- I originally wasn't going to go camp but I had a stressful day at work so I last minute slapped my camping gear to my bike and left for tonight to clear my mind . I ended up in the beautiful ghost town of Cerro Gordo .
Unfortunately I didn't have a fire like I wanted and I didn't get the shots I wanted for the most part but I came out and had a good time so that's all that matters.
First I want to say thank you for your service to our county and that I have enjoyed your videos.
Regarding the KLX 300, mine was purchased new in 2021 I would say that with a few modifications it’s been a great all around bike.
Mods include a Seat Concepts seat, larger foot pegs, Tusk hand guards, a rear rack, T-Rex bash plate and wind screen that make it into more of an adventure type bike.
The 300 cc engine is entertaining on most trails and back roads, it’s just not a superhighway burner.
My biggest gripe has been the small gas tank, though to be fair I’ve never run out of fuel over the past three years and the bike averages around 70 mpg so I normally stop every 100 - 120 miles, it doesn’t hurt to stop and stretch at that point.
I’ve had bikes since the late 1980’s with a break I took when my sons were younger, got back into the sport in 2021 and the KLX has been a lot of fun for me. Most of my previous bikes were 4 cylinder standards around 750 cc. I do find myself looking at other bikes but darned if the KLX doesn’t always manage to make me grin on my rides. I also really appreciate how well it rides over our lovely upstate NY frost heaved and pothole riddled roads.
Safe travels and keep up the adventures!
I grew up in the Owens valley. Most of my family still lives in Big pine. My nephew helped get that water tank up there. He was the one in the tan Toyota truck.
14:23 dude that was the funniest over reaction to a fall I’ve ever seen 🤣🤣 I can’t stop watching it, much respect for including it in your vid
lmao oscar worthy
Wow...you can tell this guy is not a experienced rider...lol
NOOOOO HAHAHAHA
@@michaelwhorley7731I bet you were immediately!! 🫵🏻💪🏻
Haha I’m glad you good after launching off that cliff 💥🔥💨
You live the life I dream about! Keep on exploring!
I love all the Cerro Gordo content!! Its pretty cool having your access to the site via TH-cam.
Glad it was good weather & safe rides. God Bless
Excellent scenery. I do like the cabin. Simple yet comfortable.
Love the Moab adventure thermal ! Have the same one
That was fun. A beautiful side of Cali desert areas. Good times.
Nice vid DD I just got my new Crf 300l rally the mid sized competition to the Klx I considered the Klx when I was choosing my next bike great vid and views thanks for sharing 👍🤟
This video after watching it i just have to go on a mountain adventure ride some day. Thank you for recording your journey!
I watched this from a big screen. It freaked me out when you crashed. I screamed out loud. Oh my gosh my heart !!!! That was a hard hit. Glad your ok.
I never thought that . OOOOooooo!!!! I got a new bike and am waiting on the skid plate and racks and I'll come up for some moto camping or just adventure
I like the Nelson Rigg dry bags with the Tusk pannier rack for my KLR. This video is a year old so I’ll be looking to see what you did with the KLX.
Epic dune moment on the weekend the new Dune movie came out. Very appropriate. 😆
Awesome trip!
Have you seen the Tusk Excursion rackless system? I highly recommend it. Not expensive when compared to other luggage options and perfect for your KLX and TW.
Ya I just got the Tusk Traverse bags for my DR350 and carries everything I need for the average cruise.
Great video, awesome views. But you have to be more careful where and how you ride. Going blazing up that dune could've ended up more serious that it did. Keep on filming, love your stuff.
I sympathize with your fall on the sand. I hate riding on sand. I wouldn't have even tried that dune, and respect your riding skills and guts for not being intimidated by the sand. Getting those tall dual sports back up when they're down is a challenge.
