Sometimes very expensive watches don't have hacking mechanism, so I wonder if it is a decision based on the longevity of the watch balance wheel or if it is because of another reason. And it would be interesting to know if there are another types of hacking mechanisms that does not involve a lever touching the balance wheel to get the same feature of hacking. I think this side of this feature is sometimes forgotten.

Just another tip on using the timing bezel. The large lumed marker (usually at 12 o’clock by default) is used to indicate the end of the duration, not the start of it. It’s large since knowing deadline is more important.

Great vid Teddy! If a future one is done, maybe explain how hand winding your automatic watch can be dangerous, especially with the SW200-1, which ratchet wheel is easily sheared/stripped. I have 2 watches with SW200-1 both with ratchet wheel issues within the 1st year and 1/2 of purchasing the watches new.
Yeah ... having stripped the teeth on the ratchet wheel on one of my watches with an sw200 movement (repaired under guarantee) I now wind it very very gently ....
Dive watches are my every day watch. I use the bezel ever day to keep track of time while cooking etc. I ofter use my chrono which allow me to time 2 item.

I need help. Would really want a guilloche face with breguet numerals does it exist, i know its kind of against breguet design esthetic but who knows! Also - want it in a breguet. Graduated residency, using sign on bonus for this and 2 others: an TBD and a omega moonwatch.
I have a task at work, swapping spools on a machine every 15 min... I twist my bezel to the current minute and walk away. At a glance, I know how long I've been away from the machine... super easy a dozen times a day. 😊

Not really true. Free Sprung balances can be precisely adjusted by machine with no human intervention. Basically a laser is used to permanently remove a bit of material on the balance as the watch is being regulated. So, not it need not be more difficult or laborious to adjust.
I don't believe that freesprung balances lead to greater accuracy in practice. In fact, they are older technology really. Also, a microregulator allows the user to easily regulate the watch on the wrist, whereas a freesprung balance will need a watchmaker to regulate it. The most accurate watches are those that are regulated by the user to suit his or her own activity modes and levels.
It truly is amazing how much goes into the making of a mechanical watch. Watching this video reminds me that I need a class curriculum to fully understand the process. At any rate, thanks for another video, Teddy!
Another top informative video Teddy. So many people get these terms wrong including me back in my early watch collecting days. The illustration of the bridal was very interesting for automatic winding. The concept I realised but I was uncertain on the execution of how that clutch worked. Many thanks for sharing Teddy.
Good call. It is a never-ending hole you can keep going down. Just to address it for those interested... Before diving computers, this tracking of time was needed as it could lead to dangerous consequences underwater. By rotating only one way it lessened the chances of the bezel getting knocked and showing the incorrect elapsed time. This concept of preventing this undesired bezel movement lead to other developments such as elapsed time bezels that need to be pressed down first before rotating and the compressor style that has an internal bezel that required a crown on the side of the case to be turned in order for the bezel to move.

I always learn something from your educational videos. A topic of interest to the majority of collectors and enthusiasts is accuracy: what should we expect from a given caliber, and what are the factors that manufacturers can control to improve it? What's COSC? What's a "chronometer" (superlative or otherwise😏)? I have a GS quartz that is good to one second every six months, which seems miraculous, and I wonder how exactly they pull it off.
A video like this for chronograph terms would be amazing. I have no idea what terms like column wheel or vertical clutch (not even sure if that's right) are.

Thank you. A low amplitude is a sign of a dirty watch which needs a service most commonly.
