE" Howard. The original lead singer died years ago.
McKensey is a wonderful falsetto but seems like his breathing was a bit labored when holding some of the longer notes. Sad that he would pass away the next year.
That’s my uncle
Is this the Philly Sound?
Yep. Originally.
which one is the original member
+latoya sims the lead singer, you can tell he has the same voice timbre, same intensity but the new members the other 3 sound very weak , great song though
Kenneth Craddock sometimes it's lack of confidence & they might be concentrating on getting the sound/ notes right
None of them
Rob Russell is right none of those are the original singers. I knew the new lead singer when he was starting out solo and then he got the lead when the Original Ebonys singer died.... He's just as good as the original lead singer, maybe better. He has all these commenter thinking he's the Original so what's that saying..
That's messed up then smh nut they keeping it alive i quess
He has a good voice, not strong as the original. The old songs are emblazoned in our minds..Baby Baby Baby blew us away from the start.
How many of them are the original members I know the falsetto guy is not
He was sososo hot
Is that the actor Courtney Vance, Angela Bassett's husband, singing lead? Sure looks like him.
Is this the original group?
No they don't sound like the real deal...nice sound anyway 👈👍
thats the tow original members of the group

They are not the original Ebonys
I love the original group, but this group just lacks that dynamic something...but they are doing something, singing these songs...I just don't know what it is...lol...they are trying aren't they?