Mine will cruise all day between 65mph and 70 no problem, that's with a head wind or not, up hill or down hill. When I'm at 70, I'm about 7200 rpm. Now, that's with no gear on bike and I'm 195lbs. I am also running the Delkevic 14" slip on and the KX snorkel. I've owned big sport bikes and Harleys, and I am absolutely loving this bike. My only complaint is the tank size.
That is my only complaint too is the tank size
@@dualdorks oh I forgot, the stock head light is terrible, but I replaced it with LED and its awesome!! Probably best upgrade I made for it.
@@Dawgs241 I know I need to make that upgrade soon . The stock is pointing way to high for some reason
imsproducts.com you can get a bigger gas tank here just in case you didnt know
Are you still running the stock tires? I have a crf300l and looking to put a little less aggressive set on since my percentage of riding leans mostly on pavement and dirt roads, similar to yours.
Love your content bud. Keep it up!🤙
They are the stock D605's . I need to swap my rear tire soon. I actually have a 605 I was going to put in the front of the TW but now it's going on the KLX . I mostly ride long sections of pavement to get to the trails so I need a good 50/50 tire
I have a 21 klx 300, i usually dont have an issue getting to 70-75 in a head wind, she'll top out at 90 in perfect conditions but its sketchy as hell at that speed 😂 i usually keep it under 75
i am thinking about getting one of this but it has no abs . i got an abs klx 230 dual but it has no radiator . thats a nice bike check places don destroy it . glad your ok .
The 300 isn't really all that fast or powerful to be honest . It is nice to have the suspension and 6th gear . It is a tall bike . The 230 was my second choice bike if I couldn't get my hands on a TW200
Cool hope I can get out too
KLX300 owner here. Can confirm it doesn't like the headwind. I think it doesn't mind if we rev the tits out of it down the road. Gotta love the oversquare motors.
I'm glad there is someone else that understands what I'm saying lol. Just checked the valves and which was a chore but not to hard . My KLX doesn't really like to go above 60mph . It will do it but it doesn't like it .
@@dualdorks Did your valve end up needing adjusted? Or were they in spec? And agreed. If you wanna just cruise around at 60 mph all day the KLX will do it but don't plan on anything quicker than that. It makes up for it in the dirt though in my opinion.
@@NorthWestMotos the valves was in spec and didn't need any adjustments
Famous TH-camr at it again!
Hi. I had a d-tracker 250 my bike don't go over 120km/h top speed
Where did you order the new plastic from? I'm going to attach a rod holder on the left side and going to drill holes in it. I just wanted to buy a spare one to drill
Pretty sure I got it on Babbits
You should look into getting a ktm 690 enduro. You can load that thing up and it’s still fun to ride off road
Nah
New pegs handlebar risers tires mirrors handguards and I want to find a power upgrade that won't make the check engine light come on even if it's just installing a lighter entegral engine parts
Did you catch a CG Orb at 9:14? Great video..
I just noticed that . Could have been a fly but flies don't fly in a straight line like that
@@dualdorks use the Kinemaster to check it, get a screen shot.
This was a great vid.
Two big dumps on your ride! Thanks for not filming the first...
I do not but I am 5ft 11.5 inches and I weigh 185 lb and I'm pretty sure I don't get a lot of wind resistance LOL I have a video up where I'm doing 75 with one hand and not busting a sweat.
Cool
Interesting, i just seen the highest gasoline prices in country are in gordo California, probably great to have s machine that only cost 15$ go 120 miles
It's even worse down in the big cities . Over $5 a gallon...
14:37 🦸♂ 🤣👍
other than getting bashed by the wind I can manage 100km no problem but its the side wind that is the worst!!
8:05 🤣😂
The kickstands are way too long I have mine on a poured slab and my son is like 20lb and he will put one hand on it and it'll move
I don't even know who Brent is.
He runs the channel Ghost Town Living and he is very popular on TH-cam
I am glad you are not out to be a famous youtuber. Once people I follow get too big and do it for a job, the content gets shitty and just to stagey for me and I am out!!!
THAT THING IS A SHIT BOX
