    Excellent video with some great mods well explained. Thanks for posting. As a fairly damaged 62 year old, I've been steadily down sizing. This little gem seems to tick all the boxes. Unfortunately I live in Europe and the TWs are only available in 125cc, TW200s are like rocking horse poop to find. Because of the Europe wide stepped licence system, this capacity is not so common. I'll keep look.

      Glad to hear that ! i would hope you know the difference ! but with a BMW in the garage you could be one of those people with more money than sense ! ...ya never know ! good to hear about the back sprocket my biggest complaint is the top speed of a TW 200...

    I would totally recommend an in-line fuel filter between the petcock & carb. There’s not much room, but a 90 degrees one helps with that. Shouldn’t need any additives then.

    It's a small, small world. I bought this bike last May. From the owner Gord sold it to. Thus I'm her fourth owner. If you happen to read this Gord I've a couple of questions I'd like to pose. Openly or in a message. Your mods including a couple of the seller I picked it up are the reason I bought it. Well that reason and a TW fits me.

    Nice setup, and great gear run-through!
    Back in the day, I had two TW200s.. They were such a blast! Fast forward to now..
    I just scored a 2013 model with 47 [yes.. forty seven] original miles. Beyond stoked.
    It's exactly what I need for a Coronapocalypse go anywhere vehicle.

    If you ever took this dual sport off road you would appreciate the low 1st gear. The draw to go 75mph has never outweighed the ability to crawl and not stall for me. The last place I want to be is on the freeway with this thing being passed by semis.
    To each his own though.
    Your mods obviously fit the needs your looking for in a bike.
    Many of us really enjoy the stock gearing.

  • @Techridr
    @Techridr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Nice setup, but I'd not go to a 44-tooth as it would take away the ability to tractor up those steep hills. I might go up one tooth up front, to a 15. That's nearly the same as going to a 47 in the rear. This, of course, depends on each persons riding styles and their weight.

    • @bobkelly2447
      @bobkelly2447 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      the gear ratio on the drive doesn't care if it's the front or rear sprocket the drive ratio stays the same. the front sprocket may or may not be able to use the stock chain, replacing the back sprocket with a bigger sprocket inevitably means adding a piece of chain or a whole new one... so you will loose that tractor power by going with a bigger front sprocket as well as you would by going to a smaller rear sprocket..... just so you know ! ....

    • @GusBlues1006
      @GusBlues1006  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It tractors up MUCH better with 44 teeth. The factory sprocket tops in 1st gear out at just over 5 mph. You have no choice but to gear up to 2nd which is the LAST thing you want to do on a steep climb. The TW200 is, quite simply, not a good choice bike for rough trail riding. It is just fine for campgrounds, farms, gravel roads and groomed trails.

  • @DCSkippy01
    @DCSkippy01 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I know this is an older video but did you lose much power switching to the 44 sprocket? I'll be doing 90% road driving on my TDub but don't want to hamstring myself If I venture off the paved path. Did you notice it affect dirt performance at all?

    • @GusBlues1006
      @GusBlues1006  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It improves both the highway speeds, and also the dirt too. Factory first gear forces you to change into second at a very low speed around 5 mph. Very often I would find that I would be starting to climb a steep hill and would be forced to switch into second gear at a really core time. With the 44 sprocket, my first gear would let me claim steep hills without having to change gears without any loss of power.

So again, nice job on the video. You cover quite a few mods that really make a difference on this bike. I had a couple questions that weren't mentioned and really wanted to add to my bike. First off, where can I get that exact windshield, that Blue looks awesome on that bike...? I switched to the Shinko tires on front and back. Happier with Shinko tires on trail and road use. It runs much better on the dirt with the new 44 tooth sprocket. First gear with the stock sprocket doesn't allow the bike to climb without needing to quickly gear up to 2nd almost immediately...which kills your momentum trying to climb steep slopes.
